10 Yrs Later, WTC “Rebuilding” is Limp, Weak Testament to American “Resolve”

By Debbie Schlussel

Aside from America’s increased pandering to Muslims and refusal to recognize that they perpetrated 9/11 and pose an ever-increasing threat to America’s survival, the biggest failure–ten years after 9/11–is the fact that we did not rebuild the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center and do so bigger and taller as a sign to the Islamic world that we came back bigger and better.  That would have been the greatest memorial possible to the 3,000 Americans murdered by Muslims on 9/11 and other Americans they murdered since (and before), not the silly waterfalls and pools. “Reflecting pools” are for New Age basket cases, leftist pansies, and former hippies who need something to bide their time before the next Grateful Dead concert. “Reflecting” is a euphemism for mosques and Islamic prayer rooms illegally established in public universities and airports. We’re America. We don’t need to “reflect,” like some self-absorbed upper-class liberal paying big bucks to a worthless psycho-analyst. We need to move onward and upward with gusto. And we didn’t do that.

How a Nation of Wusses Will (or Might) Rebuild the Towers More Than Ten Years Later . . .

Instead, we cowered to them by refusing to rebuild the Towers at all.  Instead of rebuilt towers, they are, again, meaningless pools of water.  And the surrounding buildings, after ten years of political correctness, are barely rebuilt.  Even the “Freedom Tower” was renamed because New York/New Jersey Port Authority officials didn’t want to offend Muslims.  Wusses.  And only 74 of its 104 floors have been built.  None of the buildings are as tall as the Towers–a sign of weakness and impotence.  We should have built them all taller.  Check out the drawing above.  I’ve drawn in the World Trade Center Towers and how they would have looked (in red and hot pink).  (Please forgive my lack of draftsmanship.)  It’s embarrassing.  The World Trade Center Twin Towers had 110 floors each.  The tallest building now, One World Trade Center,  is–or, rather, will be–only 104 stories.  That’s if it is completely finished as planned.  The Towers were taller.  Without the old One World Trade Center’s spire, the buildings were 1362 and 1368 feet tall.  With the old One World Trade Center’s spire, that building was 1,727 feet tall.  The new One World Trade Center will be taller than that by a mere few feet only because of the spire.  But, again, it has fewer floors.

How We Should Have Rebuilt the Towers . . .

Only Seven World Trade Center has been entirely rebuilt (and it reopened in 2006).  The fact–that only one of the Ground Zero buildings has been entirely completed ten years later and that they are all shorter–is embarrassing.  It tells the world we take forever to recover from the hits and attacks by Muslims.  And it tells them that our “recovery” is limp at best, if at all.

We should be ashamed.  Our enemies are laughing at us.  While they continue to build ever-taller skyscrapers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and all over the Gulf–concepts they ripped off from us, we are stuck in intractability, political correctness, and the impotence of eunuchs.

I would expect higher skyscrapers in the Mideast. After all, we and the European nitwits are subsidizing the Arab Spring.

Duh, if this is the spring, I’d hate to see the summer.

Little Al on September 11, 2011 at 7:38 pm

I agree with you Debbie! We are slowly and sadly becoming more wussified(if that is a proper word?). Look at how long it has taken to even build a few stories of the new buildings! I read and saw a report on the (of all places!) CNN asking why it has taken so long to rebuild the towers. The report mention about
the enviromental concerns, but it mentioned that there was a dispute as to what was to be built. Everyone wanted something that showed “healing” and compassion and as on person interviewed said,”they wanted a memorial that showed USA as a tolerant country to all people and not some capitalist money making building oppressing poor people of the world…” AS soon as I heard that, I knew that America is on the down track toward disaster.

Today’s generation do not know how to be defiant toward our enemies anymore. There are still few people that join the military especially the Special Forces?Navy SEALS,Green Berets, etc.)that have that REAL warrior mentality. I do not mean that New Age touchy feely of the “peaceful warrior” that is being preached now to our military when it comes engaging in wars.

