Dubai Says No to Miss Israel, Trump Moves Miss Universe to Vegas

By Debbie Schlussel
As longtime readers know I’m not exactly a fan of Donald Trump or his attached enormous ego. But I have to give him credit for doing the right thing. He moved the Miss Universe Pageant from Dubai, after Dubai said the country would not allow the pageant to go on with Miss Israel in it–something about not wanting pretty women to enter the Arab Muslim world.
On the other hand, Trump had no choice. Many of his business partners are Jews, as are many of the people with whom he socializes on the Manhattan rich people’s cocktail circuit. Still, perhaps I’m giving both Trump and New York Jews too much credit. I doubt they’d shun him if he went on with the pageant excluding the Jew (although Miss Israel has been a Muslim Arab before, such as Rana Raslan). They really don’t care a whit about anti-Semitism or anti-Israel sentiment. Look who most of ’em voted for in the Presidential election.

Sorry, Dubai: Trump Says Shunit Faragi, Miss Israel 2008, Stays in Pageant

Plus Trump shouldn’t have considered Dubai in the first place. It’s no secret the nation boycotts Israel, etc. That’s not to mention Trump’s good friend, Russell Simmons, who employs an anti-Semitic Muslim–Benjamin Chavis Muhammad–as head of his Hip Hop Summit Action Network. So, it’s not like anti-Semitism really bothers Trump all too much.
Trump isn’t exactly bothered by Dubai anyway. He was supposed to build a Trump International Hotel and Tower, there, which is now “delayed.” And the cancellation of Miss Universe there might have more to do with that, then any moral stand against anti-Semitism in Dubai and the other United Arab Emirates.
Regardless, though, Dubai’s anti-Israel policy has been publicly dissed by no less than Trump, and that’s a good thing.
More:

Alicia Jacobs, entertainment reporter at KVBC-TV, Channel 3, is reporting that Donald Trump’s Miss Universe pageant is “most likely” headed for Las Vegas. Trump, who was on the brink of holding the event in Dubai, has been negotiating with the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority since Dubai stipulated Miss Israel could not participate, Jacobs said. The event would be held at Planet Hollywood Resort, which also hosts the Miss America and Trump’s Miss USA pageants.

Debbie, you must be mistaken. Dubai is not anti-Semitic or anti-Israel.
I know this because during the Dubai ports deal several years ago, President Bush and his advisors, as well as leading representatives of the Israeli government explained to us that Dubai had numerous business dealings with Jewish merchants, and that this enlightened country was moving in the direction of tolerance and respect for Israel.

CF:
Then why exclude Miss Israel?
Debbie:
Love the picture of The Donald. That picture should be put in the dictionary next to “Bad hair day”!

I guess there’s a risk in being sarcastic. I thought the ludicrousness of anyone saying that Dubai was not anti-semitic as Bush et al did a few years ago was so obvious that it was safe to be sarcastic. You live and you learn.

Trump will do anything for money. Look at Omarosa, he kept her around for his show after she got “fired”. I love the picture. Hair gone wild.

Hey, Deb, don’t be a sourpuss. Trump did do the right thing. I’m not a fan of his either but he stepped up. It being Chanukah, and nearly Christmas, it’s time to give Trump an ‘attaboy’.

Hmmm… I wonder if Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, being engaged to Jared Kushner and her upcoming Orthodox conversion to Judaism has had any affect on him. Maybe…

While we are on the subject of beauty queens. Mexican beauty queen gets arrested in gun filled truck. My kind of woman. Power packing pistol mama.

Wow! Miss Israel hot! Trump is not the kinda of guy that is going to take direction, as the paying customer, from the banquet staff (Dubai). Don’t give him any more credit than that. There isn’t anything about Israeli Jews that even remotely resembles the whining pampered U.S. crowd. I met this hot Israeli gal at her place in LA and we agreed on the subject about the pseudo crowd in the U.S. They even have a romper room unit for the American Jews who want to serve over there. I could increase tourism to Israel by three times just showing the picture (in her Army paper) of the long haired gals with M-16s slung over their tight little butts. Great country to visit, loved it.
Trump is a turd – can’t wait for the next real estate bust so he just goes away for awhile. As for the crowd that would care who wins the beauty contest, you can get those kind of gals on your own without buying a pageant. This Israeli gal liked to get her hair pulled and talked naughty too, pretty cool in retrospect, even if it wasn’t my thing.

Nice to see Trump make the right move.

AW…She’s a honey.

Miss Israel is pretty hot and should have a place in the pageant with the rest of the girls.
But what happened to “the Donald’s” hair? Did he piss on an electric fence?

Nothing wrong with being sarcastic. Sometimes I can be a fool, especially when having a bad work day (as I did yesterday).

It wasn’t anti-Semitism that bothered Trump in the first place. What it was was another entity – in this case, the UAE government – interfering with his pagent. If there was a Miss Lebanon from Hizbullah or a Miss Iran participating in the pagent, and the US refused to issue her a visa, you can bet Trump would have moved the event from Vegas to Casablanca or some such place.
In short, Debbie, the ego that you’re generally critical of is what saw this event showing Dubai the bird, not any principles about anti-Semitism.

I generally can read sarcasm or facetiousness when I see it, but I missed it in your post above, since there was nothing implausible about President Bush & his advisors explaining to us that Dubai had numerous business dealings with Jewish merchants, and that this enlightened country was moving in the direction of tolerance and respect for Israel. Of course, it’s less likely that Israel would have publicly lobbied for an Islamic country in what is purely an internal matter of the US.
For sarcasm to be read, everything has to be very implausible, like Taliban forcibly converting Afghans to Buddhism, or Hamas forcibly converting Palis to Judaism – THAT sort of thing.

Wow she’s hot! Those morons in Dubai don’t know what they’re missing…. 🙂

Dubai spits on Trump, they don’t need him to organize a beauty contest and to prove it they have organized their own with an array of beauty that will make most Muslims swoon.

Infidel Pride, perhaps you have laid out the requirements for you to recognize sarcasm; I got that it was sarcasm at my first read of CF’s comment.
