How America’s WWII Soldiers Celebrated Rosh HaShanah

By Debbie Schlussel

While I’m away celebrating the Jewish holiday of Rosh HaShanah, I thought you’d enjoy checking out these Rosh HaShanah postcards sent out by Jewish American soldiers serving in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II.  All of them had the same picture on front, as depicted below.

(“Gut Yontef”  essentially means Happy Holiday in Yiddish.)

Check out some more Jewish American soldiers’ Rosh HaShanah postcards back home . . .

Those are terrific Debbie and thanks for sharing this with all of us you’re readers/fans/followers/supporters/etc., regardless what race, ethnicity, or religion (or non-religious readers/fans/etc. of yours DS) we are.

You’re more different than the rest of the bloggers on the net, the rest of the bloggers don’t share these type of information with their readers/posters, etc. With you sharing the jewish holidays with us DS proves that you indeed care for us. So once again, thanks and Happy Rosh HaShanah Debbie!

Wonderful blog! I found it while browsing on Yahoo News.
Do you have any suggestions on how to get listed in Yahoo News?

I’ve been trying for a while but I never seem to get there! Cheers
