VIDEO: Don’t Say I Didn’t Warn You About Early Voting

By Debbie Schlussel
Last week, I wrote about my problem with early voting. People in Ohio and several other states voted before even the first Presidential debate.
I decried this for several reasons, among them 1) that we need common American civic experiences, like election day in November; 2) that people should wait to see what happens in the next month before they vote; and 3) I don’t think we need to make voting easier for people who can’t take the time to go to the polls in November. (Plus, it’s rife with opportunities for fraud.)
Remember, we want to keep the dummies out of the polling both, not ease their entry into them or bringing the polling both to their pot fumes-filled dorm room.

Some readers thought I was over-reacting. But watch this video report from CNN’s island of semi-reasonable liberals amidst Marxism a/k/a Lou Dobbs’ Show. Check out the early voters, including the one in the knit hippie hat, etc. Looks like he just got out of the Hendrix concert. Think there’s any question for whom that stoner is voting? Yeah, we really need to make it easier for these people–most of whom are stupid and Obama supporters–to vote. I can just smell the pachouli emanating from the screen:

(And, yes, Lou Dobbs is, indeed, a liberal. A populist liberal. Yes, he’s good on immigration and was great on the ports deal, but on everything else–healthcare, etc.–he’s a statist. I know. I once had to debate him on, of all places, the thankfully-defunct “Montel” show.)

Liberal democrat changed the rules at the last minute for an important election and in an important state. Huh, imagine that! I still voted absentee and they check those out. My dad got called into city hall to verify his info two years ago. I would be in favor of sweeping rule changes based on a point system of criteria. A favorable score, you vote. Not so favorable, no vote.
1. Veterans get 5 points.
2. Citizens with no felony convictions only
3. Must submit to a blood test for intoxicants, and a I.Q. test. Doesn’t have to be outrageous, normal is fine. Look at all the crazy geniuses. Guards against the mentally ill or alzheimers crowd from being exploited.
4. Property owners get a point.
5. Must have a full time job. etc.
6. etc

This is one of the most absurd posts I have ever seen.
So the dude shouldn’t be able to vote because he’s wearing a knit cap? Do you know that it’s been fairly cold in Ohio that past couple weeks?
Why do republicans assume that early voting means that only democrats will take advantage of that? Do they not realize that it helps them too?
On top of that, check out this email I received from the McCain/Palin campaing ENCOURAGING me to go out and vote early..

Talk about mixed messages..
“We’ll sue to take away your ability to go vote early..but in the mean while, go vote early, as long as it’s for us!”

Debbie,
You are right about early voting. It invites itself to legalized fraud. Since people can vote more than 30 days before an election, the same voter can go to another state and beat the registration deadline and legally vote there too. I work closely with voter registration drives and campaigns and it is all on the “honor system”. Seriously when you pin down an election clerk they rarely have real time checks on who is on the voter rolls and if they are on voter rolls elsewhere. I have seen people get two ballots at the same house. I had someone registered at my house and I couldn’t get that person unregistered since she didn’t live there. Even returning the mail and going to the local registrar and signing a sworn statement she didn’t live there couldnt stop her ballot materials from coming. Liberals hate electronic counting and voting because you can program electronic systems to stop repeat voting and root out fraud. The Diebold paronia nuts have no idea most of their ATMs are made by Diebold, but yet have no problem making deposits or withdrawls. Microsoft, Google or Apple can easily devise electronic voting applications to secure our elections. However liberals want fraud because they want felons, illegals, green card holders, students with two addresses, homeless and junkies voting.
I too vote at the last minute, mainly for strategic reasons. If a republican has no chance then I will vote Independent, Libertarian or other. I like to vote third party because both parties are now like two competing mafias. We keep voting on the lesser of two evils.
I disagree with you about Lou Dobbs is “Liberal”. He is a patriot like you. He is sincere in his beliefs. I think he puts America First. I know he doesnt care for NAFTA and Free trade that have wrecked our economy. He despises our trade with China. China’s lack of concern for our food and safety. I want good jobs here by the use of common sense trade policies so they wont tax me because some dude at WalMart cant afford health care and I must pay out in higher taxes. He talks about outsourcing of good American jobs for cheap products. He is against trucks from Mexico that would wreck our trucking industry. He rails against Teachers Union being in the way of education. He gives Republicans and Democrats hell when either does wrong. He was against the bailout. Just like most of us who are frustrated by failed Republicans and evil Liberals, we tend to navigate toward the Lou Dobbs of the world. I mean capitalsism today means some 30 year guy who flips houses using illegal alien labor with no oversight of his product then sells it to some family who cant afford it and using subprime, no money down, interest only and adjustable rate mortgages. Then says “Dont worry” in two years it will be twice as much. We are tired of being screwed by the POOR and the RICH.
You and Lou dont make excuses for what you believe. I like the passion and convictions you two have. That is what makes you two my best pundits. At least you did say one thing that he couldn’t say that you dont want stupid people voting.

It’s not right that some people can vote early!!! Dammit do you see why I’m pissed off everyday in this country!?

I also don’t think Lou Dobbs is a liberal. I think he is somewhat ecclectic; he takes different positions on different issues, basically calling them like he sees them. For instance, he is against the bailout, and while he takes some liberal positions, including on a number of foreign policy issues, I think he is hard to categorize.

I’m trying to find the story right now, but it’s taking a while. In 2004, a local Utah gang was raided and among the drugs and guns (usual stuff for these psedo-armies) were thousands of illegal absentee ballots.
Also, the local Dems like Salt Lake County “Mare” Peter Coroone (1st cousin to Howard Dean) and others called with recorded messages to vote in this way. No Republicans; they stopped calling for now.
End absentee ballots. If you really want to vote, do it the old fashioned way on Election Day ad show your ID.

I want to vote for the 2012 presidential candidate right now. Is that possible?
