I loved that you called Mrs. Bush “Mrs. Pander Claus.”
Now, that we’re coming to the final year of Bush’s 2nd term, I see things actually sliding downward. In other words? The Saudi “veil” is actually drooping.
We’ve been exposed to the side-show. WHere you have the Army’s PR machinery dead set on taking down Foer. At TNR. Because Beauchamp’s article “wasn’t factual.” While Beauchamp, himself, was kept inaccessible to TNR. Whether on purpose or not? Whose to say. The PR leaking has been professional.
But like Irak itself, worth it?
We needed to spend $3-trillion to take off Saddam’s head? Did the Saud’s really think they’d gobble up the Mideast? Arabs can be very slippery. Of all the groups, the richest and the smallest are the Saud’s. And, then their cousins, the kuwait’s.
Bush sunk a fortune into this hole.
At least we know one thing. A burka is not the needle that when added to the haystack, makes the camel fall over.
We’re still watching this one. As if we had really big stakes in irak. Did not.
And, worse. Afghanistan has gone back into the opium business. Dangerous place. And, not one iota closer to giving up Poppy production.
Ya know? Israel went through a similar learning curve. Arik Sharon, in 1982 “went into Lebanon.” And, now? Doesn’t really want to go “into” anything that has lots of arabs.
Heck, even back in 1973; when Arik Sharon finally pushed the eygptians out of the sinai. He was “this close” to driving his tanks into Cairo. Golda Meir told him, though: NO!
Perhaps, that didn’t make sense, then. But now?
Baghdad doesn’t even have the potential of becoming a tourist trap!
At least, though, the makeup of the citizenry, doesn’t give the Saud’s the advantage. (And, yes, when we go home, I expect it will be the mess it deserves to be. As factions fight over the wealth.)
Like the Israelis, it’s gonna be an American lesson. That there are armpits worth staying away from. And, people who don’t belong in the White House! As if either party really delivers good choices.

Unless Tom Tancredo comes to White House, expect more of the same smooth-talking (remember Billy I-did-not-have-sex-with-this-woman Clinton?) deception to which Americans will fall hook-line and sinker.

Take a close look and you will find that Bush Sr. after Saddam only to save his rich wahhabbi ‘friends and family’ in Saudi and Kuwait. With Bandar a part of Bush family, one wouldn’t be surprised if Bush family takes the Shahada.

I don’t doubt the Bush capacity for this. However, at the risk of sounding overly agnostic, do we really know that this hijab was not bought at Photo-shop?