I have noticed that many americans will bend over backwards to tolerant but you can bend over backwards so much until your spine snaps! I blame the usual culprits, the leftist liberals, who will burn down and destroy american property or deface a jewish synagogue with Nazi swastikas, yell and scream “seperation of church and state” when christianity is mentioned just briefly in public forum. However these liberals walk on egg shells when it comes to a mosque being built or sharia law being imposed in a neighborhood and any justified criticism of islam will be countered with the accusations of racism and xenophobia.

    AMEN!

Tammy on September 11, 2011 at 8:33 pm

Mario, do you actually KNOW anyone in Special Forces? I have news for you. My husband is a Special Forces soldier, and you don’t get to be the best of the best without the warrior mentality. Now, I agree with you that they are often hamstrung by the commanding officers (especially our current CinC) who are so busy being politically correct that they make it virtually impossible to take the fight to the terrorists. Like the whole “joint forces” crap where we have to be “respectful” of the troops from other countries who only want to fight every third Thursday and even then only until 4 PM so they can pray or whatever. I’ve heard my hubby’s colleagues say that if it was just the US, the Brits and the Aussies, with our GENERALS running the war, we’d have been out of Afghanistan and Iraq a long time ago.

But, that said, we should have gotten to work immediately building the new World Trade Center buildings, and the heck with the “feelings” of victims’ families, CAIR, or anyone else who thinks it would have been “insensitive” or defiant. Darn right it’s defiant! This is AMERICA!!! We’re arrogant and defiant and proud and strong and wealthy and we should never apologize to anyone for it! We’ve earned it because we ARE the best country in the world. And if you live here and you think someplace else is better, you’re welcome to leave and go live there. We should have spent the 10th anniversary of 9/11 with the grand opening of a new Krispy Kreme in the NEW World Trade Center towers that should have opened five years ago!

NOTE: Before anyone gets their panties in a wad about the Krispy Kreme comment, I say that because two days before the Twin Towers fell, I was there, at the Krispy Kreme at the WTC with a friend of mine who lived a couple of blocks from there. Two days later I was at home watching the whole tragedy on television, afraid for my friend, and knowing the the United States was now at war.

Yes I do know several people in the Special Forces community. Three are from Marine Force Recon and two are Navy SEALS. I served in the USMC for 10 years(1987-1997), starting as an 0311 (basic rifleman) as a Private. I got out as an 0369 (infantry leader) with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

I do not know if you read my actual comment. I served most of my enlistment under Billy Jeff (President William Jefferson Clinton)and I saw what PC madness his administration brought to the military. I was not denigrating anyone in the Special Forces. I was referring to the general military where it has become a big government largess. For example, Debbie has commented on how the military is becoming another welfare with camouflage uniforms when it comes to single mothers. I have seen that myself and the consequences it brings about.

I talked to my fellow Marines from other MOS’s coming from a 6-8 month sea deployment have to go back out again in 3 months because the female in their unit got pregnant and they need to fill the required manpower of a MEF (Marine Expeditionary Force. Many were gone for almost a year and some did get out of the Marine Corp after their first enlistment was up because many did not want to put the added strain of not being there while their child was growing up. I can continue with the more added nonsense that also made me leave the Corp in disgust with the politicians in suits and uniforms.

I never denigrate our military service members either in the regular units and special forces. I just hate that at the cost of the lives of our members, we have asinine rules of engagement, winning hearts and minds drivel, and being “meals on wheels” for every country that, instead of appreciating US aid, immediately accuse us of imperialism.

Debbie, speaking of limp, weak responses, what have you heard about the Frontier Airlines flight and the American Airlines flight today that ended up having fighter escorts because of unruly passengers? All I’ve seen in the MSM is that “passengers” (no nationality, ethnicity or religion indicated) spent the flights getting up and going into the lavatories, sometimes together, and when asked to stop by flight attendants refused. I believe there were three on the Frontier flight and three on AA. Now I know that the airlines don’t usually call the police and have people escorted off of planes just because they hogged the bathrooms. And I seriously doubt that NORAD scrambles fighter jets because a passenger locks him/herself in the john. But darned if I can find any reports that indicate why six Amish (or other devout religious) people were arrested and fighter jets scrambled today. I know those Amish can be annoying, but fighter jets??? So, since the Frontier flight landed in Detroit, have the local stations interviewed other passengers on camera? Are they reporting anything the AP won’t?

