Four fundamental rules to remember when naming a child:

1. If your child is a boy, and your last name is a common noun, do not name him “Harry”

2. If your child is a boy, and your last name is a common plural noun, do not name him “Seymour”

3. If your child is a girl, and your last name is a common noun, do not name her “Ima”

4. If your child is a girl, and your last name is a common plural noun, do not name her “Lotta”

Just don’t have a noun for a last name.
