Sad: TV Tonight is Choice Between Tranny “Chaz” & Glamorizing Playboy Club Hos
Is it just me, or did you notice that the choices on TV tonight are worse than usual in terms of Hollywood pushing its warped, garbage values on America? The major networks are serving up a choice between a transsexual and the glamorizing of the Playboy clubs that helped push forth America’s “sexual revolution” of AIDS, STDs, broken homes, and out-of-wedlock births comprising over 40% of all live births today. This stuff used to be limited to cable, but now it’s everywhere. You just can’t get away from the pimping of this crap.
On broadcast TV, right now, you can watch the bizarro transsexual “former” woman Chastity Bono dancing around with another woman and pretending it’s like a normal man/woman dancing couple. “Dancing With the Stars” calls all of those who protested this wacked out pretense, “crazies.” But the only crazy person is the fat blob who thinks she’s a man merely because she took hormones and now has facial hair. The fact is that “Chaz” Bono had, has, and will always have female chromosomes, and she will never have sperm. You can make all the Hollywood cosmetic changes in the world, but those things will never change. Biologically, this Bono he/she/it will always be a female, no matter how butch he/she/it now looks. Anyone who pretends this is normal is the real crazy, not those of us who call out this weirdo baloney.
Then, at 10:00 p.m. Eastern, you can watch “The Playboy Club,” where we see how far the definition of “nostalgia” has sunk. NBC pretends that these slutty women of the early ’60s–the ones considered the “hos” of their day with those silly pom-pom tails on their butts–are now the “glamorous” superwomen living an exciting life. That’s just not the way it was, then. Women were not proud to tell the outside world they worked there. And for good reason. The bunnies at the Playboy Clubs were essentially high-class hookers, nothing more.
The bunnies weren’t considered classy, no matter how this show tries to pretend otherwise. They were considered trollops, harlots, easy. And in many cases, that wasn’t without fact to back it up. Despite both Gloria Steinem and Barbara Walters taking their turns in the tawdry Bunny role–or perhaps in keeping with their turns at it, the cheap women who became bunnies were uneducated, low-class women who had no better future. It was something to aspire to as much as “crack whore” is something to aspire to, today. Hey, maybe in fifty years, if there is still TV (and that’s doubtful), they will glorify crack whores as the beautiful people. “Idiocracy” isn’t just a movie about the year 2500. It’s the here and now in real life.
Sadly, everyone is getting in on the act of this revisionist history. A week or so ago, the Detroit Free Press Sunday Edition ran three pages on former Playboy bunnies from the clubs. These women were cheap-looking then, and they’re still cheap now. Many of them were divorced or single mothers, haggard, uneducated airheads, now in their ’60s. It’s one of those cases where snobbery–ours–is a good thing and vastly underrated.
And let’s not forget what the Playboy Clubs were about, back then. They were revolutionary in the sense that married men could go there to easily cheat on their wives behind closed doors, and single men could go there to meet multiple, easy, no-strings sex partners in a day when that wasn’t accepted out in the open the way it sadly is today. But the clubs, hand-in-hand with Steinem and Walters feminism helped make empty sex the common, wanton behavior that it is today. The men who went to the Playboy Clubs, back then, were embarrassed to admit it, unlike the casual bragging about going to strip joints today.
That’s the crappy state of TV today. You can watch “Antiques Roadshow” on PBS and be considered old and boring. Or you can join the American celebration of messed up sexuality and the slut clubs of yesteryear that led to the open acceptance of that messed up sexuality, today.
This is the stuff that the Bin Ladens and Zawahiris of the world were all too happy to use as public relations tools about how warped America and the West have become.
I predict “The Playboy Clubs” will get huge ratings, tonight, but then it will fade, and I’ll bet it isn’t around, next fall. I’m taking bets at which will die more quickly–the show or 80-something Hugh Hefner, the father of the clubs. The gimmick of Playboy is as dead as the magazine. And if we want to see a show that looks like “Mad Men,” we’ll watch . . . “Mad Men” (which also pretends to be classy while glamorizing cheap, soap opera behavior that simply wasn’t as available back then as the show pretends). And as for “Dancing with the Tranny Stars,” the stunt with Chaz/Chastity Bono, well, sadly, this homely, talentless daughter of a plastic surgery victim who won’t face that she’s almost 70 (Cher) has built a whole career on a whole new “talent”: I used to be a chick.
And only in 2011’s fading America and waning culture is that a talent.
“Reality” TV programming sucks.
They’re full of people you don’t want to meet in life. Buy or rent last season’s mainstream shows. You won’t miss a thing tonight and I’ve learned to live without cable.
