Why is Israel Giving Jerusalem Jewish Neighborhood to Palestinian Muslims, Terror Bank?

By Debbie Schlussel

As I’ve always noted, like America, a major reason Israel is losing to Muslims is not due to its Islamic enemies on the outside, but its Israeli, Jewish enemies on the inside.  They do more to hurt Israel than HAMAS or Fatah ever could.  (With America, it’s Americans–stupid ones and liberals (groups which often intersect, but not always)–which are destroying us from within in a way Al-Qaeda could never do.) The Israelis are willingly giving up and giving away important land and neighborhoods to Islamic terrorists.

“Nof Zion (View of Zion): This is Your View; a Private Neighborhood in Jerusalem”

Check out this latest story, in which a Palestinian with U.S. citizenship–whose family owns the HAMAS/Fatah/homicide-bomber-enabling Arab Bank–might take over a Jewish neighborhood development in Jerusalem.  In contrast to the phony story of Palestinian destitution we’re always fed, he is a developer of luxury homes for Palestinian Muslims.  It’s bad news.  And it’s how Israel is losing–not via homicide bombs, but by giving up in the free market.

(Keep in mind, as I’ve noted before that this “Arab neighborhood” of “East Jerusalem” has historically ALWAYS been Jewish–until the UN and the rest of the world forced Jewish homeowners in “East” Jerusalem to “rent” (for free) their homes to Arab Muslims.)

A leading Palestinian businessman is bidding to take over an ill-fated real-estate venture in an Arab neighborhood of East Jerusalem, upsetting Israeli settlers who are trying to put together a counteroffer.

Nof Tzion, Hebrew for Zion View, is a half-built project located in a mostly Arab neighborhood of East Jerusalem, marketed two years ago to wealthy U.S. Jews as a luxury residence with a panoramic vista of Jerusalem’s Old City. Though the 91 units of the first phase of the development have been sold and occupied, Israeli developer Digal Investment & Holdings Ltd. couldn’t complete the project or repay its bondholders, mostly Israeli institutions. Representatives of Digal weren’t available to comment.

Jewish residents of the project are now livid at the idea that the project could be turned over to a Palestinian. The Palestinian businessman, Bashar Masri, said that if his bid is successful, he plans to offer houses in subsequent phases to Palestinians. His bid was discussed at a meeting of bondholders in Tel Aviv on Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. Masri, a U.S. citizen who grew up in the West Bank, is offering to repay 80% of bondholder debt totaling $17 million, according to a person close to the bidder. Digal also owes some $20 million to Bank Leumi Ltd. of Israel for project financing.

Mr. Masri, who leads an investment company building a separate, massive Palestinian development in the West Bank, is the scion of a Nablus family that controls Arab Bank PLC and the Palestinian phone monopoly, Palestine Telecommunications Co. . . .

Nof Tzion was the first Jewish development in East Jerusalem to be financed by a public offering on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.

Bemunah Ltd., an Israeli builder that specializes in housing for Orthodox Jews, said it is preparing its own offer to compete with Mr. Masri’s. The company declared on its website that it is trying to stop the “hostile takeover” of East Jerusalem and called for the “rescue” of Nof Tzion.

“Of course the purpose is to keep the territory Jewish,” said Israel Zeira, chief executive of Bemunah.

Let’s hope. The thing is, in the Muslim world, they don’t take Jewish land by bidding on a distressed property. In contrast, they expel the Jews (after raping and murdering a good number of them), and seize their property at any time before, during or after the expulsion. That’s pretty much how it happened in Iraq, Egypt, Yemen, Iran, and every other country in the Muslim and Arab world.

That’s why it’s so important to keep Jerusalem and the rest of Israel in Jewish hands. It’s not about bigotry. It’s about national security. And about the ultimate civil right: life.

Exit Question: Since the U.S. has, itself, charged that Arab Bank shields the accounts of Islamic terrorists and funds transferred to “martyrs,” why is Israel not barring anyone tied with Arab Bank from owning ANY property in Israel?

Because, as I’ve noted, Israel’s worst enemies are the Jewish Israelis from within. And the country doesn’t have the guts to take a stand against a person like Bashar Masri from owning land in the state. FYI, Masri means “Egyptian” in Arabic. And like a lot of so-called Palestinians, his family is probably of Egyptian heritage–not the faux-Palestinian background he and his family claim.

Here’s a sampling of quotations that speak for themselves:

“The world is made a cruel place not by those who do evil, but by those who stand by and do nothing.”

“We have seen the enemy, and it is us.”

APPEASEMENT. DOESN’T. WORK. It didn’t work with Chamberlain/Hitler/Munich. When you give a barbarian an inch, he’ll take a yard, just like Hitler took the Rhineland, the Sudentenland, and finally Poland after signing the idiotic Munich Agreement with uber-moron Neville Chamberlain.

