Sad Quote of the Day: Most Popular Halloween Costume Is . . .

By Debbie Schlussel

How do you measure the level of decline and dumbing down in America?  Well, Halloween costumes might be a good way.  Sadly, the most popular Halloween costumes in the U.S. this year are those resembling the bimbos and himbos on MTV’s reality show, “Jersey Shore.”  And MTV produced the costumes, raking in the cash on these dumb looking outfits.  The Snooki costume looks like a prostitute outfit . . . kinda like every outfit the moron-ette wears.

The level of trashiness is clear in this quote from an MTV exec to the Wall Street Journal:

In an effort to make the Jersey Shore costumes as realistic as possible, Viacom Inc. executives scrutinized the length of Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi’s skirt—very short—and the height of her poof wig—very high—to ensure the utmost accuracy. The Snooki costume includes a metallic leopard-print dress that is barely longer than a shirt.

“When you look at what Snooki wears on the show, sometimes there are some wardrobe malfunctions because of how short she likes her dresses,” says Sherice Torres, senior vice president for MTV Networks Global Home Entertainment and Adult Brand Licensing. “We needed the costume to be representative.”

Hi, my name is Sherice Torres, and my job is making sure the Snooki Halloween costume is slutty enough.

The headline of the Wall Street Journal story on the popularity of the Jersey Shore costumes has it right:

Ghosts Aren’t Nearly as Frightening as These Characters

Indeed.

By the way, the second most popular costume in America, behind the Jersey Shore gang, ain’t any great shakes either.  It’s “Lady Gaga.”

Bonus Quote:

“I got, like, a very distinct look,” says Paul “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio about the authenticity of the official Pauly D lacquered and sprayed hairpiece.

Yeah, keep telling yourself that, Pauly.

“Snooki”? Schmucki is more like it . . .

ConcernedPatriot on October 28, 2010 at 6:26 pm

Your daughters going out as sluts?

Better dress them up as ghosts. They’d be a lot less scary on Halloween!

NormanF on October 28, 2010 at 6:26 pm

There needs to be a minimum weight and maximum height limit for wearing this costume, thus limiting the demographics for purchasing it. The models used in the photos are way to tall and slim to fit the “Snooki” profile.

(Jersey Shore – another tv “show” that is at the same intellectual par as “The View”. Thankfully, I don’t have the time nor the patience to watch either.)

PatsPFS on October 28, 2010 at 8:21 pm

    Minimum weight. ROFLMAO!!1!

Even the kids costumes are overly sleazy.

cirrus1701 on October 28, 2010 at 8:31 pm

The so-called Snooki customes should be for adult women only, not for little girls, simple as that. If I was married and had children and I had a daughter, I wouldn’t let her wear that Snooki custome, I’ll let my wife wear that custome.

PS, I don’t watch “Jersey Shore”, but I believe that Snooki girl is very attractive looking, like all women in this world.

“A nation is identified by it’s borders, language & culture!”

Sean R. on October 28, 2010 at 8:42 pm

You’ll “let” your wife wear it? I know what you mean, but the wording’s a little weird, as is the idea that it’s okay for adult women to dress like sluts.Oughtta keep with your original theme that it’s slutty for anybody and just stop there.

Imagine if men wore clothes with their peens and butts sticking out. Oh, yeah, they do — it’s called the Fulsom Street Fair. Ban those Happy Meals, but can’t stop the Fair!

Is the “snooki” costume for hobbits? She looks like and walks like a hairless hobbit. Now we know why Sam and Frodo exchanged such long love stares, not enough ale to get them to hook up with snooki, the Shire whore.

This is silly. Of course no girl of trick or treating age is going to fit into that “Snooki” costume for obvious reasons. As for adults wearing it, to tell you the truth, there are sections of Hollywood Boulevard (near the eastern end) where that wouldn’t even be considered a “costume” at all. Just regular “evening” wear.

Yet more evidence that a lot of PARENTS need their asses kicked. If I see a Snookie begging for candy I will have condoms on hand and throw them on my lawn for them to retrieve. A world over populated with Snookies is not an option. I never even waatch the damn show.lol

Yet more evidence that a lot of PARENTS need their asses kicked.

