In Observance of Last of Jewish Holidays

By
To my readers and friends:
Yup, these Jewish holidays are killing me. Or at least my blogging. That, coupled with mourning for my Dad for a week. All good reasons and more important priorities.
Beginning tonight at sundown and continuing until Friday Night, the last of the Jewish holidays happens. (I swear I’m not making these holidays up.) So, I’m out of blogging commission once again until Monday. I have a few things I’ve written in advance to be posted while I’m gone, including my regularly posted movie reviews on Friday. Stay tuned.
And see ya Monday, when I’ll finally be back full-time, full force, full week on this site. Thanks for your continued readership and moral support despite my absences.

Debbie, I’m sure everybody knows that it’s Simchat Torah tomorrow night. I don’t celebrate all the holidays like you do, but I celebrate every time the IDF bombs the **** out of someone, and take it as a sign of the coming of Moshiach.

Don’t be too sure that everybody knows about Simchat Torah (I surely don’t!). Even so, we will be waiting for your right here, Debbie, so please come back soon.

Debbie, the holidays provide rest, reflection and rejuvination. You don’t have to worry about not having material out on the holiday. When you return you will have extra energy and inspiration. Let the holidays work for you.

Sorry to be a whiney fan, but I miss your “jewish holidays for dummies” posts about the specifics of the holidays

Debbie, you really should consider making aliyah. The main reason my husband and I did is so that we only have to celebrate single day yom tovim! Well, there is always Rosh Hoshanah, which is two days here as well as in the diaspora, and it fell against shabbat this year so we had a three day yom tov. Horrors! It’s a rare event here, but commonplace in the diaspora. The rest of the year of one day yom tovim is worth the occasional RH + shabbat thing.
Anyhoo . . . just food for thought. 🙂 Oh, and as you know, Shemeni Atzeret and Simchat Torah are rolled into one day here! Yeah boy!