DG in GA on September 11, 2011 at 9:01 pm

Just an addendum: United Airlines 3681, from St. Louis to Washington Dulles had to make an emergency return to the gate just as they were about to take off when it was discovered that two passengers claiming to be air marshals were, in fact, NOT air marshals. No word on whether these two passengers were Amish.

Also, I was just reading a piece about how Mayor Rudy Giuliani, in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, said that the towers would be rebuilt bigger and better than ever. I wonder if Rudy could have continued as Mayor instead of that pantywaist islamist-appeasing RINO Bloomberg, would the Towers be back already?

DG in GA on September 11, 2011 at 9:44 pm

@ DG, I’m wondering if there will be any news of passengers assisting in the restraining of scum bags. I’d imagine there might be with all the cell phone cams around. If I simply had to travel on this day I’d be ready like a cage fighter going into a big match.

I was wondering why it was taking so long to rebuild the WTCs. This is outrageous. (Of course, this along with other related developments having to do with 9/11–two of them having been discussed here today alone. Sigh!) I hadn’t seen Debbie’s previouis article linked above until now as I was reading this current post. I also love the designs that Debbie did. This is why we need you, Debbie.

There is also another reeason why we should build the WTCs as tall as Debbie says–or taller. That being it would be economically beneficial in terms of there would be that much more businesses that would operate there.

JeffE on September 11, 2011 at 9:09 pm

I watched the Rising series on the new World Trade Center. At the end of one such segment, I was appalled to learn they had created the tallest building after the Washington Monument which I understand is a pagan phalyx (fertility) symbol. I just don’t know how much more God will take of the outrageous tudes going forth here. The building(s) with the finger(s) on the top pretty muchly expresses that attitude of the designers toward God.
God help them! No wonder He seems to be allowing muslim encroachment on NYC(& else where) You get what you ask for!

Jeanette Gayhart on September 11, 2011 at 9:32 pm

Debbie it looks to me like we are not building a bigger, better WTC tower due to the likelihood it would be attacked again. I think we can chalk
up another victory for global Jihad in NYC. Also as the proud owner of a Y chromosome I would be remiss if I didn’t wish you a hearty Mazal Tov on your football Lions victory. I’m sure you are shlepping lots of naches from the ruach and neshamah they displayed on 9-11. .

Was it just me or did anybody else think, while looking at the picture from msn home page of the REFLECTION POND with people all around it, they were looking at that giant square in arabia where the muslims circle and worship that black rock?

Here in the US we have 2 giant squares where people can worship.

Maybe Debbie Schlussel can put photos comparing both sites.

Just as thought

Mark Steyn in his recently published “After America” writes that 9/11 was something America’s enemies did to us; the ten year hole is something we did to ourselves. He’s right. (Good book, by the way.)

I’m curious about one thing. Putting aside the merits of the two sunken pools (personally, I think they’re just wrong) what happens when it snows or gets below freezing? A similar thought struck me when I first visited the World War II Memorial here. Turn off that water and what you have are two holes in the ground. Yes, the WTC rebuilding effort has sent a powerful message. Too bad it’s the wrong one.

RiDC: Mark Steyn, FYI, has repeatedly ripped me off, and when I called him on it, he feigned indignation. He went on Sean Hannity’s show to discuss a column I wrote on exclusive info I had on an imam from going undercover to that Imam’s Hezbollah rally. He didn’t give me credit or mention my name, just ripped me off and presented it as his own personal knowledge, after I risked my life to attend that event. Then, in his “America Alone” book, I read a number of my good lines that he just flat-out ripped off, like when I had written columns in 2002 on Townhall about female homicide bombers and said, “Thank Heaven for Little Girls.” Then, he wrote the same line in his book in the same context. He did that with a number of his columns. The guy is a flat-out plagiarist.

