Barack Obama, Get the #$%& Out of My Shower!

By Debbie Schlussel

Remember the “Seinfeld” episode in which Jerry’s landlord installed low-flow showerheads in everyone’s shower?  Jerry and his neighbors all had flat hair and a not-so-clean feeling, and several of his neighbors bought regular-flow showerheads from Serbs who also sold illegal guns from the back of their van. Kramer’s black market regular-flow showerhead turns out to be a circus elephant showerhead with too much pressure.

Well, it’s no longer just the stuff of comedy, since Barack Obama is now doing this to the rest of the country.  It was bad enough when Bill Clinton forced people to use low-flow toilets.  But this is far worse.

Gene Goforth sells showerheads—big ones, like the Raindance Imperial 600 AIR. Selling for as much as $5,457, it has a 24-inch spray face, 358 no-clog channels and a triple-massage option. “You can just stand under it, and it helps your psyche,” says Mr. Goforth, who has one in his home.

“Seinfeld” Shower Now “Barack Obama”-Imposed Shower . . .

Now, Mr. Goforth is in a lather over the federal government’s tough new line on water-hogging showerheads, part of a new effort to enforce energy-and water-use regulations. . . .

Regulators are going after some of the luxury shower fixtures that took off in the housing boom. Many have multiple nozzles, cost thousands of dollars and emit as many as 12 gallons of water a minute. In May, the DOE stunned the plumbing-products industry when it said it would adopt a strict definition of the term “showerhead” in enforcing standards that have been on the books—but largely unenforced—for nearly 20 years.

Industry response has been fast and furious. “It was not the legislative intent of Congress to authorize DOE to regulate the bathing habits of Americans,” wrote Frederick Desborough, vice president of California Faucets, a Huntington Beach, Calif., manufacturer, in a letter to the DOE in June.

The showdown is a challenge to President Barack Obama and his energy secretary, Steven Chu, as they try to cajole—or compel—Americans to use water and energy more efficiently. Mr. Chu, a self-described “zealot” for energy efficiency, says he crawls around in his attic in his spare time installing extra insulation.

Yeah, this Green Geek is the guy Barack Obama has assigned to get into your shower and tell you how to wash up. Nauseating. This nitpicking Inspector Clouseauian work is what your tax dollars are paying for–Green Gone Gaga (and I don’t mean “Lady Gaga”):

In May, the DOE said a “showerhead” may incorporate “one or more sprays, nozzles or openings.” Under the new interpretation, all nozzles would count as a single showerhead and be deemed noncompliant if, taken together, they exceed the 2.5 gallons-a-minute maximum.

In May, the DOE’s general counsel, Scott Blake Harris, fined four showerhead makers $165,104 in civil penalties, alleging they failed to demonstrate compliance for some devices. . . .

Hansgrohe AG, of Germany, says its Raindance device meets the current 2.5-gallons-per-minute standard but would violate the proposed new definition of showerhead. It will “negatively impact an already weakened American industry, just as it begins to experience signs of recovery,” the company said in a June 18 letter to the DOE.

Altmans Products, a U.S. unit of Grupo Helvex of Mexico City, says it got a letter from the DOE in January and has stopped selling several popular models, including the Shower Rose, which delivers 12 gallons of water a minute.

How much you wanna bet Barack and Michelle Hussein Obama have a very strong high-flow shower head in the White House residence?

Like I said, sadly life imitates “Seinfeld.” Barack Obama, GET OUT OF MY SHOWER!

IT’S ALL ABOUT PROMOTING CARBON TAXES TO PAY OFFSHORE BANKERS LIKE ROTHSCHILD WHO NOW RUN EVERYTHING DEBBIE!

Bob Porrazzo on July 21, 2010 at 11:40 am

This isn’t a regulation issue. It’s a pricing problem in supply and demand.

If people want to run 12 gallons a minute (like Obama), then the should have to pay big buck$.

