TERRIFIC! Video: Michele Bachmann on Israel

She has been derided as Sarah Palin’s twin, but Michele Bachmann is no Palin, and, hey, she’s actually served complete terms in office without quitting. Yes, she’s had some gaffes (including comparing America’s high taxes to the Holocaust), though they are very few. But, overall, I’d be happy to vote for her. I like this short video Bachmann made, which is getting slammed by the anti-Israel, anti-Semitic “Jewish” group, J Street. When that group attacks something or someone, you know the object of the tirade is doing something right. Interesting note: Bachmann spent time volunteering on an Israeli kibbutz. That’s an experience I recommend for everyone.

I did not see last night’s debate, so you should feel free provide your assessment of how she and the other candidates did in the comments. There is at least one candidate from last night I’d NEVER vote for: Ron Paul. Not high on Mitt Obomneycare either, as he repeatedly refuses to condemn his church’s multi-millions in contributions to a HAMAS Muslim charity that uses the money to proselytize Islam and apparently fund terrorists around the world. Unfortunately, right now, it looks like “Mitt Happens.”

In any event, watch these videos. Glad she gets it completely. If only everyone else would.

Debbie, I thought you didn’t care for her views. What’s changed?

She certainly is a Tea Party favorite. Her main strike against her is being a Representative but Obama served one term in the Senate without any major accomplishment other than running for President.

Bachmann is nowhere near as controversial or polarizing as Palin and she actually still has her day job!

NF: No, I pretty much agree with her views and generally have in the past. I think she’s gotten much better in being more articulate in the past couple of years or so. I do, however, resent this BS the right has adopted from the left that I must love and gush over someone just because she is a woman. I don’t care about identity politics and internal plumbing. DS

OK. I agree about Ron Paul, not just his hostility to Israel but his general libertarian philosophy that I don’t think works in the real world. Mitt Romney strikes me as a flip-flopper, someone who comes across as slick with no real principles – and his embrace of Obamacare in MA when he was Governor just turns off conservatives. Sarah Palin has a media profile but she’s not particularly bright and people just don’t like her. Hermann Cain is another flip flopper and he doesn’t have ethics. As for the other candidates, Bachmann and West deserve to be better known but West is a newcomer so if we’re going to have a woman President we can hardly to do worse than the anti-Hillary Bachmann represents.

About Palin being bright and likeabie: everyone’s entitled to an opinnion, but not to state opinion as fact. It’s starting to remind me of militant atheists dropping anti-Christian slurs into articles about muslims. Do not understand the flailing around regarding Palin, which is what it seems like when people just can’t resist slapping her in unrelated material. Can’t we leave that to the left?

Just wanted to mention that, while an article explaining policy differences with Palin is one thing, slip[ong in a cheap slur in an otherwise excellent post, is beneath you. You’re too good to drop PDS comments in unrelated articles, as the left does.

There’s not much for the GOP to go for in 2012 and another Dead White European Male won’t cut it. I’d say either Allen West or Michelle Bachmann. At least they stand for all the right things and they can only be an improvement over the current White House incumbent, who is an absolute disaster, who makes Jimmy Carter look competent.

I agree with you about Bachmann, Debbie, and would vote for her above anyone else in the field currently running. She’s no Sarah Poser, who proclaimed herself as the leader of the tea party. Fortunately, leadership within the tea party shot her down. Bachmann is certainly no quitter. She does have her faults but they are miniscule compared to the baggage the rest of the republican pack are carrying.

I believe Bachman has an excellent hsot a the nomination given Republican Party priamry rules (Winner takes all) if she does well in the Iowa caucuses and I believe she will. I certainly support her.

I am very upset that Keith Olbermann is no longer at MSNBC. He would foam at the mouth whenever he discussed Bachman. He discussed her often.

I’ve always liked Michelle Bachmann, but something that really bothered me about her is that she is always trumpeting the Constitution (great), but then this term one of the first things that she does is vote to extend the “Patriot Act” because “she has kids”.

The Patriot Act is one of the most unconstitutional laws ever passed and I just could not believe that a champion of the Constitution could ever vote to extend it.

I like Bachmann a lot, and I live in MN. In addition, I like BTO a lot, too, and I certainly hope “Taking Care of Business” becomes the campaign’s theme.

I completely agree with you on Ron “StormFront” Paul. This guy is WORSE than Obama on foreign policy and Israel, if such a thing is possible. I’m sure J-street loves him.

