Heroes: “Snooping” Utah State Workers & Mysterious List of 1,300 Illegal Aliens

By Debbie Schlussel

Hmmm . . . it’s gotta be embarrassing for Barack Obama’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), when two Utah state workers can instantly do the job his immigration enforcers refuse to do.  It’s yet another example why Arizona’s immigration law was necessary and needs to be spread nationwide, as well as an analysis of state databases.

illegalaliens.jpg

For nearly a week, Utah officials–including the state’s attorney general–have been up in arms over a list of 1,300 alleged illegal aliens, which was mailed to law enforcement and the media. Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff, a Republican, is launching an investigation and a task force to look into how the list was compiled and the info obtained to create it. Hmm . . . if only he worked this hard to actually locate and deport the illegal aliens on the list.  He likens the list to a “hit list” and says it makes it harder for his investigators to go after illegal aliens.  No, it exposes that he and his investigators aren’t doing their jobs.

Although some of the list allegedly have green cards, most reports indicate that the list of 1,300 is largely accurate.  Most of the people on it are here illegally and are collecting oodles of state and federal benefits.  That’s why they are in the database.  They’re collecting food stamps and plenty of other costly entitlements.

Now, at least two Utah state employees, who work for Utah’s Department of Workforce Services, are in trouble for illegally accessing the confidential documents and databases to create the list.  But here’s the thing:  why is this illegal?  Why won’t states look at the list, say, “Hey, you’re not supposed to be here,” and dispatch their state police to pick them up and deport them.  1,300 isn’t that many.  It can–and should–be done.

And, as far as accessing these precious, confidential databases, it’s interesting who is protected  .  .  . and who isn’t.  If you’re a dad who is allegedly behind on child support, not only will every state in the Union access its databases and keep you from getting your benefits, but it will use various benefits and entitlement databases to find you and, likely, arrest you.

But if you’re an illegal alien, whose entire family is living off the state and you’ve not paid a dime toward supporting your kids, well, then . . . how dare state employees look you up and report you.

And that’s the thing here:  it’s an embarrassment–an embarrassment to Utah and an embarrassment to the federal government.  In a matter of minutes, two lowly state employees put together the list of illegal aliens sucking Utah dry and notified police and the public.  And if it takes only two people to do this, why does it take 300 million taxpayers to pay for a giant bloated federal agency to enforce the law . . . and we still can’t get it done?

No one supports illegally accessing private databases, but illegal aliens have and should expect no right to privacy under the law.  These two Utah state employees are heroes . . . not criminals.  And I celebrate what they did.

After all, they are doing the proverbial “work that American just won’t do.” Call it civil disobedience. That’s what it is.

I would think this would be a great way to enforce the immigration laws. After all, how can a computer database racially profile?

What if racial profiling yields a benefit?

Why can the criminal claim a protection of ignoring his race?

Debbie, while at the store yesterday I leafed through the Sunday New York Times and I found this: sob story about poor Americans not getting an unemployment check extension. And then an editorial telling us allowing illegal aliens to take over low paying jobs won’t take work away from Americans.

Same newspaper, same day.

There is mounting suspicion in Washington and Jerusalem that Tehran used the scientist as a double agent to strew red herrings in their path – out-of-date material for concealing and misdirecting their attention from the rapid progress taking place secretly in Iran’s nuclear program.”

What I find interesting is no one sees any thing wrong with illegal aliens collecting federal and state entitlement benefits. But public officials are outraged at two whistleblowers who expose the theft of hard working Americans’ tax dollars for the benefit of those who have no right to be in the country in the first place. In the end, its all about the priorities, stupid. And keeping our country safe and securing the borders comes dead last with those high in the government.

do you have to dig out this propagandistic photo every time you post your opinion about illegal aliens…?

    Mo Jamal:

Do you ever have anything to say worth reading?

Why don’t you kiss allah’s butt?

Seems to me, the more illegals off the dole, the more funds with which to extend unemployment benefits to citizens. We don’t know if these two were employed in the agencies giving out the funds to illegals, maybe the “Crime” here is that they published the names. Either way, these two will probably get prison for this, it is shameless what we are coming to in this country. We need to stop all immigration until we get a handle on our country and the loss of jobs.

Obama will do anything he can to try to up his Lib votes for 2010. If he can’t bring in Puerto Rico as state #51, he’ll buy every illegal aliens vote with some immediate amnesty program.

As stinks Israel and so on:

Why don’t you first stop kissing her butt?

Jamal on July 19, 2010 at 2:07 pm

That’s classy, Jamal.

Now tell us how Muslims are really moderate. We’re waiting.

NormanF on July 19, 2010 at 3:50 pm

That’s not classy at all, NormanF.

Otherwise this is not the place to be classy. To be adressed as Mo is one annoying thing, but the sacrilege of allah does not leave any room for a rational discussion.

OK, so I can not get maternity coverage through my insurance company now – they quit offering it in April. My husband and I are by no means rich, but we make too much money for handouts (which I would never take by the way). So if I get pregnant I will be paying everything out of pocket. Then we have illegals and their anchor babies – WE are paying for their health care…or they just run out on their bills and never end up paying. Again, WE are the ones who pay for all of this. Can someone please tell me why any of this is allowed? Seriously…my husband (who became a citizen LEGALLY 2 years ago) and I work hard, pay our taxes, pay for our own health insurance and I can not get any maternity coverage! I am really getting fed up. You do things the right way and get screwed while people who break the law get everything handed to them. It absolutely disgusts me!

Excellent point, well done! Mark Shurtleff is shill, intoxicated with leftist P/C, and should be impeached for dereliction of duty. Using databases for the purpose of locating American citizens in arrears on their child support for the purpose of witholding a benefit is the ultimate double standard, when you’re unwilling enforce your own immigration law.

Are you effing kidding me? By likening the list to a “hit list” Shurtleff’s making the weak strawman argument. Way to go Mark.

Thank you for reporting this, Debbie. Keep up the good work.

You do love this photo I’ve noticed.

Our local paper ran a wire/press story about how the list is part of a witch hunt. Well, witches are not real, but illegal aliens are real felons. Big difference?

Dr Dale on July 20, 2010 at 8:49 pm

The Short Memories Of Jews: I wonder how many Jews came and continue to come to the United States illegally because of economic reasons. Just wondering.

And when people finally figure out the only way to get this activity stopped is to take up arms and administer local justice will people realize our govt is corrupt… our govt will then send in military to shoot citizens that take up arms against this corruption, just like they are firing workers that show publically what this corrupt system of non enforcement of illegal aliens has been. Corruption has to be rooted out even as the corrupt use our own military, cia, fbi, dea, etc., etc., against the rest of us.
