EXCLUSIVE: Who is Harold Hurtt? Meet the Immigration Enforcement Foe . . . Who Wants to be ICE’s Public Face

By Debbie Schlussel

Think immigration enforcement is bad enough, now? Well, it could soon be in a world of hurt . . . and Hurtt. Same difference. The Obama Administration wants to put an outspoken opponent of immigration enforcement in a position of immigration enforcement. No, not the head of La Raza. But Harold Hurtt–close enough.

World of Hurtt: Illegal Aliens’ Best Friend Wants Key ICE Job

If the name Harold Hurtt sounds familiar to you, it might be because, last year, I wrote about his disgusting interview with Al-Jazeera.  The then-police chief of Houston told the Terrorist News Network how “horrible” our prison system is and how the mentally ill “aren’t treated well,” a complete crock.  But it was useful propaganda for Jazeera to spread to the Muslim world about how “evil” America is (even though our prisons are luxe resorts compared to every day life in most of those countries, let alone in their prisons or mental institutions).  More important, Hurtt built his career on adamantly opposing every form of immigration law enforcement and proudly “enforced” Houston’s sanctuary city status to shield illegal aliens.

Incredibly, Hurtt wants to become the public face of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and is the Napolitano/Obama prospective choice to head up the agency’s Office of State and Local Coordination (OSLC).  It’s the primary position overseeing ICE’s Section 287 (g) program, which works with and allows state and local law enforcement to enforce immigration laws and round up illegal aliens.

ICE agents from the top on down are livid.  Hurtt made a mockery of their efforts throughout his Houston career and opposes what they do.

Moreover, Hurtt was THE key player in Houston Mayor Bill White’s sanctuary city team, which was responsible for illegal aliens killing two Houston Police Department officers and shooting another in the face.  Hurtt was the defendent in a lawsuit filed by one of the officers’ widows.  Watch this video news report, below, from September:

And that’s in addition to the fact that any cursory google search of this man’s name pulls mountains of results for statements he’s made adamantly opposing state and local law enforcement of immigration laws, the very job he seeks and for which Napolitano and her man running ICE, Suzie Barr, are pushing him.  (John Mor(t)on, who heads ICE, is merely a self-important puppet/figurehead riding around in a car with bodyguards.)

In August 2006, Hurtt testified before Congress, saying cops should not assist with arresting illegal aliens.  And that was among a gazillion other places he spouted off against the efforts he now seeks to head up.  Talk about a hypocrite.  The position Hurtt now seeks serves as ICE’s public face  and primary spokesman to the law enforcement community nationwide.  It’s like putting Rosie O’Donnell on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.  A complete joke.  But the joke’s on you, America.  He doesn’t know a thing about what ICE does.

Hurtt can’t get a job.  And he’s desperately looking for one.  Even the “fabulously” progressive city of San Francisco refused to hire former Chief Hurtt.  City officials saw through this absolute zero and refused to bring him on board.  So why is ICE considering it?

Career ICE agents believe that hiring this absolute disgrace is a way for the Democrats to further kill grass roots immigration enforcement, the little of it left that DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano didn’t already extinguish. Napolitano and Barr already hired the unqualified Ann Yom as the deputy director for this program, the OSLC.  Yom has zero law enforcement experience, and, in her previous job, she set up conferences for the National Sheriff’s Association.  Now, this glorified party planner supervises at least 20 law enforcement personnel and the 287(g) program described above, nationwide.

Yom is bad enough.  But Hurtt is a disaster.  If he succeeds in getting the plum OSLC Director slot at ICE, don’t be surprised if more ICE agents leave in droves.  Things are bad enough at the agency.

Everything that Harold Hurtt touches becomes major steaming fecal material.  And, pardon the pun, but ICE will be a world of Hurtt.  So will America.  And we might as well just open our borders and let everyone traipse in.

Stop Harold Hurtt.  And let him look for work where he belongs .  . . as a private security guard (with apologies to the hard-working men and women who actually qualify as security guards).

It seems as though Obama is destroying our country, one political appointment at a time.

LifeInaShoe on March 2, 2010 at 2:37 pm

LIS is right.

Sort of like appointing Eric Holder as Attorney General. Put the radical leftists in positions where they can do the most damage to the country they have soooo much contempt for.

Affirmative action keeps coming back to bite us all.

Its unbeleivable what this freak in Washington is doing!…how do the clowns, who voted for this loser, feel now?…God help us all… what he is going to do in the future…this BO is just plain disgustingly scary!!!!!