OT, you forgot to mention that Ron Paul along with his son Rand Paul wrote numerous articles for the hateful, far-right group “Council for Conservative Citizens” along with Pat Buchanan.

Stormfront is not the only white supremacist website on the internet, also there’s this website called “VNN fourm”, and they are extremely similar to stormfront (anti-black, anti-hispanic, anti-semitic, etc.).

As Debbie learns more about a candidate she can change her views about her. She initially liked Palin and then went out to become one of her main critics. I think she didn’t like some things about Bachmann, saw these videos and became more inclined to support her. I think not because of symbolism but because she has views Debbie agrees with and has defended here. It comes down to knowing what its to be a conservative and being able to communicate those views with consistency and conviction and as opposed to impressing people with designer clothes and empty BS. We unfortunately get too much of the latter from politicians today.

Ron Paul’s views on foreign affairs are indefensible, although like a stopped clock, he is right on Libya. has weakened his views on illegal immigration. Anybody supporting him should be aware of that.

Michelle Bachman is head and shoulders above the rest of this group. Re her gaffes, they shouldn’t be held against her. When someone is speaking extemporaneously, under pressure, slips like that are inevitable, although in her case, considering the voluminous number of speeches and comments she has made, they are few and far between. Haven’t all of us, at times, when talking with friends or colleagues about political issues, or in a classroom, made statements that we later realized weren’t entirely accurate?

The fact that Romney is in front means the Republican elite has accepted Obamacare. Gingrich is a clown, Pawlenty is a moderate pretending to be conservative; his ‘inability’ to attack health care last night means he really isn’t against it; if he was, he would have attacked it.

Cain knows nothing about foreign affairs.

Rush Limbaugh is already making excuses for this gaggle; he said that (to paraphrase) all of them would be better than Obama, thus relinquishing any pretense of criticizing the Republican ‘moderates’ except on a sporadic and inconsistent basis. His most telling comment was to praise the candidates for avoiding the ‘trap’ of sounding like right wing extremists, showing what he really thinks of such ‘extremists’. He will walk a fine line supporting the moderates but trying at the same time not to lose his base.

The country has drifted to the left for the last 100 years with brief respites in parts of the 20s, early 50s and early 80s. Moderate Republicans have not halted this drift, and Bachman is the only person I see who has a chance of reversing any of it.

I agree with Debbie identity politics shouldn’t be part of it; we should support a candidate who has the right values, not the right internal plumbing or skin color. That should be the only criterion someone gets our backing. A woman shouldn’t be forced to back a woman, a black, a black, etc. Its simply demeaning. We are after all, more than the sum of our parts. What we believe in matters more than where we come from.

Little Al, speaking of Limbaugh, three years ago Limbaugh endorsed Mitt Romney for president, it’s a fact!

Of course Rush would say that any of those Republican candidates will be better than Obama is because Limbaugh is a water-man for the GOP! Now, did any of those candidates mention “immigration” or the threat of “islamofascism”? No NONE of them mentioned it (I’m assuming Bachmann didn’t mention either immigration or islam, so I wouldn’t jump on the Bachmann bandwagon just yet), and I knew it was going to be a “show-trial” debate and the moderators didn’t bring up the important issues, instead, the moderator threw them softball questions.

If someone is expected to serve as the nation’s leader, its Chief Executive, one would hope that person has some leadership or executive experience, where they are responsible and accountable. One doesn’t get that as a legislator where one is but one of 100 in the Senate, one of 435 in the House.

Let’s compare, say, Reagan with Obama. The first presided for many years over the Screen Actors Guild, then terms as Governor of a large state. Pretty good leadership experience. Obama in contrast was an “activist”, then headed the Woods Foundation where he distributed other people’s money before becoming a legislator. Where’s the leadership experience? Look around his team. How many of them have real experience beyond the law, academia or politics?

It’s for that reason I’ve long argued that a former governor at the top provides that “buck stops here” experience, while a Senator or Congressman as VP provides both a connection to the legislative branch but also potentially some foreign policy exposure. West is something of an exception as he’s led men into battle – now that’s leadership. And with some seasoning he could be ready for the top spot. For now I’d put West or Bachman in the second spot. But it’s still early.

Now, on the MB. I have always liked her but have been watching her closely because Tammy Bruce (a very open Palinista) has alleged that MB is a stalking horse for Flip
Floppney and I was troubled by Ed Rollins being in charge of her campaign. That idiot Rollins was in charge of the Huckaphony campaign back in 2008 and we know how that was set-up to blow Flip Floppney out of the running. I’m still looking into this opinion/angle.

