Sunday Night Terror TV: Actor Who Plays “24” Terrorist “Understands Plight of the P.L.O., Palestinian People”

By Debbie Schlussel
The new season of “24” starts Sunday Night. As I’ve written over and over since news tidbits of the new season leaked out, it appears that the ACLU position will be glorified, that Muslims will be sympathetic and patriotic Americans, and the rest of us–ie., Americans–will be the violent, cretinous thugs the first two parties claim we are (when in fact they are).
Well, two reviews, in today’s USA Today and Wall Street Journal (by my friend, the excellent Dorothy Rabinowitz), say as much. Apparently, there are terrorist attacks by Muslims, so we violent Americans take it into our own hands and attack “innocent” Muslims all over America.

“24” Actor Adoni Maropis “Understands” the “Plight” of the P.L.O.

Add to that, Homeland Security “hardliner” (Hello . . . there are no “hardliners” at DHS–wake up, “24” writers!) Mike Lennox, who “treats the Constitution like a list of suggestions,” urging the crackdown on America’s Muslim population (great idea, but it will never happen). By the way, that quote is from “24”‘s script. But it’s the script of the ACLU, every single day.
Then, there’s Greek actor, Adoni Maropis, who plays Abu Fayed, the terrorist in chief. If only he were a fictional character, like the one he plays. On CNN’s “Larry King Live,” he praised his father, a survivor of a P.L.O. attack on the Athens airport in 1972, for “underst[anding] their plight. And he understood where they [the Palestinian people] were coming from. . . . Wow. . . . That just always just affected me.
Then, he goes on to say that he and his family are from Crete (funny, his bio says he was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; maybe there’s a parallel Pennsylvania in Crete) and that their land has been conquered and taken over by others for years, and that they had to fight to “reconquer our lands.” And “What would you do to fight for your land? . . . Anyway, it’s the Israeli and the Palestinian thing.” Someone needs to give Mr. Maropis a little history lesson. IT WAS NEVER THE PALESTINIANS’ LAND. Until now that the Jews GAVE it to them. They didn’t “RECONQUER” it. They (the Jews/Israelis) gave it to them, FOR THE FIRST TIME. Watch the video of this terrorism apologist on Hot Air. Tip from Lorie Byrd, who has the ultra-patience to watch Larry King (most of us do not).
Maropis says he’s a “true-blooded Cretan” (there are fake-blooded Cretans?). And a “true-blooded” cretin, too.
So far, he’s best known for starring in “Mortal Kombat: Conquest” and a failed Pamela Anderson comedy vehicle. Unfortunately, he also played an Israeli on “NYPD Blue.”
Maropis should stay out of Mid-East politics and stick to what he’s good at: bad acting.

Although I disagree with actors expressing an opinion on the subject of Palestinians since most actors are either misinformed or aren’t informed enough, I find what you stated to be highly debatable:
“IT WAS NEVER THE PALESTINIAN’S LAND. Until now that the Jews GAVE it to them. They didn’t ‘RECONQUER’ it.”
THAT WOULD ONLY BE DEBATABLE IF YOU CONSIDER EGYPT (WHICH INCLUDED GAZA BEFORE THE ISRAELIS HAD IT) AND JORDAN (WHICH INCLUDED THE “WEST BANK”–WHY DO YOU THINK IT’S CALLED THAT?–BEFORE THE ISRAELIS HAD IT) TO BE “PALESTINE.” AND IF THEY ARE, THEN WHY DO THE PALESTINIANS NEED A THIRD COUNTRY, WHEN THEY ALREADY HAVE TWO? LEARN SOME HISTORY BEFORE YOU MAKE FALLACIOUS CLAIMS LIKE THAT.

There’s nothing fallacious about my claim that what you’ve posted about Palestine is highly debatable since many objective experts on this subject would say the same thing. But it is true I haven’t studied in depth the history of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict so I’m going to learn some history. Bye for now.

Why is the opinion of a performing Cretin like Adoni Maropis of any value? I’m sick of hearing Leftist drivel from actors and singers. The so-called Palestinians have been victimized by their Arab Muslime brothers. Jews were used as scapegoats by the German Nazis for all the problems suffered by the German people. The Neo-Nazi Muslimes are doing the same thing today. Hitler is alive and well and living in the Muslim Nation.

Yeah, while i DO “f” with you at most steps along the way, let’s BE REAL here—while ther MAY be some “innocent” Muslims in this coutry, i can’t name more than TEN…and i KNOW quite a few.
The Nation of Islam probably ARE the only “innocent” Muslims simply because they are somethang out of the James Brown song…they all are talkin’ loud and SAYING nothing…but i’ve YET to meet a Middle eastern “Muslim” who wasn’t jihading LONG BEFORE Osama and his crew marked MY city for death a few September Tuesdays ago….
While i KNEW Iraq was a bogus war from jumpsteet…we’re THERE, and we can’t go anywhere…so LET’S CUT THE CRAP and talk to China and russia—it’s ALL about the oil—get the BIG 3 to kick in a million troops EACH and Iran & Iraq won’t be a “problem” no more as WE use them Syrians to run the wells since Iraqis and Iranians WILL be like the dodo birds and carrier pigeons…EXtiinct!!!
But that’s just MY modest proposal for the FINAL solution

I watched the first season (if I remember well) of “24” then when they “apologized” to the muslims before the show started (the 2nd season, I think) I switched to the “music channel” to calm down. And since then, “24” stopped existing for me.
And as I said previously, I have little respect for Hollywood, when the actors start speaking outside the script, they spew garbage.

Debbie,
You were right about “Sleeper Cell”. On your recommendation, I ordered Showtime for the month that it was on. Way better than 24 (and I previously liked 24 a LOT).

Here’s an article posted on FrontPagemag.com. Maybe it will explain or open a few eyes. Believe what you want. That’s the American way I guess.

Rich B,
The problem with the history of the Palestinian/Israeli conflict, is it sort of depends on who’s writing the history. For instance, here’s the UN’s history on the subject:
http://www.un.org/depts/dpa/ngo/history.html
” After looking at various alternatives, the UN proposed the partitioning of Palestine into two independent States, one Palestinian Arab and the other Jewish, with Jerusalem internationalized (Resolution 181 (II) of 1947).”
Whereas FrontPage states:
“Let us also remember that prior to the founding of the state of Israel in 1948, the name “Palestinian” referred to the Jews of Palestine.”
Now I wasn’t around in 1948 and I’m not a historian on the matter so FrontPage maybe correct and I misunderstood the UN’s paragraph, but you do see the confusion.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m pro-Israel and of course condemn the terrorist actions by suicide bombers and by Hezbollah, but that doesn’t mean we can’t show some empathy for the Palestinian people as a whole.
