NAACP Prez Has it Partially Right; Then Gets it Totally Wrong
By
One-and-a-half cheers to NAACP President Bruce Gordon. And an equal amount of jeers.
Yesterday, in his keynote speech at the group’s annual meeting, Gordon urged Black Americans to end “victim-like thinking” and pull themselves up by their bootstraps.
We may not have all the power that we want, but we have all the power that we need. All we have to do is believe it and use it.
Unfortunately, he then went on to call for a Black boycott of businesses, including Target. We have our own problems with Target. The retail giant sells clothes made in terror-host state Syria and terror-sympathizing United Arab Emirates–and refuses to answer questions regarding that. Plus, the store has and seems to .
But Gordon’s beef with Target and other businesses is that they don’t give enough biz to Black businesses, meaning: We want a shakedown, Jesse Jackson-style.
Gordon, a powerful Black executive who rose to the top ranks of Verizon, should know better.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

First of all, never trust a man with two first names! These kind of shake-down tactics continue to work and I am continually puzzled at the lack of outrage from ordinary Americans like myself at how these Race Merchants can extort millions from the likes of Toyota, Target, or NASCAR. Why do these companies continually cave in to these assholes?! I just don’t get it.