BIG IRISH on March 2, 2010 at 5:00 pm

Even if this guy gets appointed and is somehow removed later on, consider this: the amount of damage going forward from the people HE appoints while he’s in.

Same thing about the WH now: Even if all the major dudes and dudettes are thrown out tomorrow, it will take years to undo what will be continued to be done by the lower-level appointees that will still be around years after.

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury…the verdict is in and we are being sold down the drain faster than I can type this. With the financial and moral delimma we are in, this country is gone. Ovenready is correct…if we could change it today, where do we start to clean up the mess? God help us….

Sad, and his sidekick Bill White is running for Gov. of Texas as open borders, which unfortunately so are Perry and Hutchinson. Medina is pro-enforcement, but is a kook otherwise. Unfortunately it’s the norm to have anti-enforcement people in charge of enforcement. We should all be doing everything we can to support people like Sheriff Arpaio and J.D. Hayworth in Arizona, among others who are trying to do something about this. They are under seige.

Hope and change.

Plus Obongo’s predilection to appoint gay, black, transgender, or minority otherwise candidates is a poison pill for future administrations because they will be inhibited to kick these people out wholesale unless they have a suitable minority replacement.

DS_ROCKS! on March 2, 2010 at 9:18 pm

I was going to mention the same thing, but I figured I’d be hailed as a racist for doing so. Everytime I turn around and get a look at one of his appointments, who are either leftist loons or terrorist sympathizers, they all seem to be black or gay. I’m sorry but are there no intellegent Black folks out there to nominate? Sorry again, but name me one city, state, or country where Blacks are in charge and things are going well.

We don’t do the job anyway, so what the hell is the difference?
‘DIVERSITY’ is a hardship one strives to overcome, not some artificially created bullshit from OPM.

Once again, another candidate for a position in ice who has NO EXPERIENCE, NO TRAINING, NADA for the job. Familiarity breeds contempt…this is the same nightmare over and over. There hasn’t been a solid immigration enforcement effort in a LOOOOOOOOOONG time. Why? – because nobody cares and the people in charge are CLUELESS as to the problem because they NEVER SERVED in immigration enforcement, be it Border Patrol, Immigration Inspector, et al. Sorry, chief of police of Houston, Chicago, Bumf**k, Nebraska (pop. 300) doesn’t qualify. As far as ice agents leaving in droves, they already have through early retirement or some just took off for the middle east as contractors to utilize their training and experience and get paid more for it.

The whole program has been going in the tank for quite some time; big piles of excrement just take longer to flush but it’s still making its way to the big cesspool. Letting customs take over ice (along with everything else) was a HUGE mistake but nobody cared because they’re under the delusion that customs is the greatest thing since ribbed condoms. They don’t know squat about immigration and don’t care…they’ll tell you flat out.
(hey, but dangle a fake Gucci handbag in front of them and watch them get all over it like a cheap suit).

Then you have bimbo laplickers in charge of DHS who, again, have NO EXPERIENCE and succeed only in furthering the demise of whatever was left in the wake of the previous boneheads. Let’s not forget the “yes men/women” running around the beltway thinking they’re all important in hq (if you can extract their faces from each other’s a**).

It used to make me sick to see all this but now I don’t care; I just sit back and LMAO!

IceNoMore on March 3, 2010 at 1:46 am

Everytime I have written to my Senators and Representatives they send me back a line of BS about how the President “has wide latitude in making appointments”. These folks will not stand against anyone that the Obama regime wants.

Sam Deakins on March 3, 2010 at 7:28 am

How come no one has challenged these Sanctuary cities aand have had the Mayors or officials doing it arrested? Is that not Conspiracy to comit a crime? Harboring a fugative? and a whole host of other crimes?
If I was to give sanctuary to some on the run Angels or Outlaws I would be arrested so why are these people getting away with it?
The law says illegal invaders should be arrested and even if you disagree with the law if your a cop your still required to DO YOUR JOB. Instead you want to sit around and b*tch and moan that cops get no respect and civilians could care less when you get shot and killed. Well your right we could care less because your not cops your criminals hiding behind badges when you refuse to obey the law you swore to uphold because you “do not agree with it” Arrest ALL rpt ALL the people breaking the law and maybe that will change

More of DHS being intentionally piloted onto the shoals, the inmates are clearly running the asylum. This helps ensure that DHS will continue to be the perennial laughing stock among the national security agencies, although Justice lately is surely giving it a run for its money. The image of foxes and vixens guarding the chicken coup doesn’t even come close to capturing the depravity of it all. Where is the next appointee coming from, a NAMBLA member? I am glad I am retiring soon, but I fear the republic cannot take another couple of years of this…

Is it just me, or is Obomba running an affirmative action program for the incompetent?

