You Betcha Moronism: Sarah Palin + Kate + 8

By Debbie Schlussel

Expect 8 years of Barack Obama.  It’s hard to “refudiate” that, when the GOP serves up morons like Sarah Palin as its top favored choice for the nomination in 2010, according to most polls–meaning the GOP is filled with moronistas as moronic as she is.

Mama Grizzly DumbAssity: Two People We Don’t Need in American Politics

I can’t wait to hear the excuses of the far-too-many blind followers of Palinmessiah for her little planned get together with the other famous tabloid family, the Gosselin’s of TLC, “Jon & Kate Plus Eight” fame (now just “Kate Plus Eight”).  Yup, this is exactly what you want in your “conservative” Presidential timber–a selfish fool who quits barely halfway into her first term as governor to collect millions of dollars . . . and hang out with Kate Gosselin.  Barack Obama is laughing (for you Palinmoronistas, that’s laughin’) up a storm.

I’m sure that Sarah Palin will come out and “refudiate” now that she’s even more of a laughing stock, and claim the story isn’t true.  But I’ll bet that it is . . . or was going to be.

TLC . . . the Silver Spring-based cable network went into full “No Comment” mode yesterday in response to a media pile-on over a report Kate Gosselin and Sarah Palin were going to meet up in one spectacular “Kate Plus 8” TV special being shot for the cable network.

It all started Wednesday when INFDaily.com, which bills itself as a “celebrity gossip, news and paparazzi photos” Web site, snapped some photos of Kate and her brood at the Alaska zoo in Anchorage, which it posted on its site Thursday morning.

Other photos of Kate and kids at the a store in Anchorage also sprang up on the web, with captions noting Anchorage is spitting distance — okay, 45 minutes — from Wasilla, where Palin lives.

Thursday afternoon, celebrity suck-up mag In Touch Weekly posted a story on its Web site that Gosselin had packed her kids up and taken them to Alaska for a little made-for-TV camping, and a meet-up with Sarah Palin.

Remember, this is the same woman who praised Kid Rock in her book and said he has “common sense ideas.” If she’ll put her kids on the phone with that supporter of drug abuse, drug-dealing, underage sex, and prostitution, why wouldn’t she meet with Kate Gosselin, who is Jerry Falwell in comparison?

For those who don’t know, “In Touch Weekly” is one of those magazines that Sarah Palin was embarrassed to tell Katie Couric is on her “reading” list. If she actually read real news sources, she wouldn’t need you to donate gazillions of dollars to SarahPAC to finance foreign policy advisors to tell her what Ms. Vacant Thang missed for the last 46 years.  And don’t believe for a second Palin wasn’t in on this little idea-floating about meeting with Kate.  Just like you shouldn’t believe for a second she didn’t wholly know about and wasn’t completely in on the several-hundred-thousand dollar deal her daughter, Bristol Palin, got to tell US Magazine, last week, of her engagement to Levi Johnston.

The biggest deals Palin made in the past two years–other than her book deal–are interviews glamorizing her daughter’s teen single motherhood on the cover of People and 8-Page spread therein and doing the same with her daughter on the cover of Life & Style.  Now, the US Mag engagement announcement and the Kate Plus 8 thing, if it’s true.  And it probably was going to be .  .  . until the latest, deserved, snickering over it.

Yup, a regular Ronald Reagan, that woman.  Uh-huh.  You keep telling (er, in Palin-speak, tellin’) yourself that. Hopefully, it will comfort you, when Barack Obama takes his second oath of office in January 2013.

You Betcha.

OK, so in the beginning I was a diehard Palin fan but over time she’s proven herself as selfish, money-oriented and unpatriotic as any other politician. Agreed. Now, in my opinion, there are only 2 other GOP ‘front men’ that are worth looking at. I’m curious what your take is on Mike Huckabee and Bobby Jindal. I’m from Louisiana and I’ve seen what appears to be progress and sincere dedication to moral justice and the foundations of the real America. Although, I have to admit I didn’t like him in the beginning simply for his “racial heritage”. After 9/11 its hard to know who to trust. He seems to have risen to dispell most predjudices but that could just be clever slight of hand. I’m anxious to hear your thoughts. 🙂

M: I like Bobby Jindal and would happily support him. Hucksterbee is a fraud who pardons murderers to kill again. DS

Debbie, do you know who could be the candidate to replace this tramp-alin gymnast and political neophyte?