Harry S. Truman once said (and I agree): “The only thing that is new in the world is the history you do not know.” Because history repeats itself, when you don’t learn from its lessons. ENOUGH. WITH. THE. APPEASEMENT.

Recently, there was a rabbinical ban on selling homes to Arabs in Eretz Yisrael (within the biblical confines of the Land of Israel). Of course, everyone screamed and cried how this is “racist” and “bigoted,” and all the other charges that the arrogant, politically correct elite likes to level at everyone who disagrees. But is it really bigoted to refrain from empowering the enemies of the Jewish people? LEARN. FROM. HISTORY. Bowing down to barbarians doesn’t work. It never has, and it never will.

Who are the “poor and oppressed Palestinian refugees”? They are the direct result of the Arab invasion into Israel during and after 1948. They are people whom the Jordanian, Egyptian, and other governments refuse to take back because they wish to perpetuate the idiotic myth of Israeli “conquest” and “occupation.” Because they want to use this as a wedge against Israel, to continue delegitimizng its sovereignty.

As the great Golda Meir said, once the Arabs/Pals/Muslims lay down their arms, there will be peace in the Middle East. Once the Israelis lay down their arms, the tiny State of Israel – a country the size of New Jersey – will be destroyed.

Almost all Muslim countries (and a whole host of European ones) have expelled their Jewish populations, either before and after the establishment of the State of Israel. Israel, however, has NOT expelled its Muslim population, but instead chooses to treat terrorists and their extremist offspring in hospitals. Because we, as Jews, have to be better than our enemies. Israel IS morally superior because it does things like this (unlike the barbarian Muslim world.) Israel tolerates homosexuals; Iran hangs them, even if they’re children.

Incredible.

to paraphrase the great meir

the mohammadens will only become humanlike

when they learn to love their children

more than they hate the “infidels”

Yes, thank you for the correction. That is very true.

Also I think it’s important to note and emphasize that appeasement ENCOURAGES terrorism; it emboldens and empowers the enemy.

@worry01 Please don’t get into the “real Jew” debate. Anyone whose mother is Jewish or who converted to Judaism is halachically Jewish. Period. End of Story.

Just b/c someone is Jewish, however, does not mean that he is smart, or a good reason. That applies both to self-loathing, anti-Zionist/anti-Israel Jews, and to rabbi pedophiles. One does not cease to be Jewish even if he is a terrorist-coddling moron. It’s just more upsetting, and more surprising, when a Jew coddles a terrorist than when a Muslim does it. After all, WE have the most to lose if Israel is destroyed (G-d forbid). Some people don’t seem to get that fact.

If Israel should be destroyed, I can guarentee that the Muslims will NOT coddle the Jews the same way that the JEWS have coddled the Muslims. Remember how they were expelled from Egypt immediately after the establishment of the State of Israel? Remember how they tried to “play nice” and were rewarded with pogroms, gas chambers, and Nazi ovens? APPEASEMENT. DOESN’T. WORK. When will Americans and Jews get it? When it’s too late?

    instead of saying “infidels”

    i should have said

Notable among those “Jewish enemies on the inside” is one Dov Weisglass, former director of Ariel Sharon’s bureau, who is representing Bashar Masri in his bid.

Raymond in DC on December 30, 2010 at 5:05 pm

This self-destructive behavior is part of a gradual process of abandonment. If Israel no longer is deemed to be important to a Jew, is that person really a Jew any longer? It is not simply a matter of ancestry, but of belief.

Worry01 on December 30, 2010 at 5:06 pm

That’s right up there with Jewish producers and directors making Palestinian terrorist propaganda films – and Jewish lawyers defending Muslim scumbags.

And with Israeli companies signing contracts declaring their country to be “occupied territory” so they can build a city for the Arabs and make lots of money.

With some Jews, common sense and ethics are sadly missing and that’s why they don’t understand they’re feeding their own people to the crocodile’s jaws or at the worst they don’t care.

What a sad and disgusting sight.

As a Jew who lived in Israel and left – I can tell you that the one thing I have learned is Jews who live outside of Israel have a much bigger hatred of the Palestinians then those of us who live (my case lived there). Its not that big of a deal. So some Palestinians live in East Jerusalem. My dad owns a cafe in Jerusalem and another in Tel Aviv. In both he employs Palestinian Muslims, and we have had nothing but good experiences with them. Honest hardworking people. There are definitely some bad apples among them, but the mass majority want the same thing we want – to live life. As a Jew/Israeli with land to my name there – I have no problem selling it to a Muslim, Christian or anyone else. Israel is for everyone. Our government will always be Jewish so there is no threat to losing Israel.
To be fair I am not Orthodox (I think Debbie is) – but I consider myself to be religious. Maybe the Charedi feel different – but me and most of my friends in Israel feel the same way. There just isn’t a threat from these people.
That being said – to all the Americans here – I LOVE YOUR COUNTRY – I have lived here for the past 2 years and its been awesome. I am applying for citizenship and I can tell you there is no place like the USA. Thank G-D for G. Washington and his mates for making this place 🙂
Happy New Year

I guess Hamas represents just a handful of vandals then, no? Or, those rocket and mortar attacks only bother other people, so why should I worry? If you feel so confident about your position, why not set up shop in Gaza City or Hebron? I am sure you will be a welcome member of the community there, especially if you identify yourself as a Jew. If you are actually who you claim to be, I would rather doubt that you would take me up on my suggestion.

