Surprise: Another American Muslim Jihadist/Al Qaeda Trainee

By
About a week ago, the government of Ethiopia reported that two American fighters were caught among the Al-Qaeda terrorists in Somalia. Although it was reported in the weekend papers (in, predictably, a tiny blurb), I was waiting to hear the names and stories of these two U.S. citizens.
Today, one of the names was in the papers (also in a tiny blurb–USA Today), as well. The Associated Press has the full story on American Muslim convert, Daniel Joseph Maldonado a/k/a Daniel Aljughaifi a/k/a Abu Mohammed, who was indicted:

A former Houston man arrested in Kenya last month has been charged in Texas with teaming with al-Qaida to overthrow the Somali government and form an Islamic state there.
Daniel Joseph Maldonado, 28, a Muslim convert also known as Daniel Aljughaifi and Abu Mohammed, was ordered held without bail Tuesday on federal charges of undergoing military training with a terrorist organization and conspiring to use a destructive device.
Maldonado was returned to the United States on Monday night and appeared Tuesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Calvin Botley, the U.S. attorney’s office in Houston said. A detention hearing is set for next week.
Maldonado’s arrest marks the first criminal prosecution of an American suspected of joining terrorists in Somalia, Assistant Attorney General Kenneth Wainstein said in a statement.
According to the criminal complaint, Maldonado, a Boston native, traveled from Houston to Africa in November 2005. By December 2006, the complaint says, he was in Somalia and had joined with the Islamic Courts Union and elements of al-Qaida to fight in a rebellion designed to overthrow the Somali government and install an Islamic state.
The complaint says Maldonado was issued an AK-47 rifle and attended two military training camps at which members of al-Qaida were present.
Maldonado was captured by the Kenyan military on Jan. 21 as he fled Ethiopian and Somali forces. He was expelled by Kenya and turned over to U.S. officials for his return to Houston. . . .
Maldonado told FBI agents in Kenya that he went to Somalia to fight “jihad,” or holy war, for a true Islamic government, according to the complaint.
“I would be fighting the Somali militia, and that turned into fighting the Ethiopians, and if Americans came, I would fight them, too,” he is accused of telling the agents. He also told the agents he had “no problem” with killing Americans or with the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, the complaint says.

But, it’s the “Religion of Peace,” right?

Muslims will never be loyal to this country. They can only be loyal to the “Muslim Nation.” When will we stop listening to soft-headed moronic Lieberals and realize that Islam is not like other religions? Imans are always talking about the “Islamic Nation.” The week after 9/11, I saw a Pakistani Mullah on “60 Minutes” say, “One day, God willing we will live to see the flag of the Islamic Nation flying on top of America’s buildings.” When push comes to shove, Muslims will side with their Jihadist brethren, not with “dirty Infidels.”

Ah yes, all Muslims hate America and want to burn it to the ground. Also, did you know that Catholics cannot be trusted as Presidents because they will only follow the Pope? And Jews are all Zionist Nazis who owe ultimate allegiance to Israel.
Long story short, assuming that all people who belong to a certain religion are going to conform to the stereotypes you want to impose on them is a silly enterprise.

There is nothing in Catholic or Jewish teaching that tells followers to lie to, to kill and to enslave non-believers. Those dictates are contained in the Koran. There is no such concept as a “Catholic Nation.” There is such a thing as the “Islamic Nation.” Muslims are being urged to disobey the laws of the “Infidel” controlled countries they live in. Why are the spokesmen for American Muslims, Jihadist supporting groups like CAIR? Why do “mainstream/moderate” Muslims believe it is their duty to help further the goal of Islam “DOMINATING” the world. I’ve never heard a Catholic or Jew say they want their religion to conquer and enslave the world. No one is imposing a “stereotype” on Muslims. They are presenting an image to the world of their own making. Those Muslims who don’t believe in the intolerant words contained in the Koran never speak out and say those words should be removed from their Holy book. Why?

FreeThinker…have you ever READ the old testament? We are talkingthe kind of vengeful God who smites the Children of Israel for not murdering the wives of their enemies, and order the annhilation of whole populations. And there is definately a Jewish nation (Israel, and if you are a Jew in the US who questions its policies you must hate yourself). As for the Catholics…the Universal Church. They really believe that the whole world should be Catholic, and all other religions are apostasy, even if they are somewhat forgivable.
Why do moderate Jews support AIPAC, which lobbies for convicted traitors who betrayed US nuclear secrets and fights for Israel’s continued ability to violate its agreements with the US? Because they don’t bother to check what the organization actually does with the money, they just think “Hey, this is from my ethnic group. Must be good.”

Oh, and need I mention the Catholic Americans who gave to the IRA in its bloodier days?

Those statements in the old testament are not being used today by Jews and Christians. The commandments in the Koran that tells Muslims to slay and enslave the Infidel are being used today by Jihadists. Don’t distort reality with absured arguments. You have yet to refute the truth of my statements about the nature of the Muslim Nation. There is no equivalent to that in the Christian or Jewish world.
