Wow. Yes, your are right and this is very sad. I have always loved Aerosmith (musically, up to “Done With Mirrors”) but what makes him think he can get away with this gross behaviour at his age?

I remember seeing the 14 year old scandal story on cable. It was one of those behind the scenes shows. His music doesn’t sound the same to me anymore. Like Michael Jackson stuff. Nugent has been benefiting from the short memories of a generation of idiots as well.
As I recall another band member was recalling the situation with some AMUSEMENT. Obviously he didn’t give a damn then or now.

I have never watched “American Idol” but I have seen all of these clips because I do watch the first 20 minutes of Jimmy Kimmel’s program (And then usually shut off the TV. His interviews are never as entertaining as his monologues).

From the few clips I have seen of the program on his show and elsewhere, the whole thing looks like a deliberate exercise in psychological cruelty. It appears that the producers always make sure there are at least one or two contestants on every program who are completely tone-deaf, but genuinely aren’t aware of that fact.

When someone commits a serious crime, I will admit to feeling a genuine cathartic joy upon seeing them having to face the humiliating experience of being filmed while getting led away in handcuffs and an orange jumpsuit out of the courtroom on their way to prison (think O.J.)

I do not, however, enjoy watching some poor soul who obviously had previously only performed before members of his/her own family (who are all probably equally as tone-deaf), get up in front of millions and suddenly be alerted to the fact that he/she has absolutely no talent in such a publicly embarrassing manner.

Back in the 70s, one got the impression that most Gong Show contestants were kind of in on the joke, and knew they were just there to get laughed at in the first place. With this show, it simply doesn’t appear that way. From what I’ve heard, they not only film them making fools of themselves on stage, but also follow them with cameras off the stage after the performance just so the home audience can revel in their humiliation. Sorry, but I take no pleasure in someone being punished just for having a lack of self-awareness vis-a-vie their performing abilities.

I have no comment about Tyler’s inappropriate leers at some of the younger female contestants. When they gave him the job, I’m sure the casting directors were well aware of the fact that they weren’t exactly hiring a “refined gentleman of worldly charms and manners.”

A ubiquitous and impotent debate tactic is the old redirect and belittle the other strategy when one is unable or ill-equipped to argue the issue at hand, which in this case is the fact that Tyler is a sleezy guy.

In the time management category, its hard not to notice that you yourself seem to have time, indeed, not only to visit this site, but to also comment on said article on which your judgement refrenced. For my money, altho you are a dissenting opinion, its time well spent by DS.

Accordingly I would be willing upgrade you out of the house-plant category provided you conceed that the super bowl symbol does really look like a big hard, throbbing, erect, male mamber…not at all dissimilar to what we all understand happens to Steven Tyler when he sees an underage female…

I remember when Aerosmith came out in the late 70’s they had a hit , but were not that special. And they still aren’t. …As for American Idol…..it’s BS Karaoke, an insult to any band that ever took to a stage at the local bar and later went on tour, and an insult to any songwriter who actually took the time to write a song. Cowell? He’s part of the problem. He nees to be doing late night infomercials for kitchen utensils. In short, I want to watch Idol like I want to watch an elephant take a dump.

Let’s not forget that he didn’t know he was Liv Tyler’s dad for many years, basically until she started getting into acting.

On a funny note, we briefly saw the season premier of “Idol” this year, and my son looked and said “GOD! Who’s that old lady next to J. Lo?” Once I stopped laughing and could pick myself up off the floor I explained it was actually Stephen Tyler, lead singer of Aerosmith who ironically had a song called “Dude Looks Like a Lady.”

BTW, in the second video where he was going ch-ch-ching, J. Lo wasn’t smiling. She was gritting her teeth! LOL

American Idol is no different than the rest of the Hollywood culture.

They showcase 12-16 year old girls, and sell them on their sexuality. Then, when they hit their 20s most get thrown away if they haven’t already fallen into drugs/sex/rehab.

Why any right-thinking parent would want to have their children see any of this, or worse yet believe in any of it, is beyond my comprehension.

It’s freakin’ American Idol, an entertainment show, and it is more entertaining than ever this year.

In case you didn’t know it, or refuse to believe it, Steven Tyler is America’s greatest living rock star. He is our Mick Jagger, like it or not. I’m thrilled that he decided to do this show during Aerosmith’s down time.

Can he be a little creepy? Of course he is, I’d be dissapointed if he wasn’t and he hasn’t let me down.

What does the public think of him now? It was just announced that Aerosmith sales have shot up 250% since Idol began this season. Plus, a new album and tour are planned right after the season finale.

In other words…genius move on Steven’s part.

And Joe Perry being the “decent one”… Ha Ha, good one.

I was unable to watch the videos you posted, but if you watch the Aerosmith video “Jaded” with Mila Kunis, you will feel sorry for her and see the pedophiliac undertones in that video. Steven Tyler is positively VILE! He looks like a crazy, strung out, creepy woman and his big lips have always scared me! I can’t imagine a woman being attracted to him!! UGH!!!!!