    Worry01 on December 30, 2010 at 9:09 pm

Raymond in DC… that name does ring a bell… he was the evil genius behind the plan to expel the Jews from the Gush Katif – and here he’s trucking up with a Muslim Palestinian Arab partner to effect the same end in Jerusalem.

Dov Weisglas is a real piece of work and I’m not saying it as a compliment.

NormanF on December 30, 2010 at 5:46 pm

Debbie:

I can tell you the problem with Israel in a nutshell (Please let me use this on my own blog even though I posted it here first.)

Thesis:

The generation of Israelis that merely wanted to live (i.e. survive) has been replaced by a generation of Israelis who want to be loved.

That’s my basic thesis. I’ll try to write a column on it sometime soon.

There is NO Santa Claus on December 30, 2010 at 6:03 pm

To clarify & show how seriously problematic have been all of Israel’s leaders, the direct result of Israel having the worst political system in the Western World (see “Jewish Statesmanship, Lest Israel Fall,” by Professor Paul Eidelberg:
Please don’t call the murderer, Golda Meir, “the great.” She refused to preempt the certain Muslim attack that happened on Yom Kippur that supposedly “surprised her.” No, she listened to Kissenger who told her not to preempt.
The reason there’s a so-called Palestinian refugee problem is that Israel has refused to exercise its international legal right to repatriate them to their countries, Jordan (originally referred to as Arab Palestine) & Egypt. They lost a war. It’s not their choice, it’s Israel’s choice to repatriate them or not.
@ Avi Bratt When you live in the forest it’s hard to see the forest, it looks like a few trees. But here are some things to consider that contradict your personal experience, an experience not shared by hundreds of thousands of innocent victims of Arab terror on their loved-ones over the years:
The overwhelming majority of so-called Palestinians when polled by those whom they believe to be other Muslims express clearly the following:
* They don’t want an Israel – period.
* They support mass terrorism to reach that goal – period.

@ worry01 According to Judaism, which has a number of biblical verses supporting exclusively the ancient rabbinic explanations of Judaism that were taught them & clearly communicated ’til now, a Jew is one born to a Jewish mother or converted according to Jewish law. Reform Judaism is not Judaism. It uses Judaism as a ploy to enrich its clergy. I grew up involved with the movement & researched it. What I’m saying is true. It was made up in the 1800’s. And, btw, I’m a cousin of Moses Mendelsohn, whose followers started Reform Judaism. And I’m a grandson of his Rabbi & teacher. Reform decided not long ago that if one’s father is Jewish so are they. Well, that’s simply not Judaism. Reform has become a social gathering run by liberalism, teaching & promoting Liberalism. They throw in a couple of prayers at their gatherings so it seems somehow Jewish. I’m not saying that when a Jew prays to God in such a place that God doesn’t hear them & love them & respond in His way. I’m just saying that Jews can do better than Reform Judaism. It’s not the fault of the congregants. It’s the great sin of the clergy calling themselves “Rabbis.”
This short dissertation, background, was mentioned to develop the point that Judaism is ancestry or through serious, labored conversion. But even when a Jew sins, they are still a Jew. They might not be a nice Jew, but they are a Jew. That’s Judaism. God’s love is more than what we call infinite. He loves all of his people. In the bible, the Torah, there quite a number of references to the Jewish people as God’s only, first-born son, His chosen treasure, etc. That isn’t me or any Jew speaking. Christians believe that Jesus makes everyone who says they believe in him a Jew. We disagree. Muslims say they respect both religions & despise both. That’s nuts. We know what they actually believe through the Quran & Sunna, the later verses supersede the earlier, more temperate. They have to either subjugate or destroy all non-Muslims, period. Some don’t want to. Some don’t want to admit it. But that’s Islam, period.
Later all! Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    @FactsRule, Nice post!
Usually I skip over the long (zzzzzzzzzzzz) ones.
I totally agree, but a question and some comments.

If Golda Meir “refused to preempt the certain Muslim attack that happened on Yom Kippur that supposedly “surprised her.” bacause “No, she listened to Kissenger who told her not to preempt” doesn’t that make him the murderer? What else has she done that makes her not “the great”?

Most countries would have sent their refugees packing, so why not Israel…one of their biggest of many mistakes I think.