It’s very simple. You should have a choice in a free country.

As goes Israel - So goes the World on July 21, 2010 at 12:01 pm

First, let me address the jerk who blames the Rothschild. You are an anti-Semitic idiot. Rothschild has nothing to do with Obama. No contact, nothing. The banking interests of the Rothschilds is dwarfed by the big banking houses in China, Germany, and by Morgan, Citigroup, Bank of America, and Harriman.

Second, and on topic, the “water conserving toilets” waste more water than a normal toilet, as it usually takes three flushes to do the job. The showers will take more water, and clean people less.

This reminds me of Michelle Obama telling everyone to vacation in the Gulf of Mexico, as she and her lady-boy Barack Obama flew to Maine. It is like Al Bore telling everyone to lower their standard of living because of Global Warming, as he drives off in his Cadillac Escalade to his new mega mansion in California.

Jon, this new rule is meant for the Little People. Obama and his cronies are not going to deprive themselves of the pleasures of life.

My new house has TWO shower heads in the shower. Now, I can tell BO to FO every time I get clean.

Ari on July 21, 2010 at 12:10 pm

Obama get the f*ck out of my shower! Low flow toilet were bad enough but telling us how long we can stand under our own showers is none of Washington’s business. Next, they’ll be telling us how often we can breathe!

NormanF on July 21, 2010 at 12:30 pm

Obama should install a low-flow teleprompter in the White House – 2.5 Uhhs per minute.

The whole “green” movement strikes me as shallow. People don’t want coal fired power plants, but they complain and litigate against nuclear power plants. Nuke plants put out very little greenhouse gasses and the spent fuel rods can be recycled.

Solar energy is nice, but there are toxic compounds and even petrochemicals needed to manufacture them. But you need a lot of land to put enough up so it’s viable.

Then there’s huge wind turbines cluttering up the landscape visually and audibly. Not to mention they’re shut off half the time instead of producing more electricity.

The people that feel so “green” driving their electric cars, but will shun nuke plants. Where do they think their electricity comes from? Sometimes it’s from coal fired power plants. But they spent too much time and energy trying to keep the nuke plant from being built to understand that.

Then there’s the people saying we should stop using oil because of the “Oilpocalypse.” And they do it after they’ve washed their hair, cleansed themselves, opened up a food package, rode their bike on the morning workout, then drove off to work.

The shampoos and soaps we use have petrochemicals in them. The food packaging as well as any medical devices are made from petrochemicals. That cool town and country bicycle has tires made from oil, the fenders, derailuer pulleys, chain lube, grease, and cable housings are made from oil. And the electric or hybrid car would come to a screeching halt were it not for the lubes, greases, fluids, and oil made from oil.

To Igrant. I remember an episode of King of the Hill where Hank installed a low flow toilet and had to flush it four times. And the wife was in the bathroom for half an hour flushing it some six times. The stupidity is not lost even in the media.

John on July 21, 2010 at 1:10 pm

Thanks Debbie, The Seinfeld video was great. There’s no other reaction except open rebellion.

mk750 on July 21, 2010 at 1:13 pm

John,
You’ve hit everything that I was going to say….Well done.

Couple of things to add though, Montana had a huge wind turbine system going until the GREEN police had them shut down because the turbines were detrimental to the birds…no lie.
Here in North Dakota we have several wind turbine systems, they’re great but they do not produce the 220 amp for electrical purposes so something else still has to be in place for this kind of electricity. Also the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT will not allow us to build the systems required to export the electricity that we do produce from these systems.

We also have the ethenol (corn) mixture in our gasoline, for 3-5 cents less than regular gas. Although the ethenol mixture burns 1 gallon of gas faster than the regular mix so in terms of saving money, buy the regular gas. It also costs more to produce the ethenol and is more detrimental to the environment to produce than just burning gasoline.