Lex on July 26, 2010 at 11:15 am

I wonder if Kate will be invited to the Bristol/Levi nuptials, Heck, I wonder if Palinmessiah will be there. Do you get the feeling the whole engagement/breakup/Levitrashtalkin’/reconciliation thing was political? You know, “break up with the bum until after Mamagrizzly wins the election or not, give it a bit of time while Levi shops out his hunkiness and starts making some real dough then you can get back together and be a family.” Nah! couldn’t be. Could it? Not with Levi getting a “real job” acting in a sexy rock video to be out soon.

You are ignoring the best reason to vote for Palin. I will not explicitly mention it here, but to get the answer you need to rent the movie “A few Good Men” and watch the breakfast seen towards the beginning of the movie at Gitmo with Jack Nicholson. Rent the movie because they took the line out when the movie went to cable.

Palin makes me think of a small boat, you know, a dingy.

Truth on July 26, 2010 at 12:22 pm

I find it amazing when you talk to “Palin people” they never want to about credentials or experience. It’s about the latest soundbite she said or the latest tweet. No elaborate interviews on other networks other than FOX. She plays the Conservative victim. Oh woe is me. She could win the primary because enough of her followers would come out and the rest of the field would split their votes. Since the GOP primaries are winner take all it would help her campaign. True libertarian votes would split if Ron Paul runs again.

My choice for president would be Jindal or Liz Cheney.

Debbie watch out the mama grizzlies and pink elephants are coming. LOL!

I just hope that the Duggar family don’t invite Sarah Palin to their countryhouse in Arkansas, the day when the Duggar’s invite Sarah Palin to their house, that’ll be the day when I stop watching 19 Kids and Counting/Duggar family show! When Ms. Palin first came onto the scene two years ago, I thought that she was a decent, god-fearing conservative woman, but as time went along I started to see her fake it on a daily basis, and becoming more and more of a Republican Party hack, etc., I know that I can’t support Sarah Palin because I saw who she is. And I bet that the other conservative websites won’t post an article like this about Ms. Palin, because their shills for her and the GOP, they are NO different then the liberal media who are shills, & hacks for the Democrat Party!

“Refudiate” is indeed silly, but at least it’s understandable. If you’re trying to say “refute” and “repudiate” at the same time, the natural result is what slipped out. I’m actually surprised you didn’t focus on Obama’s “corpse-men” (as opposed to corpsmen) comment, which he said three times.

Phil on July 26, 2010 at 1:27 pm

Another thing, I think I heard a rumor last week that the Obama administration is going to dump Tom Vilsack from their cabinet, if that happens, I hope that Vilsack runs against Obama in the DNC primaries in 2012 and beat Obama. Yes Vilsack is a Liberal-Democrat, but he’s a “centrist” left winger, he’s NOT a far-left wing extremist communist whackjob, Vilsack used to be a farmer in Iowa, so he used to work for himself. If Tom Vilsack runs against Sarah Palin for the presidency two years from, Vilsack will defeat Palin, and I think that the Republicans are going to run people like McCain, Palin, Romney, & Gingrich for 2012, don’t the gullible GOP know that their committing Harry Carey if they dare run any of those folks that I mentioned?

I may be wrong but isn’t the election for POTUS in 2012?

ceannrua on July 26, 2010 at 1:49 pm

You are not wrong in saying that the presidential election is in November of 2012, but the President takes the office around Jan. 20 of the following year – i.e., 2013.
(I say “around” b/c if the 20th falls on the Sabbath, it is pushed forward to the next work/weekday.)

Mike on September 8, 2010 at 9:59 pm

Palin was a question mark for me before resigning. After that, it was clear what a pure opportunist she is. I’m surprised Rush Limbaugh defends her, though I know the overriding theme is about not eating your own. Still, he’s too wise not to see through this act. I’m also from Louisiana. Jindal is the real deal. He’s a man of great intellect and passion with conservative beliefs.

Gregg on July 26, 2010 at 2:04 pm

I am surprised that Sarah Palin has gotten so much attention. She is already past her prime even in conservative circles now. It should be hard to get too excited about the political equivalent of a two year old laptop, but some people still mistake the clearance rack for something new and cutting edge. Sarah Palin is a dented can now, and many of the dents were self-inflicted.