The stuff I wrote about the Ground Zero rebuild, etc., I’ve said on my site many times before over the years, and he ripped it off, including the part with “the finger” for his appearance last week on Rush Limbaugh. The guy is a ganif. Period. I delete most references to him or “his” ripped-off over-hyped “work” from my site. I am wondering how many of my lines he stole for his latest book. People need to know what a thief that fraud is. If you’ll note, when he’s on the air, he’s not naturally funny or witty, and he “comes up” with this stuff by ripping others off. He constantly laughs at his own bad jokes on the air, a sign of someone who isn’t funny and knows it.

Mark Steyn is more evidence that Americans fall for con men with English accents.

I disagree with debbie on a lot of stuff… this is not one of them. As a nj resident who is in NYC all the time for business I am aghast by how slow anything has been built at ground zero. I also agree we give the islamic bastards an FU with a tall building. They can not defeat us, even if they take out our tallest buildings. If we build smaller we are telling them they won, F**k them, build it right back up. Show them what a real country is. They have no real country to point to as an example of what is good… we do. Screw them, Screw PC, Tell the World America is better. perfect? no. but goddamn way better, period. And to my friends lost at CFitz, we all miss you hear in Edison NJ, streets bear your names but your families bear your absence.

It is a defeat. The very fact that it took so long to accomplish so little is very troubling. It is a cenotaph for the defeated.

This website shows some ideas for rebuilding the twin towers. I think it’s too late now, but their ideas seem much better than what we are actually getting: http://www.triroc.com/wtc/

Max Kuenkel on September 12, 2011 at 6:32 am

We live in a very different era. Its impossible to imagine we wouldn’t have done this after World War II. I don’t understand why we’re the ones who act like we have something to be ashamed of! After we were the victims. Rebuilding the Twin Towers would have told the Islamic World, “screw you, we’re back, you’ll never tear us down, this is America.” We couldn’t bring ourselves to do it – maybe because we’re really conflicted about them and because we can’t bring ourselves to get over it and move on. A decade later, for various reasons, it looks America hasn’t moved on and may never do so at all.

The Chicago Fire was a disaster. The World Trade Center bombing was not a disaster or a tragedy and I never let anyone call it either of those in my hearing. It was a massacre. But I think this poem by Whittier is relevant. It shows what was once the American attitude.

The rebuilding (or lack of rebuilding) fiasco will be seen as a major victory by the Muslims. The reason is their tribal totemistic psychology.

To understand Islam we need to look at the most primitive organisational state of mankind – Tribalism.

If we regard the Ummah as a tribe, and the Koran, the Pedophile and the Black Meteorite as the tribe’s three main totems, we begin to get a better understanding of Islam. A tribe derives its identity and unity by displays of reverence towards supernatural totems, and feels insecure and threatened whenever the power of its totems is weakened, for example by the totems being ‘humiliated’ or ‘polluted’ as by the Motoons and the Koran in the toilet.

One of the surest ways of demoralising a tribe has always been to desecrate its totems, and the Muslims regard the twin towers as our totems… http://crombouke.blogspot.com/2010/01/triumph-of-islam-how-primitive.html

Debbie: Could you point those fingers toward Mecca?

Gracie on September 12, 2011 at 10:15 am

Dynamite stuff, Debbie. It’s an embarrassment the 7 smaller buildings.

Yesterday was a weird, somber day for me and the WTC re-building plans symbolizes all that is wrong and why I feel queasy and have constant anxiety about our future with islam looming over of us. I saw on TV for the first time the memorial “pools” – an overhead shot- and they look like sewage holes on a bathroom floor when you install a toilet. Furthermore, the “light beams” remind me of a gigantic victory silent “call to prayer” to remind muslims of their great achievement in the US in 2001. Both are symbols of emptiness – voids – subtle reminders that muslims can just make we infidels disappear at will. Made me sick.

DS_ROCKS! on September 12, 2011 at 12:37 pm

I wonder what we would’ve done had only one tower fallen…..or if only one tower had been struck.

Would we demolish or repair the remaining tower?
Would we rebuild the fallen tower?

Anyone?

guitarguy on September 12, 2011 at 12:45 pm

I think the towers should have been rebuilt, sympathetic to the original design with only some technological improvements made in terms of safety etc.

The only building of the new World Trade Centre complex I actually really like is the new transportation hub designed by the brilliant architect Santiago Calatrava.