Debbie had an article in the past about all those “GREEN” re-usable grocery bags that are also saving the planet made from CHINA. She stated then and is still true today, the pollutants poured into the atmosphere from CHINA to make the bad is 10 times more destructive than the plastic sitting in a land fill.

Basically the “green” movement is a cause for ignorant people to get their panties in a bunch about. They do zero research and want everyone to just go back to living in the dark ages.

The other thing that is AMAZING about all of it is: The civilized world (America) needs to stop using energy, oil, coal, plastic, and now apparently water…..but the Muslim world and Asian countries can pollute and pump out all the oil they want in order to rule the rest of the world…GO FIGURE!

“Laws that have been sitting on the books unenforced.” So why don’t they enforce the immigration laws instead of suing Arizona when they try to?

Barack Obama

I would rant but….

Yessir, with all the problems in the world, this is what they’re concerned with.

“How much you wanna bet Barack and Michelle Hussein Obama have a very strong high-flow shower head in the White House residence?”

I wouldn’t put it past them. Obama was the guy who turned UP the heat in the White House so he could work in his shirt sleeves – this while he wanted us to save energy. And cost the taxpayers a million or so (while leaving quite a carbon footprint) so he and the misses could have a night out in New York.

Raymond in DC on July 21, 2010 at 5:45 pm

They can forget about enforcing this…what are they going to do come into your house and change your shower head if it doesn’t mean their ridiculous regulations?? People should invest in shower heads with multi-streams and put them in now before they put these out of circulation. Ridiculous…

Especially when they have the nerve to fly their dog in a separate plane when they go on vacation! They can f*** off and kiss my a$$

freedom4usa on July 22, 2010 at 1:12 pm

People are actually complaining about water conservation?? What a horrible idea, trying to reduce our water consumption so future generations can enjoy the same quality of life that we have.

TheDarkKnight on July 22, 2010 at 4:32 pm

“People are actually complaining about water conservation?? What a horrible idea, trying to reduce our water consumption so future generations can enjoy the same quality of life that we have.”

Oh, that is soooo right! Because once we use up all the water on this planet it will be gone forever. What I really mean to say is, “You’re not a smart man”

Richard on August 31, 2011 at 4:59 pm

I was just reading about this in one of my construction trade publications. It is really terrible not only for plumbing dealers, but for us. We could no longer have a bath / shower combo under this. Oh the joys of lib policies! One legislation that you may not have heard about is the lead paint one (RRP). Many in the industry had never heard of it either. They’ve had to postpone it until October so contractors can get “certified.” My husband went to a certification class that cost $188. The EPA certification is $300. The costs to do remodeling in a pre-1978 home will set homeowners back more $$ as well. While it seems like a good idea to “save children” from lead exposure, it doesn’t. They overruled an opt-out for people without children in the home which is proof they don’t even care about that.
This is a really good article about it: http://www.remodeling.hw.net/blogs/postdetails.aspx?BlogId=tedsremodelingblog&PostId=96029.

I remember back in the day when Carter spent millions sending out little plastic gizmos designed to be put in your shower heads to reduce water flow. The little gizmo went in the trash and so did Carter! Well several months ago my trusty hi-flow shower head finally blew a gasket so I bought another. Before installation the plastic object designed to reduce water flow was removed, and now my shower head works like the old one – and in fact better since it is larger. Who gives a damn about water usage – I have my own deep well and plenty of water every day of the week. THIS SHOWER IS MY SPA!

Jamie Shafer on July 23, 2010 at 10:22 am

I have 2 speakman model 1 shower heads, flow is up to 20 gpm. Eat ur hearts out. Its fed by a hansgro roughin that can support up to 7 showerheads, or one model 1. 3/4 inch pipes at 80psi mean you have a waterfall if you want. You can drown yourself if you want or turn it down to a mist. I call it an American shower. You can choose what You want, not what obamas goons and the commies choose for you. Water is not in short supply and it just keeps on raining! Must be just like a renewable resource!
