No, Hilary Swank is not a hypocrite because
a) she’s just an actress in a movie,
b) the message of the movie (i.e.,Finish high school) is good!!!

She’s the best actress to come up the river in a decade. It’s just too bad that now she is famous she, like all the other talented morons (Manes, Baldwin, Streissand and so on), feel they have the right to preach morality to the rest of us. I have no problem with a high school dropout selling education, she could easily do it right. But these people who would take three or four months getting ready to “play a part, then think they can get into a serious political discussion without spending more than a few days (if that) studying the problem. “They” are all like that, and none of them are believed any more by anyone.

Sorry Debbie,
I disagree with you on this one.
Will Smith can star in the Art of Happyness and doesn’t have to be homeless.
Robin Williams can do a voice in Happy Feet and doesn’t need experience being a penguin.
Hillary Swank can star as a teacher but doesn’t have to be a high school graduate.
Now – if she calls other people stupid or uneducated – then we have a hypocrite. As far as her Stay In School Message – I can’t find anything wrong with that.
What should she say, “Hey kids, I never finished high school but make millions each year. Remember – stay in school.”
That’s my opinion.
Otherwise, I think you’re right on target most of the time.

You don’t see the difference between a poor kid in Detroit dropping out of high school and a child-actor dropping out of high school? Come on now…
What exactly do you want her to say, anyway? “Drop out of high school! Look how well it worked for me!” Would that make you happier?
Even if it was a stupid choice for her to drop out (that seems pretty doubtful), must she let that bad decision dictate her thinking for the rest of her life?
You sound like those Democrats who argue that we shouldn’t have gone into Iraq because we propped up Saddam in the 80’s: Wouldn’t that make us all the more responsible for going in and deposing him?

Notice how all these movies have a pretty white woman saving black children.
I would think the NAALCP would be throwing a fit!
Where are the black parents demanding better schools in their liberal inner cities?
Only skinny white women care about black children?
And how does it go over the heads of everyone that all inner city schools (run by liberals) are such cess pools adn have such dysfunctional students and lives?

I think this movie is based off a real story back in the 1990’s so I wouldn’t knock the movie just because of Swank’s background.
