Why Are Michigan Taxpayers Funding the Promotion of Dubai?

By Debbie Schlussel
This morning and tomorrow morning on Rush Limbaugh’s Detroit affiliate, WJR-AM, faux-conservative Paul W. Smith–who is really a liberal in every aspect–is doing his morning radio show from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. And Michigan taxpayers are paying for it. The shows are entirely sponsored by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, which is supposed to subsidize the creation of jobs in Michigan, but what it really does is pick winners and losers and work against Michigan taxpayers.
And now, it’s apparently the new auxiliary of the Dubai Tourism Ministry. Your tax dollars at work.
I normally don’t listen to Smith, since he’s boring, inane, liberal, uses his show to promote Islam and Hezbollah, and I’m about 40 years too young to be in his demographic. But, this morning, I monitored this heavily promoted gush-fest over Dubai. Listening to his show was painful and, as usual, a waste of time. It was a 4.5 hour commercial for Dubai and its fellow Emirates, all of which boycott Israel, discriminate against Jews and helped the 9/11 terrorists carry out their mass murder of nearly 3,000 Americans. Dubai and the other Emirates also continued to recognize and support the Taliban until months after 9/11. Of course, none of this was mentioned by the pandering, rudderless Smith.

WJR, Smith, & Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum: Detroit’s ABC Radio/Citadel Station Now Tax-funded Mouthpiece for Anti-Semitic Dubai

This is par for the course for Paul W. Smith, the half Lebanese WJR host who is mostly an empty vessel when he’s not shilling for HAMAS-front group CAIR, Hezbollah, Hezbollah’s man in Congress John Dingell, and Hezbollah agent Osama Siblani. Oh, and he’s yet another vessel for White guilt–of which there are many in Detroit. Yesterday, he wrote a blithering column–standard for his “columns”–about how he felt the tears of Jesse Jackson over the joy that a Black President was elected (one wonders when he’ll feel Jesse Jackson’s spittle about “Hymietown” and taste his spit on White people’s salads). That’s what he writes when he’s not doing White-guilt specials for the local PBS station.
So, why are Michigan taxpayers paying for Paul W. Smith to travel to and live large in Dubai and then do nine hours of non-stop hack-work on behalf of rich keffiyeh-encrusted terrorism supporting oil barons?
Because they allow it to happen.
E-mail Paul W. Smith and his boss, Mike Fezzey, and ask them why their station is now the tax-funded ad council for this anti-Semitic nation.
Michigan is in the middle of an economic depression, and our tax money is going to . . . promote rich Arab oil sheikhs?! Incredible.

Maybe it’s ‘follow the money’. I’ve noticed a degeneration of talk shows recently, excluding a few top stalwarts like Rush. They have become publicity vehicles for BHO; i.e. all the choices for pizza that his daughters will have in the White House, etc. A comination of following the market to its lowest common denominator and maybe some of these flaks getting money from Arab terrorists. Although I think some talk shows have played a positive role, I can’t get over how stupid many of the hosts and callers are.

And it’s disgusting that MSU is so heavily involved in Dubai.

Hi Debbie,
Speaking of promoting Dubai, you and your readers should know about something that happened to me recently.
As the President of Boycott Watch, I regularly answer questions from the media about specific boycotts to improve reports. No news there. In the past week, I received such a request from a reporter, Nawrez Khalil of Media Quest Corp (nawrez@mediaquestcorp.com), a Dubai based Arab media outlet with an office in France, a nation where unemployed Muslims freely riot and Jews needs to hide their religious identity.
As always, I gladly offered to answer the questions of the reporter. What I received, however, was not journalistic questions, but rather open-ended questions which could have been written by any fifth grader with the grammatical skills of a first grader, such as ìWhat are forms of a boycott?î None of the questions had any specific topic and few made any sense, thus it was not possible to answer the questions without writing a book ñ literally.
I replied to the so-called reporter, asking him to be more specific, and the reply I received simply stated ìFeel free to answer these questions any way you like.î Essentially, the so-called reporter acknowledged the questions were in fact open-ended and had no specific topic. Since I have written about Dubai as part of the Arab boycott of Israel, and since my work exposing the Arab boycott of Israel was instrumental in the derailing of the Dubai Ports World deal, and because I exposed how the divest-from-Israel campaign is part of the greater Arab boycott of Israel which the USE is signatory to, and because so-called reporter Nawrez Khalil contacted me via http://www.FredTaub.com which clearly links to my http://www.DivestmentWatch.com website, this so-called reporter clearly knows exactly who I am, thus I believe the questions he asked me were designed to allow any reply I could have made to be taken out of context, as there was no context. In essence, my fear that the questions were a trap was confirmed when Nawrez Khalil essentially said he wanted an open-ended response.
Debbie, I refuse to be the pawn of anyone, and I simply cannot understand why your Michigan Economic Development Corporation should be sending anyone oversees at all when they are supposed to be developing the Michigan economy, and not the Dubai economy, as that is where the dollars for the trip went. Instead, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation spent money to butter up a reporter so he can no longer be objective, not that he was before the trip. If the people of Dubai really wanted to hear a Detroit area reporter, they should have paid for the trip, not the taxpayer. Clearly, Paul Smith likes being a pawn.

Debbie, the UAE put their name on Emirates Stadium in London. It’s a shame all the Jewish Arsenal fans don’t boycott the team.

Debbie
Paul W Smith sometimes guest-hosts Rush’s program, when he’s on his so few vacations. Have you ever asked Rush about what he agrees with him on? Not to mention – during the Dubai Ports World fiasco, Rush was an enthusiastic supporter of the deal.
You need to inform Rush a bit more about dar ul islam
[IP: I’VE INFORMED HIM MANY, MANY TIMES. SADLY, HE, TOO, IS A FAN OF DUBAI AND UAE. BUT PAUL W. SMITH WILL NO LONGER GUEST HOST FOR RUSH AND HASN’T FOR SOME TIME, NOW THAT CITADEL FINALIZED ITS PURCHASE OF ABC RADIO–THAT MAKES PAUL W. A PROHIBITED HOST BY CLEAR CHANNEL/PREMIERE, WHICH OWNS RUSH’S SHOW. DS]
