New Video: Debbie Does Oprah & Obama; Thanks!-Yesterday’s Vid Ranks on YouTube

By Debbie Schlussel
**** UPDATE: Meant to link to this related piece I wrote on Oprah using her show and influence to change laws, an idea which she thankfully neglected. It’s a companion piece to this VLog. ****
Thanks to all of you who watched and commented on yesterday’s debut of Debbie Does Video. Yesterday’s video ranked as the 54th Most-Linked-To News & Politics Video on YouTube, with 820 links and at least 1,244 views at the time I wrote this. Not bad for a debut.
Here’s the next one (also shot last week, so, sorry, no Halloween theme). Still no teleprompter, but workin’ on it, and I like this one better than yesterday’s. Same excessive make-up (shot three videos at one sitting). But will improve over time. Thanks again to “Big T” for producing. Question: As a conservative who’s for smaller government, why do I think Oprah should be regulated? And how does she differ with Rush Limbaugh, besides being a bad influence on America (he’s a good influence)? Watch & Find Out:

As with yesterday, I welcome your comments and (constructive) criticisms.

Actually, listening to your table of contents, I thought that all those articles were themed after the Clintons 😉
Anyway, nice VLOG

Debbie:
Please keep doing the videos. Your views, voice and
text, are sorely needed. Your voice and speaking style are very distinctive. People will remember your words. Thanks for what you do.

Listing the male bashing articles found in November’s issue of “O” magazine and juxtaposing Oprah’s choice of presidential candidate to it all is pure genius, Debbie! Well done! Bravo.

Nice to see you in commentary I think seeing your commentary enables the viewer to understand the talking points that you have been writing about over the past few years. We are a culture of visual stimulation after all. Keep on working on the presentation, the movement of your eyes with the teleprompter, and the comfort level in general will come over time I am sure!!

Debbie,
I love your site and commentary. Nice job on the Vlog. Your voice is a little twangy for my ear but then I’m from Mexifornia so we aren’t used to that midwest sound. Maybe if we could see your hands gesture more, and a little wider shot at times, to see some more of your body it would make it seem less like you are a “talking head”. Else,I like what I see. Also, sometimes when you say certain words your right lip seems to move up kinda like the “Elvis lip” if you know what I mean, and it looks like you’re sneering. Not a good look. There’s some guy on one of those TV roundtable political shows on Fox that does it too and it makes his political points seem evil somehow.
Enough.

I want to see you as a moderator or panelist in the debates next year. How can we make that happen?

Good job on the v blogs. You are doing just fine and you will loosen up as time goes on.
Lose the makeup. You are far too pretty and do not need it.
Kudos on the videos.

Great video.
I agree with ScottyDog–you don’t need a lot of makeup. I’d like to see you with your hair pulled back plus some color on your lips.

You can bet Hoprah sees the magic negro as a man of no substance or experience, and she knows she’ll be able to easily manipulate him if she can get him elected. Hoprah would become President by proxy, which would suit her just fine. This ain’t good, folks.

Great Vid!

Great video, Debbie!
This is an improvement from the first video in wardrobe. The neutral colors are needed to bring attention to your face. The jersey was a distraction.
Yes, you’re right about the need for a teleprompter. You want the video to flow, and keeping eye contact helps.
Another consideration is the background. Even just a flower arrangement would help with texture, but try to get the background to match the context of the headline – while not drawing attention away from your face for too long. Just something to catch the ye for the first few sections of the video where you do your personal introduction.
My boss and I have done videos for work, and this is some stuff we have to consider. Hope this helps and my family and I want more.
Thanks

Content was thought provoking but light, again background contrast would help focus in on your face.

More like Debbie Downer from Saturday night live. You do have that Rachel Dratch-ian look!!!
But I’m just a liberal with a keyboard…

mxmat2 on November 1, 2007 at 2:41 pm

Better than anything on TV.

Debbie, Keep it up with the videos. I enjoyed hearing and seeing your comments. The more you do it, the more you’ll like it. Mike

Agree 100% about Hoprah.
Keep the videos coming!!

Squirrel3D on November 2, 2007 at 8:36 pm

I’ll leave those who know how to do videos to critique you there.
However, the message you had, thank you for speaking for the average American…very well done and it left me feeling….YEAH! What about that?
