Why would ICE attend state senate hearing. Is not ICE a Federal agency and regulated under Federal guidacne and regs

ICE employees are public servants. The Oklahoma State Senate made a very reasonable request. The ICE folks should get their asses their forthwith and try to answer the good senator’s concerns.

yes they are federal emplopyee and state have no jurisdiction over them. If they have to oblige every state Tom Dick Harry request than who would get the work done?

yes that issue of being answerable to the little people gets in your way of thinking all the time, don’t it.
as the states don’t have authority to intervene in immigration matters, and as the I-35 corridor is a conduit for all sorts of illegals, i.e., seventeen latinos in a pickup truck, no drivers license, no passport, no insurance, what’s a state got to do to get some attention.
the feds are the ones with authority regarding immigration.
given the typical weekly occuring example above, just what work is being done?
the feds are slacking and don’t want to have their feet held to the fire.

and thirdgoat, try to remember that power in this counrty flows from the people, to the state, to the federal level. that makes the federal gov’t answerable to little ‘ol me, and why for all of our faults, no other gov’t anywhere in the world even/ever will come close to the US.

Why can’t the States write their own immigration laws. The 10th Amendment gives them that right. In fact there was a war fought over the specifics of the 10th Amendment. The several states voluntarily joined the United States and also, originally, had the right to leave, consequently were forced at the point of a gun to return.
The whole problem as I see it is enforcement. Not new laws why can’t they just enforce the existing laws already written, Illegal Immigrants should be deported. (Period)
The Growers in California are worried about their cheap labor, for picking crops, when are these cheapskate growers going to come into the twentieth century, there are machines that do that work. The bottom line is we don’t need these illegal aliens, but suddenly, because of security neglect we have more than we can deal with like 12 million more than we can deal with, and this thumb in the dyke type legislation is not going to fix the problem.
