Saudi Caught w/ 5 Weapons, Stun Gun on Flight from NYC; But, Hey, “No Terror Link”

By Debbie Schlussel

A Saudi Arabian (that means, Muslim) man brings five weapons, including a stun gun, on a flight from the U.S., but, no worries, because the TSA says “no link to terrorism,” something they always say when there IS a link to terrorism.” Well, at least he was taking the weapons from here to Saudi Arabia and not the other way around, right?

A Saudi man was busted at JFK Airport after the Transportation Security Administration spotted a stun gun and four other weapons in his checked bag, sources said yesterday.

Mohamed Hefni, 54, was arrested in a first-class lounge at JFK at 4 p.m. Thursday after agents found the contraband in his luggage before he could board his Saudi Airlines flight to Riyadh, authorities said.

TSA Agent Ann Marie McLewd initially spotted the outline of weapons inside a black bag that Hefni had checked — and a peek inside the luggage by TSA Agent Phillip Desnyo revealed a fully operable battery-powered electric stun gun.

Desnyo also found three “electric stun batons,” an “electric stun pen” and a large can of pepper spray in the bag authorities said.

Hefni, who had been living on the Upper East Side, was arrested by Port Authority cops on misdemeanor weapons charges.

Hmmm . . . I wonder on whom this man was going to use these weapons.  And why would someone need a “stun pen,” unless they know they are going to use it one someone they know who is sitting next to them or very close?

Debbie, don’t you know? Stun guns are a dating tool of the Saudi royal family. You see a girl you like, hit her with the stun gun, and then have sex with her. Of course, it is not really rape, because if she did not want to have sex, she should have had her brother or husband standing next to her at all times, per Saudi rules.

So you see, a stun gun in Saudi Arabia is really the same thing as chocolate and flowers are to an American girl.

    That’s quite true

Bart Smastard on September 26, 2011 at 2:38 pm

I believe it does have to do with terrorism, why is the TSA covering up and denying it? And since Mr. Hefni was going back to Saudi Arabia, what was he going to use the stun-gun for? Only god knows, god sees the truth, but waits.

Maybe he went berserk over the vast increase in women’s rights that has just occurred in Saudi Arabia. Maybe they’ll get to drive under male supervision next.

Just because the plane was headed for SA does not mean it would have made it to SA..

Vairy Ann Boutwell on September 26, 2011 at 2:48 pm

You know why they’re not calling it terrorism. They’re concerned about “Islamophobia.”

Rocky Lore on September 26, 2011 at 2:54 pm

Jon and Occam, thanks for the lol.

You know if this was anyone other than an Arab muzzie, CNN, Drudge and all the major networks would have this as a leading story.

Jarhead on September 26, 2011 at 3:01 pm

Stun guns are specifically ALLOWED in checked baggage:

http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm

Where is the terrorist link here? How could weapons/stun guns in CHECKED luggage, inaccessable on the plane or in secure areas of the airport, be used in a terrorist assault on a plane?

Puzzled on September 26, 2011 at 3:11 pm

Jarhead’s sentiment, in which I completely agree with him:

“You know if this was anyone other than a Arab muzzie, CNN, Drudge and all the major networks would have this as a leading story.”

Got that right dude, remember two months ago during the Norway massacre, when the suspect was a non-muslim, the media went into a semi-frenzy that the perpatrator was a “aryan” looking man who had conservative leanings. Don’t get me wrong, I am in NO way apologizing for Anders Breivik, he’s a cold-blooded SOB who deserved to be punish to the fullest extent of the law for what did (when DS wrote the two Norway threads, she condemned what the POS did and at the sametime, that youth group supported “fatah”, which is a islamic-terrorist group in the ME).

“You know if this was anyone other than an Arab muzzie, CNN, Drudge and all the major networks would have this as a leading story.”

Why would the major networks have an arrest for violating NYC’s nanny-state weapons possession laws as a leading story? This is a non-story, regardless of who the guy was.

Puzzled on September 26, 2011 at 3:18 pm

Puzzled – just continue to stay that way. Go bury your head.

I guarantee you if anyone other than the protected muslimes was to get on a plane with a few ILLEGAL weapons, everyone would know about it. Stun guns are banned in NY, that alone should set off a few alarm bells to anyone with common sense. What else was this law breaker doing? You certainly don’t know.

Jarhead on September 26, 2011 at 3:50 pm

New York is one of only seven states that prohibit civilians from possessing stun guns. Are you saying that you support NY’s nanny-state weapons laws?

Puzzled on September 26, 2011 at 4:39 pm

It says he checked the bag so if it was legal for him to purchase the weapons it should not be an issue. If the planes have a policy from checking such weapons then so be it but you can check your firearms in safety boxes so probably not. You all must be mind readers for his intentions which shows you are just bigoted. He may have many legitimate uses for such weapons including self defense. Yes crime does happen in SA as well as other countries in the middle east

yakov on September 26, 2011 at 3:52 pm

Even setting aside the obvious silliness of your position, how many stun devices does one person need? Also, why could these purchases not be made in Saudi Arabia, if it was legal for this person to have such items there? Is not wishing to be assaulted by someone bigoted? Should your name be passed on to the Saudi Interior Ministry or ????? ????????? I am sure Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa would be happy to discuss weapons smuggling issues with you, or at least one of his kindly officers would.

