Detroit Jewish & Muslim Leaders Agree: “Rev. Wright Ain’t Such a Bad Guy”

By Debbie Schlussel
**** SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE ****
As you probably already know, Rev. Jeremiah Wright is speaking at this weekend’s Detroit NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner.
What you may not know is that Detroit’s organized, unelected, unrepresentative Jewish community is unwilling to speak out against Rev. Wright, despite his open anti-Semitism, anti-Israel, and–most important–anti-American sentiments. And what you may also not know is that Detroit’s Muslim community has been so enabled by these unelected “Jewish leaders” that it is lavishing very thick praise upon Rev. Wright.

Won’t Condemn Anti-Semitic, Anti-American Rev. Jeremiah Wright . . .

I’ll begin with the “Religion of Peace.” I’ve long criticized Detroit Newsistan editorial page editor Nolan Finley for making his pages the new home to Hezbollah, HAMAS, and other agents of terror. He has the dubious distinction of being the only editorial editor of a major newspaper to give an agent of Hezbollah and an employee of the late Ayatollah Khomeini–Imam Mohammed Ali Elahi–a regular column in which to spew his hate. I also blame the Jews. The unrepresentative Jewish Community Council of Detroit constantly broke pita with this guy. And I blame Bush judicial nominee, U.S. Attorney Stephen Murphy III a/k/a “Abu Porno,” for going to this guy’s mosque and repeatedly applauding and praising him, including his support for Hezbollah.
Today, Elahi–whose mosque is said to be the second largest in North America–wrote this, in an anti-Semitic diatribe against Israel:

Rev. Jeremiah Wright is a shining light, bringing dignity and integrity to our nation. His voice represents the mission of Jesus and the call for freedom and justice. This voice of truth and peace has become a victim of hateful media harassment. . . .
Wright has already proved his love and loyalty to our country in his many years of military service and in three decades of community leadership. He is not one of those church leaders who sold their souls to politics with no service to the image and moral salvation of this nation.

Good to know that one of the most extremist imams (repetitive phrase) and former Khomeini sidekick is now an expert on the “mission of Jesus.”
More:

Imam Mohammad Ali Elahi . . . said that during his sermon this afternoon at his mosque he plans to “condemn the unfair treatment” that he says Wright “received by some media members who are ignoring this faith leader’s decades of dedication and services to this country and nation.”
Elahi said in a release that he plans to make his remarks during today’s Friday sermon, which is traditionally the most attended service in Islamic centers, ahead of Wright’s talk Sunday in Detroit at an NAACP dinner.

Then, there are the “Jews.” Here is some of what Rabbi Aaron Bergman–who, sadly, heads a Jewish school and will soon have a major position at a key Detroit synagogue and who is a fan of Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison and defender of animal abuser Michael Vick–wrote to temper his withering statement about Rev. Wright:

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright served his country admirably in the military. He has been a vigilant fighter for the rights of African-Americans and has shown unusual sensitivity to those struggling with HIV/AIDS and those in the gay community. . . .
There is a long way to go before we eradicate racism and other great wrongs. . . .
The NAACP may honor whomever it wishes. I hope, though, that other powerful voices at the dinner will call for a true love of all people and a desire for fairness for everyone.

Wow. So glad we Jews and Americans have such a vocal, strong advocate on our side. Thanks, Rabbi. Didn’t you know Passover is a time to celebrate freedom from bondage, not praise Pharoah?
Would love to see how the esteemed rabbi would temper criticism of Goebbels in the early 1940s:

They have acted admirably in making the trains run on time. They and Dr. Mengele have been vigilant in providing free medical care, unusually sensitive to the needs of those in (Warsaw) ghetto neighborhoods.

And finally, there’s my fave super-Jew, Robert Cohen of the Detroit Jewish Community Council–the man who goes out of his way to defend extremist Muslims and anti-Semites. On Rev. Wright, he would only say this:

“We hope that (Wright’s) comments Sunday serve to unite a broader community, rather than divide it,” said Robert Cohen, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Bloomfield Hills. He declined further comment.

So glad he’s lookin’ out for the Jews. And so glad he’s lookin’ out for America. Here’s what he might’ve said in 1940:

We hope that Goebbels’ comments Sunday serve to unite a broader community rather than divide it. Beyond that, I decline to further comment.

It should speak volumes that to get a Jewish leader to speak out against the anti-Semitic, anti-American, anti-Israel Rev. Wright, the Detroit papers had to go all the way to Pennsylvania, so wimpy and spineless is the Jewish establishment of Detroit:

The Zionist Organization of America, a New York-based Jewish activist group with a membership of more than 30,000 members nationally, called for the Detroit NAACP to rescind its invitation to Wright in an April 14 letter to Anthony.
Morton Klein, the organization’s national director, said he was not sure whether the local chapter will hold a protest at Sunday’s dinner.
“This is a man who has promoted hatred against America, Jews and whites and it’s almost totally based on lies. Jeremiah Wright owes an apology to America,” said Klein. “This is the type of person the NAACP should be fighting. I just don’t understand the NAACP culture in Detroit to make this invitation.”

Thanks, Rabbi Bergman and Mr. Cohen, for adding yet more shining examples of the stereotype of the weak, liberal, defenseless Jew.
Goebbels only wishes he lived today.
*** UPDATE: An astute reader from Ireland writes:

Black Americans want to do away with racism, but pray tell, how do you do this when their premier association has a RACISTS of the highist degree?
This man is pure poison and should be denied by everyone who is a Christian and also all Jews who are the founding Fathers of Christianity.
God help us all, when Jews who are the most fervent defenders of Freedom in all it’s forms cannot find in it’s heart to rage against this BIGOT and JEW HATER.
God Bless.

