Another Great Reason to Shut Down Feds: No New Lawsuits

By Debbie Schlussel

While it unfortunately looks like the Obama feds and the GOP leaders will come to some sort of compromise to avoid a government shutdown, today, I received the e-mail below from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.  According to the e-mail, after two weeks of a shutdown, filing federal civil lawsuits would be “severely impacted.”  And that’s bad because . . . ?

Not Such a Bad Thing

Subject: Impact of Federal Government Shut Down on the Eastern District of MI – USDC
To: writedebbie@gmail.com

Dear Deborah Schlussel, During the first two weeks of a shutdown of the Federal Government, we do not anticipate any significant impact on court operations or services in the Eastern District of Michigan. The Federal Judiciary has fee generated and other non-appropriated funds that will allow it to temporarily fund all court operations. In the event a shutdown lasts longer than two weeks, court operations and services may be severely impacted. Additional information will be provided if a lengthy shutdown occurs. The Bar and public should continue to monitor the Court’s website at http://www.mied.uscourts.gov where updates will be posted as needed. To reiterate, in the event of a general shutdown of the Federal Government, there will be no immediate change in Court hours or services unless otherwise noted. Please visit the attached link for the official national news release from the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts website regarding a government shutdown. http://www.uscourts.gov/News/NewsView/11-04- 05/What_Happens_to_Courts_if_the_Federal_Government_Closes.aspx **PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL**

Hmmm . . . a temporary stoppage of the endless litigation explosion. Not such a bad thing.

Like the courts, there are many areas of the federal government that should be shut down for a long time until they are overhauled . . . like the borders and the rubber stampers at Citizenship and Immigration Services who repeatedly grant citizenship to Islamic terrorists and other malefactors.

A break from bidnezz as usual would not be such a bad thing.

Most people wouldn’t notice a change in their lives if the federal government wasn’t in business for awhile.

Republicans like to talk about small government but are hypocrites about putting their philosophy into effect.

We have a $100 trillion deficit and we can’t manage without Uncle Sam for a couple of months – maybe until next fall?

Puhleeaze! The sky won’t fall down if the government was shut down. Life would go on as usual.

“The sky won’t fall down if the government was shut down. Life would go on as usual.”

NormanF, that’s the same thing Judge Andrew Napolitano says.

How many times does a government shut down during a typical year (i.e.: federal holidays, etc)? How many times has the government shut down due to not having a budget, etc.? (I know under Carter, the government shut down six times.) All these government shut-downs over the years has not prevented its obscene growth, its intrusions into our lives, and its attacks on this country’s constitution. Too bad our politicians are not going to be affected by it (nor permanently laid off due to it either).

Norman, to be honest with you I didn’t know our deficit was $100 trillion dollars, Obama has made it worst, but the meltdown of our economy didn’t start under Obama, it started under George Bush Jr. back in November or December of 2007. And we remember all of the banks being bailed out in 2008, speaking of which, why haven’t Henry “Hank” Paulson and Christopher Cox not be investigated for what they did to our economy in 08 (also remember, Paulson was the former Treasury Secretary under Bush coming over from Goldman Sachs, and Cox was the former SEC under Bush)?

Hey Sean, great question on “Shifty” Paulson.

Jerry Doyle is faaaaaaar from my favourite talk-show host but what I did think that he tackled more than anyone was how crooked “Shifty” Paulson was and that he should be doing time.

(Also, JD is not asked to go on Fox anymore because he went on the “curvy couch” with an “arrest shifty Paulson” t-shirt. The dopey am crew thought he was nuts.)

Skunky, Paulson should be in prison right now for what did to our economy, unfortunately, there are some to a few of us on right who continue to say that “Obama started the destruction of the US economy, and it’s his economy, etc, etc, etc,”. I continue to say to myself that Bush started the meltdown of this economy within the last few years of his administration.

Now earlier this week, I was on another right wing site and I explained the samething to the posters there and a few of them told me that I don’t know what I was talking about, “that the economic meltdown began under Carter, etc, etc,” they could not have been any wrong. The few posters where giving the same old conservative establishment talking points and NOT acknowledging that Bush started economic meltdown a few years ago.

I know what you mean Sean. Lots on the right have their sacred cows and don’t care about the truth.

If you call out Fraud (PAWNN) News on HA, they character assassinate.

And HA (which has become a liberal-esque in-fight site) has many loyalists who come out and do all they can to de-legitimize DS. They made it so that if you sight DS as a source, that alone debunks it.

Glad I am not of their ilk.

Skunky, I think Hot Air (HA you referred to) is a joke, I never posted a message on their site but a few weeks ago I happened to browse their and one of their archives their were some posters who used stupid ad homienim attacks against DS, and there were some who took the side of DS and explained the whole truth. A year ago before I got kicked off of Breitbart, I posted a link from this site regarding Sean Hannity’s Freedom Concert scams, etc. Days later I notice that Breitbart’s moderators changed their website and decided that they didn’t want me post their anymore, you know what, it’s their loss not my loss, I don’t need Andrew Breitbart’s website at all. Some of the so-called conservatives are an equivalent of the left wing MSNBC and to be honest with you Skunky, the so-called conservatives are disgusting a little more than the leftist.

Slackerism knows no ideology or party. Its human nature to be comfortable with given assumptions. That doesn’t mean they’re always right and in particular with respect to a government shutdown the issue today is vastly different from what it was in 1995. But no one wants to do some independent thinking. That’s the problem with political thought in this country today.

NormanF on April 10, 2011 at 7:17 am

Yep, Sean. We don’t always have to agree w/DS, but what I have learned here is if I doubt her…I just have to wait (and like it or not, time proves her more right than wrong). Or know my stuff more than her…which is rarely the case.

I hate HA. The site has devolved nto losers looking to disembowel their own.

Plus both sites are NOT independent thinkers.

And HA deletes posts by those who dare to present Moooooslims in the truthful way. Those so-called Conservatives have become their own HuffPo and Daily Kos.