As for the comments about towers in the middle-east — well, I don’t think nations should aspire for “my tower’s bigger than yours”.Most of the towers in the Mid-east are hideous and testament to what Sharia-lovin’ oil Sheiks think is good taste. They also require foreign nationals to inhabit them and make them viable with their skills as burka clad ‘intellects’ just don’t seem that adept at anything beyond Microsoft paint. Manhattan obviously needs towers however because space is tight so buildings go vertical. And the Twin towers should have been rebuilt.

Leaving the footprint of the former twin towers as a symbol for ‘reflection’ really agitates me.All it does is try to turn the catastrophe into some ‘memorable’ moment for people to gaze lovingly, with tears in their at the sadness of the spectacle .What it doesn’t do is state why the towers collapsed — and that’s due to Islam.

It’s truly crass — as Obama is depriving Jews of property rights in THEIR country, he’s supporting a victory mosque beside ground zero. How exactly did Muslims get to decide and dictate the discourse of buildings after 9/11? They will have a symbol of victory over the infidel to ‘reflect’ upon. The rest of use will have two craters. Hardly a air trade, is it?

Barry on September 12, 2011 at 1:15 pm

I suspect the committees are full of muslim panderers, especially due to the fact that the church cannot get permits to complete their rebuilding/repairs near the site, yet the mosque-to-be got permission. If the truth were known, I suspect Bloomberg and his friends are at the bottom of the church bias.

This fawning, Opra-ized, Dr. Phil fake reality Court, blubbering mewling competitive grief society built on social media (which is nothing but puppies milling around sniffing each others butts and searching for Mommy’s teats) has so outraged me I can barely lash words together.

3,000 died at NYC

It’s happened before

Get the Hell over yourselves

The 9/11 “Memorial” … is a hole in the ground.

NYC chose to make a “memorial” to jihad success. That hole in the ground is a permanent reminder of what they accomplished!!

A travesty of self-flagellation and graft. And total stupidity.

Wanna see the Memorial where 24,0000 Americans died on our soil????

Google Image Search SHILOH Battlefield memorial

13,964 Union soldiers killed in action

10, 449 Confederate soldiers killed in action

Eight times as many Americans killed on USA soil and it’s a simple block of marble that memorializes the tragedy

Where’s Mayor Bloomberg, Oprah and all the rest holding candleight vigils and weeping non-stop? That’s right … it’s pnly when it happens to the NE Media Centrist backyard that such things matter.

**ck the lot of’em.

NYC gets a half a billion dollar monument to Oprah-competitive-grief, rife with ululation, political back biting, in-fighting and shame and a testament to jihadist ingenuity.

Men who died defining and shaping this Nation got a block of marble.

My rage is almost boundless at this point …..

Jack on September 12, 2011 at 11:42 pm

One dumb question:

Why can’t NYC replace the Twin Towers with 2 towers that are each HIGHER than the Burj Effing Khalifa?

As for the water memorials – with all respect to the do-gooders and those who have lost ones, they make great urinals for the homeless (and other unmentionable creatures).

“Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people. The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is the demand for their real happiness. To call on them to give up their illusions about their condition is to call on them to give up a condition that requires illusions. The criticism of religion is, therefore, in embryo, the criticism of that vale of tears of which religion is the halo.” – Karl Marx

What they should build on the spot of these big holes is a big great mosque. Like the ones in al-hambra, they are beautiful. Must nicer to look at then ugly skyscrapers.
A synagogue or a cathedral would also do, but make it something beautiful to give people hope not some ugly shiny stick that looks like all others.

Symbolism is important, but those buildings are a waste of time, money and effort. The old wtc which was supposed to fund the p.a. (port authority) pension fund, never made a penny. A huge waste of money. Same again. Billions wasted on political b.s. and the usual nyc 20% skim for the mob and crooked pols which we ny’ers now have to pay for through toll increases. And all the money given to those children and other heirs, what about our servicepeople? what do they get?

bikerrich on September 13, 2011 at 12:01 pm

It is all Pataki and Bloomberg’s fault that the new WTC is being designed as it is. Cronyism at its worst. Towers 2 and 3 are the worst of the buildings; they do not belong in the NYC skyline one bit.
