Again: Saudi Passenger Tries to Storm Cockpit; Set Free By Police
Hey, I’m sure this is just yet another misunderstood, wrongly accused victim of “Islamophobia.” What else could it be? I mean, Saudi Muslims would never try to enter the cockpit of a plane over U.S. airspace, right? Not like they’ve ever done it before. 9/11 was just our imagination. Probably the guy was a Christian or Jew. No way that a dude named Abdulaziz Mubarak Alshammari from Saudi Arabia could be Muslim. Oh, and by the way, he’s just “confused.” I know when I’m on a plane, I’m “confused” and immediately head for the cockpit, too. Don’t you? That’s normal. Shocker that he’s a Saudi student visa holder . . . or, rather, claims he is. Why is he here? How did he get here? Is he yet another Muslim foreign student who violated his visa? We’ll never know because NO charges were filed and they let the guy go, despite his obvious lie to authorities about being a University of Indianapolis student.
Federal authorities are probing the actions of a Saudi Arabian man who tried to get into the cockpit of an American Airlines flight to Indianapolis last night.
Indianapolis Airport police said Abdulaziz Mubarak Alshammari, 20, was pulled away from the cabin door by another passenger a half-hour before Flight 1936 from New York to Indianapolis International Airport landed at about 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Alshammari, who said he is a student at the University of Indianapolis, appeared confused when questioned by flight attendants and police, according to a police report. Investigators photocopied a note Alshammari wrote in Arabic while on the plane.
Scott Hall, a spokesman for the University of Indianapolis, said the school has no record of Alshammari being a student there.
Passengers said Alshammari walked to the front of the plane, then to the rear, before strolling again to the front. When he got there, he appeared to be looking for a door and started tugging on the locked cabin door.
Capt. James K. Kolostyak heard someone trying to open the cabin door and saw the interior door light come on, according to the report. He called a flight attendant on the plane’s phone system to ask what was happening.
The attendant was at the back of the plane serving passengers at the time. A passenger in seat 4B, Rodney Bailey, age and address unknown, approached Alshammari, grabbed his arm and led him back to his seat, 13B.
Bailey asked Alshammari if he was looking for the bathroom and Alshammari shook his head.
Airport police officer Jonathan Brown talked to Alshammari after the plane landed and said Alshamarri, who spoke little English, didn’t quite understand what he had done.
PUH-LEEZE. He knew exactly what he’d done.
Alshammari said he flew from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to Doha, Qatar, to John F. Kennedy Airport in New York before heading to Indianapolis.
Police contacted The Indiana Intelligence Fusion Center and the FBI Terrorist Screening Center to run checks on the passenger.
Records indicated Alshammari was not on a terrorist watch list or wanted on any criminal warrants.
No kidding. It’s not like they try to send people ON the terrorist watch list to try to get on planes to the U.S. and into cockpits. They pick someone with a clean record. So what? The guy was obviously either trying to commit a terrorist attack or doing a dry run for one.
Again, why is he here? What was his alleged reason for going to Indiana? Lotta questions. But we will never know the answers because the boneheaded authorities SET HIM FREE! Are they following him to see where he goes and with whom he meets? I doubt it.
More:
The man was questioned by police after the plane landed but was not arrested. Authorities took a photocopy of the man’s passport and a handwritten note in Arabic that officials said was written while on the plane.
Nothing to see here. Move along. Do you think if you or I tried to storm the cockpit, they’d let us go?
Guns (and training) should be issued to pilots as part of FAA regs and the muslim trying to storm the cabin should have been shot in the center of mass and killed. Why let him go to just try again another day, this time with experience under his belt.
