Gary Dell’Abate from the Howard Stern Show called, this morning, and asked me to be on the show to talk about by columns on Peter Jennings. For those of you listening, who are looking for my pieces on the REAL Jennings, read them , , , and here.

i heard you on the stern show today, i was annoyed that they couldn’t keep quiet for a few minutes to let you get your point across. i understand that they are a comedy show and not political, but they would have had the same comic impact after you made your point. I appreciate that you did take the time to go on the air today, knowing that you would have to deal with Artie Lang and his tired joke. one caller after you agreed with you completely, which only verified your point.

Debbie, just heard you on Howard bashing Peter Jennings and you again sound crazy because of your one sidedness. A good reporter or person for that fact is someone who can see BOTH sides of an issue, and there are two sides to the Israeli – Palestinian conflict.

You’ve got to remember that people like Howard, Robin, & Artie are sheep. They’ve been trained to hold Network news readers and The New York Times in high regard. They’ll never get it. Thanks to the blogsphere, people (like me) have a real news outlet.

How could anyone refer to Howard Stern as a “sheep”? To be a sheep you have to go with the flock. Right? Howard most certainly does not go with the flock. Maybe he just looked at the facts and made a desicion on where he wants to stand.
To attack someone after they’re dead serves no purpose other than to disrespect their family. How angry would I be if someone bashed my father after he died?
You don’t have to respect someone just because they’ve died, but how about a little respect for their grieving family.

Cheezkid, your advice would have been best visited upon Jennings throughout his career, whenever he danced on the graves of the Munich Olympics Israeli athletes, American and Israeli victims of terror, etc. But that was advice he was neither given (by the likes of you or other Jennings fans) nor did he care to heed it–EVER. Payback is a bitch. I have no obligation to “respect” his family by going along with the fallacious beatification of St. Peter. They are not my relatives. I feel more obligated to worry about the grieving families of those innocent victims who died not because they smoked, but because they were targeted by Jennings’ Islamic terrorist buddies, whose goals he did much to further. If the undeserved gushing is acceptable, a little truth wouldn’t hurt either. Thou doth protest too much.

Thanks for responding Debbie. It’s really too bad you would only show respect out of obligation. What payback? Writing about him on some blog?
I have nothing against the truth. It just seems like everyone only looks for the truth from the other person and almost never themselves. I do now realise you have to do somthing with your time and you certainly do it well.

I always love hearing Debbie on Stern, even if Howard and Artie (and even Fred today) can’t quite seem to “grasp” the importance of the issues Debbie discusses. As big a fan as I am of Artie, every time he starts up on Debbie with his tired impression, I lose a little more respect for him. Some people just prefer to stay ignorant…

Why do you “respect” the second rate so called comedian Artie Lange? Without Howard he is in the Jackie Martling twilight zone.
I think Howard is intrigued by Debbie, but I’m not too sure in a good way. Debbie is one of the few women who Howard can’t intimidate since he is used to dealing with strippers and Hollywood bimbos and that is why they keep trying to make Debbie out to be a right wing fanatic.
Howard can be entertaining at times these days, but I think he is a total hypocrite.

I love Debbie on the Stern show, but Howard and the gang, while hugely entertaining, ARE sheep when it comes to politics.
When Debbie called Jason “Costanza” Alexander on the show regarding his terrorist-pandering causes, it’s as if they shut down and didn’t want to hear the truth (and Alexander had NO answers). It was made into a “funny” with Artie going off on his impression (again).
I hate to say it (especially since I am a daily Stern listener), but I don’t think your average Stern fan grasps the reality and consequences of their anti-administration stance.
Howard was great on his 9/11 show. Had fire about what needed to be done (and to whom). A few run-ins with the FCC later, and it’s nothing but how bad Bush is. Even more annoying is Robin’s uninformed cackling about the Iraq war – I thought she was pretty intelligent at one time… Perhaps she still is, but for cripes sake, do some research other than New York Times, Kos, or DemocraticUnderground.
I’m guessing that without all the FCC issues, Howard would never have slipped to the Dark Side.
And damn them all to hell for making me whistle the “Beatle” song when I’m at work.
