An Important Flag Bill That Got Little Fanfare

By
While we constantly hear about American flag-burning (which we find highly offensive and disgusting), we hear a lot less about something that’s also offensive: snooty condo and homeowner associations that ban display of the flag.
Now, that issue has been addressed (to very little press notice). Last week, President Bush signed into law the Freedom to Display the American Flag Act of 2005, a law that bars condominium and homeowner associations from restricting how the American flag can be displayed.
We congratulate Congressman Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD) for sponsoring the bill that allows residents to display the flag on their own property without interference from anti-Patriots and snoots who care more about the view of green lawns and McMansions than the freedoms that allowed them to acquire them.
More on the new law here. Don’t let your neighbors unlawfully harass you for your proud display of the flag.

Debbie,
Thanks so much for posting this. I would never have known about the new law, but for your posting. It is of prime and patriotic importance that the natioal flag be honoured unhindered. No confirmation was needed but this post tells me that your heart is in the right place.
As a fellow patriotic American, I salute you.

I’m all for private property rights but I’ve had it with snots and those with their heads stuck in their rear who can’t appreciate we live in a country at war and its perfectly normal to express love for it. I tend to blunt on something like this and when I in my late 20s, I came out against flag burning when the U.S Supreme Court issued a stupid decision overturning two centuries of laws to protect it to give anti-American radicals license to hate our country. I should curse the enemy with all the passion of my German ancestors but I’m too civilized for that. For me, America is all about – and should be – the freedom to display your patriotism on your lawn. Those who can’t stand it can start leaving this country. We don’t need such people here who are unhappy with America and God bless her!