Why did “Avi Bratt” move to the US if life is so wonderfull where he lived. Most people come here for a second chance. Maybe the forest wasn’t all that pretty.

True, God’s love of his children is more than infinite, but not his tolerance (Noah, Moses, Maccabes) of their sins.

Christians (this one at least) don’t believe that Jesus makes everyone who says they believe in him a Jew. They beleive He makes them as worthy of God’s salvation. There is a difference, I think.

    anyway,
Have a Peacefull and Blessed New Year!

Moses Mendelssohn’s name is customarily spelled with two s’s, as is his descendant’s name, Felix Mendelssohn. Typically, one of his descendants would know the correct spelling of his name.

It is also somewhat risky to reduce complex historical events like the 1973 war to one-sentence denunciations of Meir or Kissinger. Not that they were blameless, by any means.

But there were other issues as well. Sec. of Defense Schlesinger was known for anti-semitic tendencies at the time, and by some accounts, had withheld the delivery of needed spare parts to Israel prior to the Arab attack, and, even during the first few days of the war. What was his role in all of this? Although a pre-emptory attack would make good political and military sense, what impact would the lack of spare parts have made on Israeli decisions? War weariness in the U.S. as a result of the Vietnam intervention was also a significant factor at that time.

What would have been Soviet and international reaction? Was there any ambiguity in the information that the Arabs were planning attack?

Unfortunately, there are very few available contemporaneous, written accounts of the events just prior to, and during the first few days of the war.

I am not defending Kissinger, who certainly has responsibility for the events of the first few days. Nor is Meir free of responsibility. Ideally, Israel should have had adequate spare parts ahead of time, and unequivocal US support before and after the Yom Kippur attack, and Israel should have initiated attack prior to the Arab onslaught on Oct. 6. But it was not only Kissinger and Meir who were involved in the failures of that time. They were complex, and have not yet been fully sorted out, even with the release of some of the classified documents of that time.

Little Al on December 31, 2010 at 7:12 am

Also, to prove my point that even if you’re a Jew, it doesn’t mean you’re a good person – look at Henry Kissinger.

“If they were to start shoving Jews into gas chambers in the Soviet Union, it would not be an American concern. Maybe a humanitarian concern.”

I hope that these awful words will be engraved over Kissinger’s grave.

In addition, some Jews worked as watch guards in Nazi concentration camps, so Jewish does NOT equal good, moral, or ethical.

And like I said, it’s even more disappointing when the moron is a Jew … who should know better, or who will be the very first to suffer (and possibly die) if the barbarians decide to take a yard after they are given an inch.

And, prestigio, I believe that the quotation was more liek, “There will be peace in the Middle East when the Palestinians begin to love their children more than they hate the Jews.” A statement that is perspicacous and undeniable. The Arabs should put peace first. Holocaust denier and mass murderer Mahmoud Abbas did not, and does not. They’re just like the old Nazis; the name of their game is murder. “Slaying the infidels” is a lot more important than anything else.

How are we supposed to make peace with them if they don’t even recognize our right to exist?

Mike on December 31, 2010 at 11:02 am

Debbie, there is sad truth in what you say. The Jewish Left is so filled with guilt and remorse for still being alive that they have to apologize at every opportunity they get. The only way for this to be resolved is for Jews everywhere and especially in Israel is to kick these apologists’ asses to a remote area of Siberia and take back our land. Let’s start fighting fire with fire.

Naomi Romm on December 31, 2010 at 3:06 pm

I am still fairly new to this site – but some of the posters bring up some interesting (if not controversial points). I am not Jewish so maybe I cannot relate to how you feel – but my personal belief as an American Christian is that the Jerusalem which is central to all three major religions should be a international zone governed by the UN (or US) so all can visit in safety. I absolutely believe their should be an Israeli state that is secure. But I also feel that the Palestinians need their own state since they will never want to live under Israeli rule no matter how much Israel concedes to them. I like what some EU and South American countries are doing – recognizing Palestine as an official state. Maybe with some more responsibility the Palestinians will organize a proper government and build a better future for their people.
Again I live thousands of miles from their – but as a medical student I have the fortunate opportunity of being friends of some Palestinians and some Jews – and they seem to get along here.
Also a few questions as I am a little ignorant in this area – why are their a lot of Arab/Palestinian Christians but not many Israeli Christians? Which side do they support? As a Christian it seems there is a break between us here in the US and those in the middle east of the same faith? Can anyone who has knowledge on this issue please explain.
Thanks – Jason

J: You’re incredibly ignorant and most of what you are saying is baloney. In fact, there are far more Israeli Christians than Palestinian ones. You’d know that if you actually read this site, as I wrote about that just a week ago. The Palestinian Christians are persecuted and murdered and have been forced to flee. WAKE. UP. DS