Attorney General
Green Czar
Social Director

… are the first that come to mind. Not to wish harm to the First Family, but perhaps if the Salahi’s were successful infiltrators bent on harm, he would have gotten the point … or at least this problem would have been solved….

Thomas Paine on March 3, 2010 at 9:33 am

I agree obama is running an Affirmative action from the white house. All I have to say is if you thought W was bad then watch this current bonehead screw things up. But at least he speaks well…”yes we can”

Chuck on March 3, 2010 at 5:38 pm

Debbie,
Good article. You write what the newspapers don’t dare to.

Truth on March 3, 2010 at 10:14 am

Isn’t there an old “joke” along the lines of “when you can’t get a job anywhere else, you get a job with the government”?

When I did work (under contract) for the DOJ/BOP there was no finer example of this than the federal prison guards and “counselors”. These miscreants were dumb as bags of rocks. They could barely read, write, or speak. I copied various documents and signage I “acquired” because I knew no one would believe me… dorm cubicles routinely written up as “cubics”. Kitchen utensils written up as “spooms” and “baruls”. The “m” is not a typo… that’s how they pronounced it too “spooM”. Signs would say things like “Blue chair must be place in Cubic floors is wax”.

And these guys/gals get “promoted” regularly- hence, ultimately they become Police Chiefs, etc. based on their “distinguished” careers in “law enforcement” or “government service”.

This is so depressing my chest feels like it’s being crushed.

Cameron Reddy on March 3, 2010 at 11:36 am

I hope this Yiddish is used properly–a schmuck is elected President, schmuck then appoints other schmucks to fill important posts, those schmucks then appoint additional schmucks like this guy. Face it, the current administration is just a employment agency for schmucks that can’t work any place that requires an iota of intelligence.

Sean Jones on March 3, 2010 at 12:03 pm

Debbie,

Great job exposing this nonsense in this article. ICE is a joke and in real trouble with the poor managers they have heading up certain programs within the agency and other mid level managers at the HQ level. Should this Hurtt guy be hired as Director of ICE Office of State/Local Coordination, it further shows that ICE Asst Secretary Morton, DHS Secretary Napolitano, and the Obama Administration could actually give a $&#* about utilizing the 287(g) program to effectively fight the growing illegal immigration problem. Why bring on a Deput Director like Ms. Yom who has no virtually no law enforcement experience.

What the hell is ICE management thinking in bringing on a guy like Hurtt who has been an outspoken critic of immigration enforcement? Shows where the ICE managements head is, in the toilet

By the way, I heard something funny today that your site was blocked on the internet at ICE HQ in DC today. Nothing like ICE management trying to avoid more negative publicity and bad press. Makes me wonder why they would do that. Heard other rumors this Hurtt guy was gonna get the job without even being interview, kind of like a political appointee. What ever happened to civil service rules? All of you reading thsi site should be contacting your elected reps and asking why they dont put someone in this position who is pro-law enforcement..

ICEBlow on March 3, 2010 at 6:18 pm

In all fairness to the departed, unemployed HPD Chief, he possibly didn’t want valuable manpower taken off the crime-ridden streets of Houston in order to do the job of an ICE Agent.
The 287G Program is a big hoax, more like a bait and switch sales scam. ICE first gains access to the county and city jails, then cons the locals into cross training their officers under 287G, then all the ICE agents go off for a long lunch, only returning when it’s time to pick up the reports so they can pad their monthly stats and impress ICE HQ.
Hurt didn’t want to waste valuable police officers in a city jail 287G program, when most all of the city prisoners get transferred to county jail within 3 days anyway.
NOBODY in Federal law enforcement wants to get stuck working in the local jails, so they get the locals to do their job for them. What’s next State Troopers as Border Patrol agents?

Straight-up, Hold the ICE on March 3, 2010 at 7:45 pm

Seems that Obama has surrounded himself with a disproportionate number of incompetent liberal blacks. I think he is a racist. Holder is a joke. So are most of his “Czars” as is Napolitano. I think Obama will wind up being worse than Carter.

Samoyed on March 3, 2010 at 11:08 pm

ICEBlow’s comment shows that cronysm, misfeasance, and malfeasance are the order of the day at BICE. Straight-up, Hold the ICE’s remark proves the “eight and skate” mentality of those parasites with bankers’ hours, but don’t bother to send your State Troopers to the border, please.
