REAL Security: Britain’s Now Doing it; When Will We?
The Times–August 15, 2006
Muslims face extra checks in new travel crackdown
By Ben Webster, Transport Correspondent
THE Government is discussing with airport operators plans to introduce a screening system that allows security staff to focus on those passengers who pose the greatest risk.
The passenger-profiling technique involves selecting people who are behaving suspiciously, have an unusual travel pattern or, most controversially, have a certain ethnic or religious background.
The system would be much more sophisticated than simply picking out young men of Asian appearance. But it would cause outrage in the Muslim community because its members would be far more likely to be selected for extra checks.
Officials at the Department for Transport (DfT) have discussed the practicalities of introducing such a system with airport operators, including BAA. They believe that it would be more effective at identifying potential terrorists than the existing random searches.
Mazel Tov. Britain now gets it. When will George Bush, Michael Chertoff, and Norm Mineta’s successor?

The UK has its PC weaknesses but sometimes they can get through it to do the right thing. Racial profiling? Anything is better than the inane wasteful political correctness in America’s homeland security setup that treats all threats the same. Debbie, if you were in charge, that would all be different. Sometimes, I think people who know what does need to be done are kept out of public life on purpose and that’s why we have incompetents running the government. Mediocrities like Michael Chertoff and whoever gets to be named to the Transportation Department. I like to call it as I see it but my big mouth and my thoughtfulness will get me in trouble every time. I should just learn to shut up but I can’t tolerate mankind’s follies! 😉