I like Bruce but I am not a Palinista. However, as I am open to her opinions, I am still trying to flesh it out on my own. The truth is what interests me in the end.

I’m gonna watch the videos now and I will follow that link regarding Romney’s link to Hamas. He is getting more Liberal EVERYDAY. He’s into AGW and I do think his strategy is to get all the moderates and independents who are disallusioned with Zero since the true Conservative base want NOTHING to do with him.

Sometimes you need the right opponent to draw a contrast. Stephen Harper got his wish of having a strong left to contrast his conservative party with and then a low tax, tough on crime and pro freedom platform looks and sounds more centrist. If it can be done in Canada, it can be done anywhere. You just have to know what to do with your mandate.

We do need a change of direction in our country. Obama has gotten us bigger government, a government that backs our enemies instead of our allies and which has made our economy a lot worse than when he took office. No one on this forum wants four more years of the same.

As for Ron Paul, he would have us move from being over-regulated by government, to being over-regulated by big business. In other words, I do not want to see the land raped, bad medicines hitting the shelves (Ron Paul wants to eliminate the FDA), or a give away of our National Parks to the big money interests.

There is a balance amongst the capital, the workers, industry, and voters, and government. Right now, that balance is extremely tilted towards government and the unions. I do not want to see the the balance extremely tilted towards the moneyed interests and big business, either.

I also like WI Governor Scott Walker. Its rare to find someone who is will to confront the entrenched forces of socialism and try to cut them down to size. The government union-friendly courts in his state are seeking to undo his hard work this winter but that’s why we have elections and that’s why you fight for real change. Most politicians in this country understandably want to be popular and to keep getting re-elected but if the only measure of political success is leaving things as they are, socialism gets more entrenched with greater government control over our lives.

Ok, those videos of Bachmann WERE terrific. That is what I would want my candidate for Prez to say…and team that up with a candidate being FEARLESS (and it’s also TRUTHFUL) about Islamic jihad. The Islamic jihad part seems to be the hardest part. DS has convinced us 100% about that there is NO distiction between “moderate” Moooooslims and fanatical Mooooslims. Her evidence is complete and can circle world threefold.

Trouble is, that most peeps (EVEN so-called CONSERVATIVES) seem to be unwilling to publically agree with the absolute truth of that. We expect that from dumb Libs, but so many so-called Conservatives are UNWILLING to speak plainly and truthfully and boldly like DS. This is our biggest problem.

Just this AM, Michael Graham (a talk show host who has LOST JOBS to Moooslims going after him for speaking truthfully) characterized Herman Cain’s INITIAL statement on his unwillingness to hire Mooooslims for his cabinet as “idiotic”. We all agreed his INITIAL statement was NOT idiotic, but his back-peddling WAS. I am still disappointed in that. When a smart Conservative like MG (who is newly re-married to a Jewish woman) who has had CAIR come after him with a vengence, and who claims to speak the “natural truth” equivocates like this, it is not good for Conservatives, the truth nor is it the “natural truth”. I’m not standing for that equivocation ANYMORE.

Sean, I did not get to listen to Rush today (I will read the transcripts…) but since Zero was elected, I have been beyond pleased how much Rush does NOT carry water for the GOP anymore.
He has been excellent on calling all the frauds on the carpet and that INCLUDES Gingrich and well-known straw-dogs like that fool Huntsman. I will admit that he doesn’t say anything bad about Palin. He also doesn’t diefy her either.

Back to my initial point…about even Conservatives NOT wanting to see the truth about Islam…it is a HUGE problem and one I see as the hairiest at this time. I read the link about the Mormon Church’s contributions to Hamas and I see almost EVERYONE is infected and cannot see the forrest for the trees. We need to break that bulwark down and NOW.

Whether you like Palin or not, that shot about her being a quitter was a cheap one.

The Alaska ethics law allowed anyone to bring repeated, baseless charges against her and at the same time forbade her from forming a legal defense fund to offset the cost of her defense. She spent $500,000 of her family funds on her defense; that translates to two full years of gross income taken from the family.

How many years of your family’s income would you spend to stay in office when you had a good, conservative Lt Gov to take your place?

I’d stay in office, show my critics they’re wrong and work my butt to get re-elected. The good fight isn’t always easy but if you can explain it to people, they will understand. Common sense is easy enough to convey. When it comes to Obama and his bureaucracy, Debbie has so much fun writing because what he does and it does in his name is just counter-intuitive. He may look like the smartest guy in the room but he has a tin ear for retail politics.