True. If enough parents said “Show me a bride, Gypsy or ballerina costume or I will MAKE my daughter’s halloween costume MYSELF,” there would be plenty of bride, Gypsy and ballerina costumes in the stores. (The really devastating revelation will be if someone replies to this by saying “When they put bride, Gypsy and ballerina costumes in the stores, nobody buys them.”)

I never even waatch the damn show.lol

    Neither do I.

It’s Halloween. Dressing up as Snooki is plenty scary, no?

Kar on October 29, 2010 at 12:44 am

The costumes you show at the beginning of the article are HOT. My only doubt would be in letting pre teen or younger wear them. For older teenagers and young women, for halloween, there shouldn’t be a problem. It’s not like they are asking that this be allowed for school or college dress code or for business attire. C’mon! Lighten up! People have to have fun sometimes.
Hey, Debbie! why don’t you treat us to the sight of you in a skimpy, sexy little halloween number. That would be a treat!

RT on October 29, 2010 at 1:34 am

How ’bout you send us a pic of you in a costume with your privates hanging out? Yeah, thought so. Okay for females, but males would lose respect. Calling this “hot” creates the hyper-sexualized culture that filters down to younger girls AND that makes college dudes think it’s funny to use the “nuts or sluts” line on conservative women candidates. The pornification of America.

Actually, a real funny Halloween costume would be a burka.

Jersey Shore or Jersey Whore? Does the Lady Gaga costume come with meat?

Off topic:

There is sad news this morning. Fellow blogger RivkaA from Israel, died of cancer this morning.

Baruch Dayan HaEmet.

Her memory will be for a blessing – Zichrona Livracha. Such is the human fate in this world, in which we are compelled to obey G-d.

May He show mercy to us and to those, like our dearly departed sister, friend and fellow blogger who suffered greatly for His Name. We will not forget His kindness and ask of Him compassion not only in death but also in life.

May He Who Makes Peace In His High Heavens, Make Peace For Us And For All Israel.

Amen.

Snooki is too short. Isn’t she about 5′ 0″?

T: I think she’s 4’9″. DS

We’re going to a party tonight as Chilean miners. Probably just as bad taste but we’ll be covered from the hard hats and headlights to gloves, coveralls, workboots and safety glasses. Oh, we’re also picking up small hammer picks. Past a certain age, one really needs to cover up.

Mazzuchelli on October 29, 2010 at 11:54 am

Dear Leader is gonna be mad that he’s not the favorite costume. That will be correct by next year with a new regulation from the EPA.

sandy on October 29, 2010 at 2:42 pm

What’s the big deal? Have you been near a middle or high school at dismissal? Sluts have been dressing this way in school for years!

JeffT on October 29, 2010 at 4:22 pm

I live in central NJ with Staten Island, NY with being a stone’s throw from here.
Actually, I stopped going to NJ malls. If I have to shop anywhere, I go during off hours so I don’t have to look at these peacocks parading around.
The girls (and guys) look and sound exactly like this 5 foot garden gnome,Snooky and The Situation.
It is absolutely appalling and depressing. In addition to the Jersey Shore, there is Jerseylicious and let’s not forget those over -ripe, emotionally undeveloped narcissists, the Bravo Housewives.
Oh my God, now I’m really depressed 🙁
That people tune in and watch this garbage and want to emulate the lowest common denominator of our society, I just don’t get.
I believe these shows are symptoms of the greater “rot” that is destroying this country.

Cheryl S. on October 29, 2010 at 7:17 pm

For those of you who think this is fun…let me add my two cents in:

As a 28 year old looking for a woman, this is the last thing I need to see a woman look like. Trashy. I don’t care if it’s halloween or not. I don’t want my girlfriend/wife to look anything like that.

And if you’re a father, or an uncle like me, then you know damn well seeing your female cousin or niece or little sister in such attire is simply telling any pedophile to “come rape me”.

There are much better, more cute and innocent things for a female to dress up as for halloween. And there’s a much better way for a female to look pretty without needing to look like trash.

Now if you damn idiots are finished telling us your fantasies, you’ll get back to reality, act like you got some sense, and realize that women should be treated like human beings and not seen as “easy” according to the mainstream perverted media.

(really sad that a young dude had to say all this)

Squirrel, I love you for putting the sex-slobbering junior high boys in their place.

In the interest of realism, does the costume come with VD…?

Tom on October 30, 2010 at 11:20 am

As for the Gaga costume — yeh, it comes with meat, but you have to supply your own talent.
