Meet Larry King’s Troop-Murdering Replacement, Piers Morgan
He may have a pretentious name and a fancy English accent, but those are among the many deceptions of Piers Morgan, the man set to replace Larry King on his CNN prime time talk show. In fact, Morgan–about whom I’ve written on this site before–is a despicable low-life, who deliberately betrayed Western troops and put them in danger. And the close friend of Simon Cowell engaged in sleazy, illegal self-dealing in stock trades.

And that makes him perfect for CNN, the second English-speaking Al-Jazeera on U.S. soil. Morgan, as you may know, rose to fame as the Editor-in-Chief of the UK’s Daily Mirror tabloid newspaper. But the part that’s, unfortunately, rarely mentioned is what’s important–why he was forced to leave the Mirror. As I noted back in 2007,
He’s the former editor because he was fired in May 2004, after he stood by hoax photos his paper published of British soldiers allegedly torturing Iraqi detainees.
The photos were faux, as in faux-tography. Yet–once he was caught–instead of apologizing, Morgan stood by their veracity and claimed he’d be vindicated. That remains his position, three years later, despite the fact that it was obvious that the photos had been staged. Morgan’s actions were reprehensible, irresponsible, and endangered British–and American–troops’ lives. And they were used as recruiting tools for Al-Qaeda.
The Muslims took their anger and revenge out not just on British soldiers, but, no doubt, on Americans, too. They don’t differentiate.
And that’s not to mention Morgan’s “share-tipping” scandal, also as Daily Mirror editor. He and his reporters and columnists wrote about companies in which they owned and traded stock, pushing up the value of the shares they owned and not disclosing it in their writing.
Mirror editor Piers Morgan breached the newspaper industry’s code of practice in the recent share dealing scandal, the Press Complaints Commission has ruled.
The PCC said Morgan had fallen short of the high professional standards demanded by the code. . . .
He bought shares in Wiggins Group as well as 20,000 Pounds worth of Viglen Technology shares on January 17, the day before the City Slickers [a column in his newspaper] page tipped the company [DS: promoted the company’s stock and made the price/value of shares go up].
Shares in Viglen jumped when the report was published, boosting Mr Morgan’s paper fortune.

Daily Mirror editor Piers Morgan has been sacked after the newspaper conceded photos of British soldiers abusing an Iraqi were fake.
In a statement the Mirror said it had fallen victim to a “calculated and malicious hoax” and that it would be “inappropriate” for Morgan to continue.
The Queen’s Lancashire Regiment (QLR) said the Mirror had endangered British troops by running the pictures.
Roger Goodman, of the QLR, said the regiment now felt “vindicated”.
Mr Goodman added: “It is just a great pity it has taken so long… and that so much damage has been done in the meantime.”
At a news conference in Preston on Friday afternoon, the regiment demonstrated to reporters aspects of uniform and equipment which it said proved the photographs were fake.
The regiment’s Brigadier Geoff Sheldon said the vehicle featured in the photographs had been located in a Territorial Army base in Lancashire and had never been in Iraq.
He said the QLR’s reputation had been damaged by the Mirror and asked the newspaper to apologise because the evidence they were staged was “overwhelming”.
Deputy leader and foreign affairs spokesman, Michael Ancram, said . . . “The photos that were published in the Daily Mirror have done great damage to the reputation of our troops, who are serving under some of the most difficult conditions in Iraq.”
The photos published in the Mirror on 1 May appeared to show British troops torturing an Iraqi detainee.
In one picture a soldier is seen urinating on a hooded man while in another the hooded man is being hit with a rifle in the groin.
Colonel Black, a former regiment commander of the QLR, said the pictures put lives in danger and acted as a “recruiting poster” for al-Qaeda.
Very telling of the lies, fiction, and unethical self-dealing you’ll see nightly on Piers Morgan Live on CNN. No worries, though. No matter how smarmy and snobbish his demeanor and behavior, he won’t be able to lift that show out of the ratings bargain basement where the incompetent Larry King took it.
CNN . . . not just the Crescent News Network, but also the Cretins’ News Network.
Ironically, Morgan currently co-hosts “America’s Got Talent” on NBC. Well, as Morgan showed in spades, Britain’s got talent, too. And not in a good way.