The question was how many years of gross income, your own money because donations were not allowed, would you spend to accomplish this.

Based on her released tax returns, she was already over two years of gross income in the hold with no end in sight. She spent that on complaints such as the fact that she wore her husband’s racing team jacket. Would you refinance or perhaps sell your house and tell your kids to forget about college for the sake of devoting your time and energy into fighting critics who were not just wrong but mean spirited curs? I would not.

David, I am interested in your post because there is a tinge of Tammy Bruce’s theory in it and as I said, I am trying to suss that out on my own. Not that I don’t trust Ms. Bruce…I was a fan of hers when I was a Liberal and it is good to see she changed sides (to certain degrees) as well.

Coincidentially, she has re-stated her theory on Bachmann. That she is working for the establishment as a stalking horse for Mitt Romney and perhaps part of her job is to get in not only for MittForBrains (the establishment pick) to obtain the front-runner position but also to chop up the Tea Party vote IF Sarah Palin decides to run. (I happen to think Palin will).

Is it true? As I said, I am trying to find out. Your post reminded me of her theory.

Since I am not a Palinista, I am NOT hellbound for Palin to run. At this point, I am still dis-satisfied with the lot!

Re experience, the thing about political leadership is that politics and political platform trumps organization. While all types of experience are valuable, a candidate’s politics, and the amount of confidence we have that (s)he will implement those politics, comes first. Organization is always second. What good is organizational experience if it does not support politics that we are comfortable with?

@Little AL Thank you for the recant on illegal immigrants regarding Ron Paul. You are right about one thing- Ron Paul sticks to his solid positions & principles, a characteristic no one seems to be interested in these days. Ron Paul has had the same stances for over 25 years, it’s a shame that barely anyone takes the time to find out what he is talking about. As I read the comments I realize that people like to make up what they think Libertarian means. Do you think personal liberty is important or do you like the Federal government meddling in your life?

A true conservative wants to give power back to the states and stop the massive growth of the Federal government in our lives. Let big business take over the parks? That was one of the responses I read about Ron Paul in this thread. Really? The lack of understanding of Paul’s points is disheartening to say the least. Is that your concern when the Federal Reserve continues to print (fake) money, keep interest rates artificially low and mettle in the housing market? Why do you think we experienced the financial meltdown in 2008- because the federal government let free market capitalism prosper? How can 12 people on the Federal Reserve board ( who have all worked for large banks) have American citizen’s interest at heart? Let the free market rule- take away ‘the fix’ of enormous government ruling hand and let us get back to true liberty. Against raising taxes? Guess what inflation is? Yes, it is a hidden tax on the poor due to artificial market conditions like keeping interest rates low. Notice the price of groceries going up lately?

Try reading a bit more about these topics. Try absorbing what really happened when the Federal Reserve was formed by reading The Creature from Jekyll Island and the U.S moved away from the gold standard in the 1970’s ( what inspired Ron Paul to get into politics after being an obstetrician for many years.)

Then take a trip to your closet National Park- the last one I saw in California last summer was in a state of disrepair. The Feds are running out of money, and they print the stuff. The Postal Service is bankrupt. We have a national deficit of 1.5 Trillion. Medicare is bankrupt, Social Security is bankrupt. THINK.

Many national parks are, to a degree, operated on a contract basis.

Ron Paul is a liberterian. The Liberterian Party has supported the auctioning off of National Park land, and the development of the resources within the Parks.

A true conservative believes in conservation. Conservation means protecting the G-d given beauty of this country. One does not have to be a left winger to see that there are some things worthy of saving, even if big business interests with strong Party ties only sees $$$ when they see a giant sequoia, or a trout stream that can be dammed for power. Some things are worth saving.

It would have been a great national loss to see a place like Assateaugue Island turned into a housing project.

Having said that, the National Park Service brings in many billions of dollars in revenue into this country, as people from around the world come to see natural wonders found nowhere else.

Ron Paul would have us go from being over-regulated by the U.S. government to being over-regulated by powerful business interests. Do you really want to eliminate the FDA? Ever hear of Thalidimide? Look up what Thalidimide did to the unborn children in Europe, and then see that the FDA kept the drug from being marketed here.

I am a conservative, and some would call me an archconservative. However, we have learned from history, that government, when reigned in and properly controlled, serves an important purpose in balancing power modern and crowded society. I do not want to go back to a society of poisonous drugs, child labor, etc. that my grandparents and great grandparents went through.

