18 Years Ago Today: Remembering the Victims of Pan Am Flight 103

By Debbie Schlussel
Eighteen years ago, today–one December 21, 1988–Pan Am Flight 103 was blown up by Islamic terrorists over Lockerbie, Scotland.
All 259 passengers and crew aboard–mostly Americans–and 11 people on the ground were murdered.
The plot was begun by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC) and finished by Libya’s Muammar “Daffy” Qaddafi.
Today, the victims’ silence has been bought off by a forced settlement of $10 million per family. Libya bought its way off the State Department terrorist list. And “former” PFLP (the PFLP-GC was a splinter group of PFLP) personnel like Islamic activist, Imad Hamad, are now U.S. citizens and favored cronies of the likes of U.S. Attorney (and Bush Federal Court of Appeals nominee) Stephen Murphy III a/k/a “Abu Porno” and Brian Moskowitz a/k/a Abu Moskowitz, Michigan/Ohio Special Agent in Charge of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Thank you for reminding us of that very tragic and fateful day, Debbie. I remember being in my sophmore year in college when this happened and felt sick to my stomach when the list of passengers included a lot of American college foreign exchange students coming back from their semester abroad, only to meet their demise at the hands of these cowardly, chicken shit jihadi, terrorist scum-bags.

CREW RESOURCE Mismanagement air disasters are bad enoughÖin my experienceÖfamilies are still devastated, even 36 years later.
The predominant theme, replayed over and over again in the minds of family members isÖ IF ONLY this ìsmall actionî hadnít occurredÖour loved ones would still be here with us, and life would be as it was!
But people do make mistakes, and air disasters happenÖbut usually after gallant attempts by the flight crew to reverse the “wrongî. So there can be forgiveness from the grieving families.
With ISLAMIC ACTS of TERRORISM, like PAN AM Flight 103, I think the constant theme must be WHY.
WHY would anyone do thisÖespecially to my Sue, or Bob, or my Mom etc?
Because MUSLIMS think theyíre victims.
“TERRORISTS are thugsÖnot victims.” Pierre Elliot Trudeau, October Crisis
QUEBEC FLQ terrorists tried that BS ploy here in Canada in 1970 as they bombed and murdered crying all the while, “that Quebecois are the White NÖ of North America.”
Our VERY LIBERAL PM, Pierre Elliot Trudeau, a former civil rights lawyer was not fooled by that line. He invoked the War Measures Act and soon the Canadian Army was everywhere in Montreal.
Prime Minister Trudeau made the defining point then, still applicable today, that terrorists (read ISLAMIC TERRORISTS right now) are fighting against “who we areÖnot what we do”.
So, of course, THE WHY will never make any sense to surviving family membersñ
So there can never be ANY CONSOLATION.

I also remember when this occurred. Was on break from college. A friend of my friend’s parents was on that flight.
