OMGosh! I am an avid tennis fan but have been unable to watch religiously the last few years. That dress is hideous!

I have NEVER been a fan of the Williams Sisters due to their crap attitude when they first came on the scene. As a tennis fan, I do try to respect the sport and all, but I just can’t warm up to the Williams Sisters.

Now Venus is the more statuesque of the two as far as body goes (Serena is very pretty but has a more strong, athletic build) but her face is not pretty. She used to wear the better outfits (sorry, Serena has the WORST taste in fashion. It is such a pity…her clothes are way too garrish and do not flatter her form) but this is just YUCK!

Don’t know what Venus is trying to do these last few years in fashion, but she is just not looking as good (or classy!)as she could.

Good point about them getting political if the issue may have been “black”. I agree. What a shame…I would stand for Israel everytime I had the opportunity if I had the fame of the Williams Sisters.

The Williams sisters are still ghetto trash. You can take the girl out of Compton, but you can’t take the Compton out of the girl.

Their father is a worse racist. He also stiffed the tennis instructor who turned the Williams into first rate tennis stars.

And how can we forget Serena’s profanity laced physical threat on that petite Asian woman who was the linesman? She should have been banned from the sport. If she had been white, her butt would have been tossed from the game.

Agree, Phineas. Even though I am not a fan of tennis, I feel that those two are racists and are bringing that sport down to the lowest denominator culturally (kinda like what gangsta rappers are doing to music). But we are supposed to be tolerant of them! What. A. crock.

Phineas, anyone is free to criticize the Williams sisters for their attitude, their rather garish dress, their anti-Israel stances (which are shameful) and whatever else. They’re grown women multimillionaires, so it goes with the territory. The bottom line is they’ve excellent at playing tennis, and have been for years. What I find ironic is critics claiming that you can’t criticize the Williams sisters because of their race, yet these critics always seem to inject race and racial stereotypes into their criticism.

So while we in America engage in our racilized criticism of the Williams sisters and their alledged “ghetto-ism”, players and coaches in former Soviet-Bloc countries are studying them and basing entire training regimens around the movements and power techniques used by the Williams sisters on the court. And then we wonder why no Americans outside of the Williams can even keep up with these young “Svetlanas” on the court.

The top looks like a cut-off, warn out tank top. The middle looks kinda like a cargo net, or the stuff they made bench seating out of on C-130’s when I was in the Air Force back in the 70’s. The bottom portion? I don’t know WTF that is. It looks like it may have been designed as a distraction for people not to notice her butt. Must not have worked eh?

Hey I really don’t care for the Williams’ sisters outfits, however they are one of the best players the Tour has ever seen. Serena is a cut above the rest except for maybe Kim Clijsters and her sister Venus. Would like to have seen the rematch of Clijsters and V. Williams in the Aussie Open, but V. Williams pulled out for an injury. She did play a valiant 2nd round match, toughing out a win while playing injured. My money is on Clijsters(Women’s) and Nadal (Men’s).

As for the Dubai Open, apparently Pe’er is going to play this year because she is listed on the list of players scheduled.

I am an avid tennis player for 30 years. I am so happy that finally after 12 years we may finally be seeing the last of the Williams – at least at tennis tournaments. As far as racism – they between them they have over $50 – $100 millian dollars. I really don’t think they need anyone’s pity. The arrogant sisters will live out their lives in style much grander than any of us can imagine. Good riddance, now let’s get back to tennis.
