West Bank town of Jericho, Jordan.
Somehow I remember Jericho as being in Israel and given to the Palestinians for peace and is now a Palestinian territory. When did Jericho become part of Jordan?

The family are exploiting this girl’s huge mistake. There is no genuine concern for this child’s error. If they were truly trying to undo this tragedy, they would not be going about it through a voyeuristic TV show. Debbie, is there some way to find out what the financial arrangements are between the family and the TV show? I’m sure that would be most revealing. It seems clear to me that the family have said to themselves that she has made her choice and we are going let her go; now let us try to make some money out of this opportunity. The fact that Katherine Lester may by now be regretting her decision and wishing she had not been so foolish, or she may not yet have come to that realization, has nothing at all to do with what the family and Dr. Phil are doing.
As we have all been made painfully aware, anyone can become a muslim, but no one can leave islam; it is a one-way in door. Thus all the talking and posturing by Dr. Phil and the family are purely for American consumption and cannot change this poor girls status one wit. She is stuck with her mistake. Rather than following this closely, I think we would do better to ignore the TV show and simply pray for this poor girl.

Stupid is as stupid does. I work with teenagers on a daily basis and it’s sad to see how many of them don’t know anything about the choices they make or the consequences involved. We have a future generation coming along that’s going to fit in well with Sharia law.

Oh, I don’t know. She might be happy as a clam — for now. After all, she is most certainly being treated like a celebrity in Jericho (and yes, Jericho is only a half hour or so from Jerusalem and is in the Pali territories. We pass by it on the way to the Dead Sea.
But give it a few months. Soon they will start treating her like dirt and then her two little brain cells will start rubbing together and figure out that she made a big boo-boo. By then she’ll be preggers and they will NEVER let her out.

I work for a law firm that practices that oxymoron known as “family law”: divorce, child custody, paternity, etc. I also just lost the best Daddy in the whole world to prostate cancer.
My comment is that you should note there is NO word of a Mr. Lester. Now he may be deceased but my guess is that he is not around for some other reason. STRONG FATHERS, STRONG DAUGHTERS. Like a lot of ghetto teens and lonely teen gals in the burbs who “visit” with their dad twice a month (maybe, if they are lucky), Miss Lester was looking for LOVE in all the wrong places — very WRONG if she knew anything about Islam, Sharia, jihad, etc. Now all you happily divorced and outraged moms can pile on but I repeat: STRONG GODLY FATHERING SAVES DAUGHTERS and gives our society strong, virtuous women.

Jericho was never a part of the State of Israel. It was part of Jordan from 1948 – 1967 and then part of the West Bank from 1967 until 1993 when it was ruled by the P.L.O. It is not like say Nazareth which always was and will be part of Israel.
