Are Liberal Critics of “Obama is Muslim” Poll Anti-Semites, Anti-Christian? Read What Else Was in Poll

By Debbie Schlussel

While much has been made of a TIME Magazine poll (and a similar Pew poll) which showed that one in four Americans believe Barack Obama is a Muslim–and, as I noted, they are technically correct, under Islamic law–the coverage and liberal media ridicule of the poll respondents and their answers has largely skipped another part of the poll.

obamasmiling.jpgislamiccrescent.jpg

The TIME poll shows that, despite growing anti-Semitism in America (Jews, NOT Muslims, are the victims of most religion-based hate crimes), more than three in four Americans respect Jews and the Jewish religion, followed closely behind by respect for Christians–Protestants and Catholics. Hmmm . . . why are liberals so upset by these results? Why are they so anti-Semitic and anti-Christian? If they can call the respondents who believe Obama is Muslim, “bigots,” I can do the same for these liberals, because of these poll results:

While the poll revealed that prejudice toward Muslims is widespread, respect for other religious traditions remains sturdy. Respondents held the Jewish faith in the highest regard, with 75% professing to hold a favorable impression — just slightly higher than attitudes toward Protestants and Catholics. Fifty-seven percent say they have a favorable view of the Mormon faith, compared with 44% for Muslims.

So, in other words, 44% of Americans are morons. Depressing that after everything that’s happened to America in the last decade, they still don’t get it.

The poll, conducted by Abt SRBI, surveyed 1,002 adults — 89% of whom identified themselves as likely voters — on Aug. 16-17.

Given this, it’s very fair to say that those who ridicule the poll and are upset by the results are probably upset at the high respect for Jews and Christians in America. And we know that’s generally the case: liberals who hate organized religion in America have a strange love for the most oppressive, dangerous organized religion there is: Islam.

And that’s reflected in this little aside in the article:

Despite (or perhaps because of) this widespread antipathy, 62% of respondents say they don’t personally know a Muslim American.

Um, I’m one of the 38% who personally knows an American Muslim (they are Muslim first, and the “American” part is just an adjective). I personally know plenty of them all too well.  And it has no bearing on my view. 100% of Americans met Muslims and “Muslim Americans” on 9/11, on Christmas last year (Undiebomber), and at Times Square. And on plenty of other occasions.

Oh, and by the way, you don’t have to personally know what it’s like to commit suicide in order to know you don’t like it.

Some people have a vocabulary to say things in a way you can understand them…

This came from the Czeck Republic. Someone out there has it figured out. We have a lot of work to do…

“The danger to America is not Barak Obama but the citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the common sence and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.”

“The problem is far more serious than Mr. Obama who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince.”

“The Republic can survive Barak Obama who is after all merely a fool, it is less likely to survive the multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

Little by little Americans are seeing through the Hollywood-Left Wing-Progressive-Democrat-RINO cloud created to smoke this Muslim into office and blinded the American people from seeing this idiots (Obama’s) lack of expertise, weakness, cowardice and treasonous actions against our great country. “Fool me once…” well, you all know the rest. Obama’s apologists, from Bill O’Reilly (he can’t do enough puff pieces on the Obowma’s) to Bozo, er, I mean, Bono, are now hiding or running for the hills or don’t want to be near or be seen with this clown….How the times change. I love it.

Like some of us in America, parts of the world truly saw this Obowma for what he was. Now, Americans, through Obama’s own actions, are seeing him for who he really is: An incompetent traitor and a “Manchurian Candidate”. No polls, puff pieces, softball interviews or any type of name calling will keep Americans from realizing the truth about this guy. Time’s up. The jig is up…It’s time to come clean. Democrats, radical liberals and all their supporters can try to gloss over it, sweet talk it and poo-poo it all they want…It ain’t gonna work. America is getting over the hangover and it ain’t tasting good.

Finally, I say: Suck it libs. You and all of your pansies, victims, losers in your cesspool society, organizations and universities you have brained washed. F*ck U…!! You have all screwed up my country and will pay for it.

Rounds coming down range…Stand by –

As I said in the previous thread, the Left is war with Western religion – Judaism and its offspring Christianity. They are the post-modern techno-pagans of the 21st Century. They love Islam because it shares their hatred of Judaism and Christianity. If you like Jews and Christians a lot, you believe in G-d and consequently, you’re very likely not a leftist.

That brings me to an important point Debbie didn’t bring up but should have: the greatest predictor of people’s values and voting habits are how much they take their Judaism and Christian faith very seriously. Those who do so are more likely to vote GOP than their secular peers.

That is why there isn’t going to be end to the culture wars in this country in our lifetime.

NormanF-while I agree mostly with your post, I have to say that I hold neither Judaism or Christianity seriously [no religion actually but not an atheist, I believe but as a supplement, not an end to itself]–but am a hard line conservative. “Conservative” ideas simply make more sense and logic to an above average intelligence human and they can arrive there without religious prodding.

Sean, there are exceptions of course to every rule… and there are religious people who can be found on the other side – but they are outliers. This is true of multi-regression modal analysis we used to do in social science classes… most of the dots fall right around the middle but we would expect and indeed there are – some that don’t accord with what is observed. Those are outliers and they are treated as statistically insignificant.

Liberals have this romanticism of siding with the so-called ‘oppressed and victims’ of society. The see the majority in society as oppressors and victimizer. This childlike response allows them to suspend any rationality about Islam. Liberals sympathize with Muslims because of their hate of Christians and Jews. Just on the mosque issue, liberals want tolerance of Christians and everyone else. So when the Westboro Church is protesting gays, then they try and have them arrested them for hate crimes. Where is the liberal tolerance?

Didn’t he also write something in his book about standing with the Muslim’s should the ‘winds shift’??

You can’t compare Judaism and Christianity. The first encourages free thought, the latter encourages people to behave as sheep.

Re: Your comment “Um, I’m one of the 38% who personally knows an American Muslim (they are Muslim first, and the “American” part is just an adjective)”, please keep in mind that many (of us) Jews call ourselves American (or any other nationality) Jews, Jews being the noun and the nationality being the adjective. So I can’t fault them for that.

However, whereas Judaism stresses respect for the legitimate government of the country in which we live, Islam calls for its destruction if it’s not a Muslim government (and even then there are exceptions).
