At least with early teens, the girls used to go for smooth, non-threatening, ‘cuddly’ males. Its worse in East Asia. A Chinese guy from Taiwan was laughing at the Asian Male image (I love people with a sense of humor about themselves). He said the male teen idols there look like teen girls, makeup and all. Taiwan is the only country where a young man can cram his car windows full of cute stuffed animals and nobody thinks it ‘strange’.

I wish the Republicans Party had the insight about the culture like you do. They obviously have a culture gap. This is what seperates your blog from other conservative blogs, you understand the implications of what is happening to our culture. That is why Republicans cant win over young professionals now. Young professionals were villified in the 80s because they voted for Reagan. Now the young professionals wont even consider being a Republican. You understand what is happening to the culture and the party continues to look the other way. Unfortunately in this country the tail is wagging the dog.
As for the effiminates, hopefully they cant reproduce since they gave away their manhood. I think we have to import our manhood from other countries. I just cant see a guy like him working in a factory or a construction site, he might break a nail. He might be one of those guys “who wont do the jobs Americans wont do”. Maybe I am biased here in California, but liberalism has killed manhood here. Well at least coastal Califonia it is dead. I guess there is some manhood left in Inland California. We have a generation of kids raised by Dr. Spock and MT.HOprah. No wonder illegals took over the physical labor market, no one stopped them from taking their jobs.

I had a classmate at the Pasadena Playhouse who accidentally became a teen idol. Magazines mobbed him, little girls with braces slobbered at the mere sight of him, and the usual screaming and fainting. But the thing with all these teen idols going back to infinity is that they are completely non threatening to these little girls. A vampire who’s afraid to kiss girls lest he fall for the temptation to suck her blood fills every criteria that the fifteen and unders demand. I mean talk about non-threatening, he can’t even kiss. Totally safe. Oh, and he’s polite too…….

You sound like an old fuddy-duddy!
Sinatra was a wimp in the 40’s, -Ricky Nelson a virtual shemale in the 50’s, the Beatles & Stones as girlie as they come…then you hit our generation and there was Bobby Sherman, David Cassidy, the Osmonds and the rest of the Tiger Beat crowd….that these girls are READING should be commended…i’ve got a few nieces that are in high school and would probably find “Cat in the Hat” classical literature!

I dunno, I gotta give The Deb a wait and see approch with his guy until I read her review. He doesn’t look that much like a girlie-man. And I’m suprised the girls I talk to who are marks for that book series hasn’t said anything about the guy.

i would much rather have a strong man, than a girly one. if you love effeminate boys, why not go for girls and be logical(sarcasm btw) but I think it’s because masculinity has been discouraged.

I remember reading some scientific research a couple of years ago that suggested that most women find feminized men’s faces more attractive than the more classical masculine face.

I’m too old (35) to have ever heard of these books before the hype about the movie. I don’t know if it’s totally a cultural thing as a teenage girl one. Teen heartthrobs, as the commenter noted above, are usually “pretty” and very nonthreatening. They’re almost asexual.The girls may like the pretty boys at 12-14, but they will change. Somewhere along the line, I realized I like men who are men (and most of them like women who are feminine, although they appreciate a sports lover!) Ask any woman if she prefers the “Fight Club”/ “Snatch” Brad Pitt or the “Meet Joe Black” one.

I may not always agree with your points, but I usually love them. I was thinking more of his (Mr. Jolie- hah) appearance in that movie than his character, who was a sociopathic scumbag. There are better- I’ll pick Dennis Quaid, who has aged beautifully, in “The Rookie.” I think he looks better now than the pretty thing he was in “The Right Stuff.”