Worry01 on July 26, 2010 at 2:06 pm

Michelle Fraudkin is pushing a poll that shows Palin as the front runner in a recent poll. It is obvious the conservative establishment has their ticket punched for her. if she wins the nomination, I will vote Libertarian or Constitution Party. In fact I will organize to get Conservative minor parties on the ballot so our voices will be heard. She is the voice of the Conservative Establishment of talking heads who want you to buy their next book.

I kept wondering why the media still talks about palin. Then it hit me, they want her to run against obama. Like you said debbie, that will get obama another four years. The republican base still loves her and will vote for her no matter what. In a general election against obama she will get slaughtered worse than mccain. Her favorabilities are very low with independants and democrats. Most people who aren’t partisan shills think she’s an idiot and are embarrased by her. My choice for president is ron paul. He is a strict constitutionalist and an advocate of sound money. I also agree with him that we need to bring the troops home and defend our own borders. Paul would be more respected if the right wing media gave him a fair shake, fox news and right wing websites seem to have more respect for hard core left wingers. All the republicans even jindahl who are talked about as running for president would all be big government.

tyler on July 26, 2010 at 3:16 pm

Sean R writes, “Vilsack used to be a farmer in Iowa, so he used to work for himself.” That makes Vilsack the odd man out in Obama’s administration. By one accounting, only some 8% of those at the top have ever created or run a business. Almost all are lawyers, worked for NGOs or advocacy groups, or come from academia. A few got rich working for someone else (e.g. the Wall Street types). In other words, almost none of them were ever accountable for their actions or mistakes. Maybe that’s why Obama is so comfortable with them.

Raymond in DC on July 26, 2010 at 3:59 pm

JINDAL is definitely the better person for the job. His only flaw, that I can see, is his stand on emergency contraception. Unfortunately, Bobby has said he won’t run in 2012…

So Republicans must face the bitter truth, that in order for things to be wee wee’d up a bit, against Obama and the Dems in the presidential race of 2012, they MUST go with Palin—

The Canadien on July 26, 2010 at 4:00 pm

2012 is a given a freebie, If the republicans can find the right person to run. it looks like a slamdunk ,Almost….but, Everybody needs to rally around a Legitimate candidate, and give no support to the fringe runners.it only takes away from the top guy.

2012 on July 26, 2010 at 5:21 pm

No doubt about it; Jindal is extremely intelligent and capable, and would be a vast improvement over Obama, and better than Palin although his lack of a clear position against illegal immigration makes me uncomfortable.

A lot can happen in 2 years though; if conditions get bad enough, even Palin might be able to beat Obama, e.g. what if there is 25% unemployment?

But the other uncertainty stems from the 2010 elections. We know that new Republicans will win office and national prominence, and given the volatile political atmosphere in this country, it is not out of the question that one of them may leap over all the present contenders and take the nominations. Things like that are happening locally this year, and we never know.

Little Al on July 26, 2010 at 5:54 pm

You guys are ganging up on her too much. I think many of you are just jealous. She quit because she had to quit. She also did the best thing for Alaska. Lets see how much work any of you could do if your busy defending against lawsuits that are trivial.

She was a great Governor and got the job done. I hope she runs, but not until 2016. Unfortunately we have too many idiots who will put Obama over the top.

Living in NY it is unfortunate how many of my fellow Jews who are stupid liberals yet get re-elected year in and year out. Palin is a genius compared to these bunch of clowns. I am talking about Schumer, Weiner, my Congressman Elliot Engel and the head of NYS Assembly named Sheldon SIlver.

Yet even Jews vote for them again and again and then complain the day after.

spaceship22 on July 26, 2010 at 7:00 pm

SPACESHIP22: are you kidding? have you actually READ what you wrote? “She quit because she had to?” Really? “GREAT GOVERNOR?”

No one is “ganging up” on her. Don’t you remember her saying that she’s as tough as a pitbull and as protective as a mama grizzlie? Mrs. Palin deserves ALL the attention she is receiving whether it be good or bad. If you’re a public figure that craves attention and power – not to mention selling a book, you better be prepared to get some criticism!

And by the way, I can’t imagine why ANYONE would be jealous of Mrs. Palin. I’ve travelled all over the world, I have 2 degrees, I have a healthy wonderful loving family AND I like my job. Oh, and I can see MEXICO from my vacation house.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you think people are idiots because they choose someone with a doctorate in law for President, as opposed to a hockey mom with an Associates degree, then YOU are the idiot for thinking that she can run a country!

