I can tolerate his brother Greg Gumbel, atleast Greg Gumbel is more smart, keep his viewpoints to himself, and keeps his mouth shut, regardless what the mans politics are. I also remember back in the 2006 Winter Olympics, he made a semi-racist statement that “the Winter Olympics looks like the Republican Party”, and he get’s away with this BS, because he’s part-in-parcel of the far-left cabal that’s really ruining this country. Gumbel has been empowered for one simple reason: He is the perfect “White Black guy.” He has white facial characteristics and does not sound “Black” when he speaks.

Without David Stern, there probably wouldn’t be an NBA. He’s the best commish in the history of sports. How else to explain the fact that he took a bankrupt, drug-infested league staffed by mostly black players and sold it as cool to white affluent audiences.

I am amazed that Gumbel and his fellow henchmen have not attacked Synagoges and Churches the way his henchmen do a daily double on McDonald’s, IHOP’s, amusement parks, school district’s, buses, subways, cities, and whatever else they can get a hold of.
The NBA has not been worth watching for a long time. Long gone are the days of John Havlicheck, Tom Boerwinkle, Jerry Sloan, Rick Barry, Tom and Dick Van Ardale. Long gone are the Cincinnati Royals and the small market teams.

I think his statement was stupid and it detracted from his point about how heavy handed Stern has been with the labor talks with the NBA players; however, it was in no way anti-Semitic. Gumble was just saying how some of the NBA players feel that the owners and Stern are causing this lockout. It has nothing to do with anybody’s religion.

Anyway, David Stern is a Council on Foreign Relations member; as such, he is more interested in globalization than in protecting America’s sovereignty. Considering he helped build 8 NBA-style arenas in China after the 2008 Olympics, and the NBA superstars are showing a willingness to play overseas, this “lock-out” is nothing more than an attempt to push the market overseas.

Yup, the Jew you are defending is an America-hating neo-liberal who wants to pull his product out of America and send it to the communist Chinese. Bryant Gumbel is a Marxist, an anti-Semite, and a racist. However, attributing his attack on David Stern, who by the way is a left-liberal and has done a terrible job as a commissioner precisely because of his liberalism, is untenable. Please recall that Gumbel used similar language to the late NFLPA leader Gene Upshaw, calling him a “house slave” for failing to seek guaranteed contracts for NFL players like the ones that exist in the NBA. So, if Upshaw was the “house slave”, then that made the NFL owners “slave owners.” Gumbel ascribes to that old Black Panther ideology, which added a racial dimension to the class struggle. Original Marxism (created by racist whites) held that the upper class exploited the lower class because they were greedy for money and power. Black Marxism – which Gumbel subscribes to – added the idea that the upper class was mostly white, the lower classes were mostly nonwhite, and that capitalism was a tool of white supremacy. So, calling wealthy whites who rely on a mostly black labor force “plantation owners” is common Black Panther rhetoric that has nothing to do with Judaism. Now the black Marxist left did become anti-Semitic over time, although the reason why hasn’t been conclusively identified. It is a curious development as liberal Jews aided – and in many cases recruited and sponsored – black radicalism at least since Joel Spingarn and company founded the NAACP and made the communist W.E.B. Du Bois its figurehead.

Gumbel – and various other blacks – have had it out for Stern ever since Stern instituted a dress code (which Gumbel specifically mentioned) and took other steps (such as encouraging the recruitment of international players) about 10 years ago to address the sharp decline in NBA ratings and attendance. Now keep in mind: Stern is VERY LIBERAL, and as such had a very good relationship with black leaders. Gumbel and company felt that Stern was using racist tactics to win back white fans. (The truth is that NBA ratings and attendance declined among blacks too, but this was ignored.) Gumbel and those with his mindset honestly felt that it would have been better to allow the NBA to go bankrupt over lack of support from white fans than to “pander to racists”, and in their minds when the chips were down, Stern, despite his decades of liberal activism and support of liberal causes, was exposed as just another capitalist willing to exploit blacks when his money and power was threatened. Again, according to this mindset more blacks would have been helped by Stern’s allowing the NBA to fold by “refusing to accommodate itself to the racism of white mainstream culture and corporate sponsors” than harmed by the NBA’s no longer providing blacks income (which, if one ascribes to the “institutional racism” theory, is actually valid thinking, as the NBA only employs a tiny number of blacks, and most NBA athletes fail to properly manage their riches, and as a matter of fact fail to so much as provide for themselves and their families, let alone use their wealth to empower the black community by redistributing it, which has long been a fantasy of black Marxists … amazingly, Bill Cosby publicly denounced the idea that black athletes and entertainers had some responsibility to “spread the wealth” in the black community and instead advanced the notion that blacks were responsible for helping themselves). But the irony that Gumbel, the epitome of black integration and success (derided as a “sell out” by other blacks in the process, including by the atrocious “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” no less) came to view Stern negatively because Stern attempted to reduce the NBA’s depiction of black criminal culture, which was causing young blacks to embrace this culture and become criminals, as opposed to successful, educated blacks like Gumbel! But Gumbel is too blinded by his devotion to his ideology to appreciate the irony. Gumbel also refuses to acknowledge that Stern put up with the underclass culture in the NBA far longer than did Major League Baseball (who began to put a stop to it in the 80s using their minor league system) and the NFL (who started to confront it in the early 90s and finally succeeded with their current commissioner) because of Stern’s liberalism, and cost his sport billions in the process. (Stern really is terrible … the NBA succeeded in spite of him; its success was actually due to Nike, NBC and the NCAA tournament and individual owners and players, and not Stern’s leadership.)

But again, Gumbel’s statement was motivated by black Marxist politics, not anti-Semitism. If you want to make the case that black Marxism is inherently anti-Semitic (a charge that Cornel West has long worked to refute) then go ahead.

I used to have a near-religious devotion to the pro game when I was growing up in Columbus, Ohio.

I would run home as fast as I could to make sure I didn’t miss a single second of my beloved Cincinatti Royals, led by the magnificent Oscar Robertson,take on [and get whipped by] the Boston Celtics[BOO!]

I was running to catch the game on the RADIO, not the TV.That’s how devoted I was.
But those days are long gone, replaced by something that’s hard to recognize anymore.