Barry Goldwater, the father of modern conservatism (is that an oxymoron), saw the need for some government regulation. He believed in national parks, the FDA, and certain key government regulations. He also correctly saw many as wastes of money that did nothing that took away or liberties.

Ron Paul cannot draw that distinction.

Ron Paul is a simpleton.

Government has a legitimate role to play in national defense, in ensuring public health and safety and in protecting the environment. I don’t view safe food, safe streets and clean air and water as ideological issues. I view them as public interest issues. Some things are too important to be left to the market. At the same time, I don’t agree with the Left the government should run our lives. Conservatives seek to strike a balance between making sure the public interest is well served with protecting individual freedom. Its not as black and white as leftists and libertarians would have us believe.

Skunky, i don’t think they have definite plans, i think they just test-market different products to see what voters will buy. Sure, Bachmann will go along with being a stalking horse if that’s all she can get, if she can win, she’ll do that. The Republican party requires two things from candidates: raising money and total loyalty. America doesn’t even figure in their plans. They support things when it’s convenient, they rail conservative from a safe district or in the Republican primary, but the people who give their party 100’s of millions of dollars every election cycle have no interest in limited government or a sovereign, prosperous middle class. They need a plantation. At least Bachmann can talk, it’s painful listening to Palin, but Bachmann’s gonna sell us out so fast..there’s a slick sales pitch for a reason, she chooses her words so carefully because she’s a typical, insincere lawyer who is trying to trick us. Liars are very careful, like Obama.

Mel Reynolds spent a summer volunteering on an Israeli kibbutz. Mel was hailed by the Jewish Community as a “dragon slayer” who defeated Gus Savage. Reynolds’ seat is now held by Jesse Jackson Jr. under circumstances Debbie knows all too well. So much for “volunteering on an Israeli kibbutz.”

FYI, Mayor Rahm Emanuel once boasted that he was the only member of Congress to have “actually served in the IDF”.

I think Bachman’s service on an Israeli kibbutz should be taken with the same degree of seriousness as the Magen David Sarah Palin wears around her neck.

Bachmann is wrong – as are many confused Christians – about Israel. Israel is NOT the foundation of the Christian faith. Christ is. Israel as a nation is NOT “the apple of God’s eye” – she was His chosen people as a nation to shine His light among the pagan nations and bring the Messiah, Jesus – Who is the Christ, into the world. Judaism is NOT the foundation of Christianity – it was the temporal religion God created to show man how sinful he is and point the way to Jesus as the only One who could keep the law on behalf of God’s elect.

Jesus was a Jew, but the Jewish religion is not the basis for Christianity. He is the cornerstone of Christianity and was hated by most of the Jews because He was turning their world upside down. All the seed-bearers of Jewish and pre-Jewish history recorded in the Bible were elect of God and all children of God are spiritual seed of Abraham, for not all who are children of Abraham according the flesh are true Israel; only those born of the Spirit of God are children of Abraham according to faith. Jesus kept the law for all who believe on Him. His identity was not tied to His earthly birthplace or family tree; it was and is tied to His Father in Heaven, for His kingdom is not and will not be of this world.

@John Grant I have read many of his books and cannot find anything on Paul’s supposed stance to sell off our national parks to corporations. Where did you find this information? Will you share a link please?

Perhaps Paul points out simple fixes to issues that people are not used too because the government likes to make them seem so difficult so they can further their big spending & military industrial complex (which brings in a hell of a lot more money for the country than the National Parks btw.) Let’s see- if we stop invading other countries they might not want to harm us. What a simpleton that Ron Paul is. And I wonder, why the majority of the other candidates in the debate kept saying ‘As Ron Paul said’ the other night. I wonder why the Tea Party began from his campaign in 2008 and eventually ended up changing the face of the Republican party? Why does the Republican party now parrot his message on many issues? It must be because of that Duke Medical School graduate, Air Force flight surgeon, 11th term Congressman; that simpleton Ron Paul.

So we have Debbie, Ann Barnhardt and Michelle Bachman 3 very intelligent, erudite women. They are role models for all conservative women across the world. We conservatives in Australia admire and respect them, we stand with them for Israel and the western way of life, and if it gets heavier, we will not back down.

When compared to uh…uh… Beavis and Butthead aka (Barack and Joe), Bachmann and Palin begin to sound authentic. At the very least, they’re more qualified. Which begs the question: why do White people allow themselves to be duped so easily by some “community-organizer?” Is he really that good at BS-ing?