RealCalifornian on July 28, 2010 at 4:09 am

Thanks for defending Palin. She’s not the enemy and she’s a friend to American exceptionalism, Israel and a balanced budget. Makes me sad to see Jews on the right disparage her like Jews on the left.

Abe on February 11, 2011 at 4:17 pm

The best thing that Sarah Palin did for Alaska is resign! She has a ‘special needs'(SN) son, goes walking with other parents of SN kids (special event) and then cuts benefits to educate SN kids in Alaska. Great Job!

Duh Sarah Palin dumb me smart…and so goes the endlessly repeating refrain of the functional illiterates on the Internet who harp on Palin’s linguistic missteps in order to assuage their secret shame at having trouble passing classes at the local junior college. I’m sick of them, and I’m sick of pundits continuing the old, tired refrain as well. Not only is the “Sarah Palin as moron” meme stale, it is false. Palin is not particularly erudite or eloquent, but she is not a moron. She has been a mayor, an oil and gas regulator, chief executive of a state, a small business owner. All of these positions require a high level of functioning in multiple cognitive domains, including planning and judgment, memory, communication, applying previously learned information to novel situations, and on and on and on. Just as illogical as the assertion that Palin is a moron is the suggestion that quite a few commentators make about her supporters, namely that all supporters are intellectually deficient by virtue of supporting her! This is an old, transparent propaganda technique that I vaguely remember learning about in high school–“If you like X, you’re dumb, evil, etc.” I dare say that it is rather easy to refute the argument that Palin and all of her fans are stupid, that is, show it to be invalid/erroneous AND easy to repudiate it as springing from less-than-pure, propagandistic motives. To use Palin’s cool portmanteau, I REFUDIATE the Palin-and-supporters-are-stupid discourse!!!! GO PALIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cali on July 27, 2010 at 12:36 am

Cali, you got it right GO PALIN! Go away! Go far away! Your claim that Palin must have great wisdom and intelligence because she has held multiple offices. Wow by that theory another disgraced governor in Rod Blagojevich must be another genius. She quit over minor ethic charges. I know of a sheriff in Arizona named Joe Arpaio who gets multiple lawsuits, multiple investigations and it only makes him more stronger. I have never heard him talking about quitting or bitching about being unfairly treated. I don’t see Arizona governor Jan Brewer quitting either.

CaliforniaScreaming on July 27, 2010 at 1:34 am

Democrats will of course lose seats in both houses come November 2010. But Obama will not be a 1-term president. It’s kinda simple, kinda basic. There is no Republican to beat him, and it’s doubtful one will materialize by 2012. I suppose you could hope for a horrific scandal to take him down; I wonder what that would be though?

EricTN on July 27, 2010 at 5:50 am

Is it just me, or does Palin have that kind of slight cross-eyed thingy (to quote her vernacular) about her? Kind of goes with what Debbie’s been writing (and I mean this purely observationally).

ConcernedPatriot on July 27, 2010 at 6:17 am

Ah, Deb is there actually named source to the story, no there isn’t, could be just a rumor floated by the Journolist or the
Alaskan anklebiter blogs that filed the 26 ethics complaints.
Do you believe everything said about you in the Detroit News

narciso on July 27, 2010 at 12:14 pm

I enjoyed this post. The only part that I think you got wrong is where her biggest pay day came from (besides the book deal). That would be FOX News!

Like Gosselin, Palin is also under contract with TLC; she is supposed to be making a show celebrating the joys and wonders of Alaska. “Sarah Palin’s Alaska.” Don’t you love the sheer postmodern insanity of reality TV? You have to admit there is synergy here — in the very worst sense of the word. It’s been reported that she will make a million per episode!

But I wonder what Fox News, which is also paying Palin north of a million bucks and has built a studio for her up in Alaska, thinks of her reality TV antics on TLC. The Sarah Palin brand that Fox ponied up the big bucks for is getting cheapened by the minute. You know, it won’t be long before she starts popping up in the kinds of commercials that play on cable news channels at 3 in the morning — the ones that keep screaming headache until you have one.

MY CRITICISM:
Debbie – While some of your criticism of Conservatives is or may be accurate, it seems that you have a one sided focus. I just read about six of our articles.

Where is the focused evisceration of Liberals – Democrats – Progressives – Socialists – Marxists, 100’s Muslim terror supporting organizations / person in US, Obama -and other anti-American organizations, persons, Leftists and others?

Are you just trying to destroy Conservatives? And protect the others by not commenting?