Amen, Brother.

Now if a white guy had gone off like this so called Reverned…ACLU would be on the doorstep screaming racist before he could step off the podium.

As Passover draws to a close, one can’t helped being reminded that was it easier to bring the Jews out of Egypt than to bring Egypt out of the Jews. After thousands of years, some Jews still want to remain servile in the face of the enemy and hanker after his fleshpots. The only true loyalty the Jew should owe is to G-d.

Anyone who ever LISTENED to the whole speech: http://essence.typepad.com/news/2008/03/listen-to-rev-j.html will see that Rev. Wright is comparing this cuntry to the original Israel…and anyone who ever read the bible will see that EVERYTHING he said is steeped in scripture!!!
Of course NO ONE READS or LISTENS so this is why soundbytes and news blurbs are the main source of information for a nation of MORONS
As for Mr Ireland…you must be an Orangeman.

These Jewish misleaders have learned nothing from history. In the late 1930s, supporters of the Nazis were holding rallies all over the country, and attacking Jewish people & gatherings wherever they could. The response of the organized Jewish community was really pathetic — little or no effective opposition against them. It fell to some Jewish members of criminal organizations, and extreme left-wing organizations to oppose the Nazis, and there were actually a few effective mobilizations. I am very far from endorsing left-wing lunatics and criminals, and certainly they had their own anti-American agendas, and were inconsistent in opposing the Nazis. It is just a sign of the ineptness and lack of backbone of the Jewish community and ‘liberals’ of the time that such leftwingers and criminals played this type of role.
At that time, not nearly enough conservatives stood clearly against Hitler (i.e. late 1930s). Today hopefully things are different, and conservatives will continue to take the lead against crazies like Rev. Wright, in spite of some opposition from within our own ranks, like some pseudo-conservative politicians and talk-show hosts. We can’t depend on the organized Jewish community, but maybe if a strong movement against Wright and similar demogogues gets going, some Jewish organizations will join it.

Reverend Wright is anti-Semitic too now? Can anyone supply a quote? Anyone? Wolf? c f?
Or is this just more nonsense.

Audacious on April 25, 2008 at 4:41 pm

Audacious, aren’t you aware of the trip Wright took with Farrakhan to Libya? Or the honors his church gave to Farrakhan? Anti-semitism is the main feature of Farrakahn, and Wright has associated himself with this creature. Not to mention his on-the-record identification with Palestinian terrorists; anyone who supports Palestinian terrorists is anti-semitic.They kill Jewish people indiscriminately because they want to rid the Mideast of Jews & drive them all into the sea. Can’t you recognize that as anti-semitism?

What self respecting jew could want to associate with this so called reverend? I’d like his credentials.

Debbie is going to have to do a fellow up report about liberal Jewish support for an extremist Muslim cleric in New Jesey, one Mohammed Qatanani, whom federal authorities are seeking to deport for lying about prior felony offenses in Israel on his immigration application. There was a profile on him today in the New York Times. Several years after 9/11, it should obvious to every one that people with prior felonies are ineligible to be admitted to and remain in the United States. But some still don’t get it.

Okay, I think the anti-Jeremiah Wright mess is getting a little shrill and out of hand. Right now on Websites, TV, and radio, it’s ALL Jeremiah ALL the time. Before Obama, hardly anyone outside of Chicago even knew who this man was. RACISTS of the highest degree? Huh? This “astute reader from Ireland” must live a truly sheltered life is he believes Wright is a “racist of the highest degree”. Hell, I bet even he never heard of Wright before Obama came along. Wright has run for no office, led no political movement, and didn’t have followers in the streets bombing buses or buildings, or plotting for the violent takeover of the American government like “racists of the high order” are openly doing. Last I heard, he lives in some ritzy predominantly White neighborhood in Chicago and has stepped down as Senior Pastor of his church…okay…real signs that he is about to launch the Fourth Reich for some people I suppose. Now folks want to RAGE against him as if he is the rebirth of the Fuhrer and organize “movements” against him. My Lord, this whole Rev. Wright thing is getting just crazy!
Folks are right in condemning Rev. Wright but damn….Let’s not go overboard. Rev. Wright and his rather upper middle class congregation pose no danger to some “astute reader from Ireland” or anyone else for that matter. When there are folks with swastikas and others who are actually practicing out there in the woods with guns and grenades for some type of racial holy war against Jews and Blacks, I think some folks need to calm their hyped-up selves down and put the whole Rev. Wright thing in perspective.

c f: “Can’t you recognize that as anti-semitism?”
Nope.

Audacious, eminem, you too are useful idiots. Just like the community leaders that embrace the rev. wrong.
You show your true colors by embracing the devil.

You know, Deb, there is gonna be change no matter who wins. The candidates who the country need to appear on the scene aren’t and we’re just stuck? Will Israel continue to get smaller? probably? Will we endlessly, looking toward the future, find new bigotted and anti-semitic people in positions of leadership? Yeah. Will you ever be satisfied with anything. Nope. Your blog, though informative, is now tired to near the point of dead – not because of your endless rants but because there is no voice of reason appearing to bring the USA to its feet and prior (225 years ago or thereabouts) standing. So, what have YOU been doing that’s ‘green’ lately?
