Since when is someone who makes millions of dollars a role model? To whom? The stupid people? “I’m not a role model” is the only thing that round mound of expound has ever said that was actually true.
PRO ATHLETES ARE ALWAYS ROLE MODELS. THEY CAN’T PLAY IT BOTH WAYS–HAVING BIG MULTI-MILLION $$$ ENDORSEMENT DEALS TO SELL THINGS TO KIDS WHOM THEY KNOW THEY INFLUENCE; THEN SAYING, “DON’T LET ME INFLUENCE YOU–I’M NOT A ROLE MODEL.” IT’S THE EPITOME OF HYPOCRISY.

There few celebrities in public life who really are conservative. We don’t need those who are loudmouths, racist or lacking in the character department listed as conservatives/Republicans. There’s a line the GOP shouldn’t cross. Fame is so overrated. As for the “heart and soul” of America exemplified by Ted Nugent and Charles Buckley, let the Democrats have them.
We can keep our values and that’s more important than whether someone famous is in the picture – it matters a lot more in the long run, too.

Every celebrity is a role model. Why has so much ink been spilled on Mel Gibson? Because he’s somebody, that’s who. If he was a nobody gutter level anti-Semite no one would give him the time of day. As a celebrity, what he says and does sets an example for others. And these people shouldn’t be allowed to have it both ways – they make their millions and off their high living they persuade impressionable people to imitate them and when they’re caught with their pants down, they wriggle out of responsibility for their transgressions.
Nah ah. They come down twice as hard. If someone famous doesn’t want all the attention, positive and negative, they shouldn’t be a celebrity in the first place. They’re always role models whether they want it or not cause people look up to them and that’s true whether they’re actors, singers or pro athletes.
Now if only they would behave like the “heart and soul” of America, they would gain more admiration and fewer jeers from the public. As Debbie said, its the hypocrisy that puts people off.

when it comes to hollywood, conservatives like jews have a desperate need to be liked…hence the usual lists of ‘conservative celebrities’ and the embrace of completely dubious people who refuse to even identity themselves as conservatives or address republican events as ‘conservatives’

While I’ve always loved Ted Nugent’s music and stance on some issues such as drugs, he has many problems. Chronic infidelity can never be on the resume of someone who preaches values. Unfortunately, there seems to be no contrition on his part. Nugent is a great spokesman for the second amendment and his anti-drug stance, just not family values. I knew in my teenage years back in the late 70’s that “Uncle Ted” was a great act and little more.

All professional athletes are not role models. They are, for the most part, dumb jocks. Only stupid people think they are to be revered. The same goes for actors – a LARGE percentage of them are high school dropouts.
And they certainly can play it boths ways. Michael Jordan is a well known degenerate gambler, forced to resign from the NBA, and he still peddles crap to the stupid people. PT Barnum was right.