    Worry01 on September 26, 2011 at 4:31 pm

funny story about how i came across this website.. i googled “ignorant racist americans”

Maybe he wanted to acquire these items for self defense back in SA. Who knows. But the reason it is an issue for this forum and its sheep are because he is a Saudi. What a racist bunch.

yvon on September 26, 2011 at 4:08 pm

Yeah, brings weapons on a plane for self-defense in Saudi Arabia. You really do need to give yourself a brain enema before coming on here. Or, maybe you need to cut back on the hasish? Also, why could this person not purchase such things in Saudi Arabia? If they were illegal there, was he smuggling them in?

    Worry01 on September 26, 2011 at 4:15 pm

“Yeah, brings weapons on a plane for self-defense in Saudi Arabia.”

This guy was not “bringing weapons on a plane” in any meaningful sense – they were in his CHECKED luggage, INACCESSIBLE on the plane or in secure parts of the airport. Where is the terrorism? Hell, where is the risk to public safety?

Puzzled on September 26, 2011 at 4:41 pm

Are you into arms smuggling my friend? Also, you know as well as I that you have to declare such things, and not simply shove them into luggage. You are a pretty lousy troll. Hey, if you are paying this guy in anything other than used underwear, you are getting ripped off!

        Worry01 on September 26, 2011 at 7:11 pm

“Also, you know as well as I that you have to declare such things, and not simply shove them into luggage.”

According to the TSA’s list of prohibited items, you must declare firearms, ammunition, flare guns, and starter pistols if placing them in your checked luggage. The TSA site does not say that you need to declare stun guns (or other self-defense items). As for your “arms smuggling” argument – why is it any of our concern that someone is bringing a weapon that is legal in 43 out of 50 states into Saudi Arabia?

Nothing to see here, don’t you know? It’s nothing, move along, move along. 5 stun guns. I’d think he had a few buddies on the plane that he was looking to arm as well. Nothing to see here, move along sheeple.

samurai on September 26, 2011 at 6:01 pm

“I’d think he had a few buddies on the plane that he was looking to arm as well.”

How could he arm his buddies on the plane when the stun guns in question were in his checked luggage?

When they got off the plane in Saudi Arabia my little friend. Ask your caregiver to read these things before you respond. You have enough to worry about with finishing your oatmeal and keeping the drool off of your bib.

    Worry01 on September 26, 2011 at 7:13 pm

“When they got off the plane in Saudi Arabia my little friend.”

What do we care what he does with the stun guns once he got off the plane in Saudi Arabia? Last I heard, it’s not our job to enforce Saudi Arabia’s weapons laws. He wasn’t arrested for arms smuggling, he was arrested for (misdemeanor) weapons possession, for possessing a weapon that is legal in 43 states.

Oh, you are a true criminal then. Thank you for sharing.

“Oh, you are a true criminal then. Thank you for sharing.”

I’m a “true criminal” because I don’t believe it’s the Feds’ job to go around arresting people for minor (e.g., misdemeanor) local and foreign crimes?

Puzzled on September 26, 2011 at 10:00 pm

Yes, it was so perfectly legal that the TSA confiscated all five of them. As you can see, no one is convinced by your sludge. Also, do you advocate bringing weaponry into foreign countries that prohibit it? You are not too bright if you do not think that this site is not monitored. Verbal diarrhea about such things is not a great idea, and your little nickname will not hide you if law enforcement here or elsewhere notes your comments.

        Worry01 on September 26, 2011 at 9:54 pm

“Yes, it was so perfectly legal that the TSA confiscated all five of them.”

The TSA confiscated them because it is against the law to possess them in NY. That is not the case in 43 other states. I’m not saying that what this guy did was legal, only that (a) the fact that he put these weapons in a checked bag was not itself illegal, (b) laws prohibiting stun guns are sort of stupid (just like NY’s laws prohibiting most firearms), and (c) these weapons posed no threat (terrorist or otherwise) to the plane, as they were in an inaccessible checked bag.

Puzzled on September 26, 2011 at 10:27 pm

oh, and (d) that it shouldn’t be the TSA’s job to enforce NY’s misdemeanor weapons laws (that’s NY’s job) or Saudi Arabia’s laws regarding what can or cannot be brought into the country (that job belongs to Saudi Arabia’ Customs).

It’s checked baggage, weapons are allowed in checked baggage. His problem was possessing them in NY. Had he flown in from Las Angeles and was getting a connecting flight out of NY to wherever he would have been ok. But had he gotten possession of the checked bag while in NY, then he has committed a crime.

This has happened before. Due to a missed flight a traveler with a firearm legally checked in his bag was given the bag to wait for another flight. They then arrested him for possessing a firearm in NY.

Ender on September 26, 2011 at 10:56 pm

TSA went a bit overboard here, perhaps, since the stuff was in checked baggage (out of reach of a potential terrorist) and specifically allowed by the rules.

However, I’ve learned the hard way that TSA is rather flexible about these things. When my family’s printed itinerary and papers disappeared at the X-ray counter last year – they were packed in carry-on luggage – I had to ask TSA three times to get them back. I never found out what it was all about.

I have some experience with these types of cases involving smuggling of arms into the mid-east region. Can’t say he is or is not a terrorist based on what is in the article, but he is certainly a criminal entrepreneur to say the very least….small arms and stun guns are worth a fortune on the Saudi black market and are commonly smuggled via personal baggage into SA and other countries for profit. Every man wants one and can’t get one like you can here in the US. It also is a “gateway” commodity which opens up trade and business relations for other criminal smuggling schemes. Readily available cash combined with a culture of self-serving graft and bribes practically guarantees safe passage through Saudi Customs. It is criminally prohibited by US law to export weapons without State Department license.
