“Kevin,” “Gail” & “James”: The Terrorist Assassination Movie I’d Like to See

By Debbie Schlussel

My favorite terrorist assassination story of the last month is the hit on HAMAS leader Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh a/k/a Mahmoud Abdel-Raouf Mohammed Hassan a/k/a “Abu Abed,” who was staying in Dubai.  You know, “moderate” Dubai, where Mabhouh was a welcome and honored guest.  While no-one knows for sure who did it, everyone suspects–and I believe it’s correct–that the Israelis did it.  I mean, not Israelis, but “Kevin,” “James,” “Gail,” and eight others who held passports from European countries–Britain, Ireland, France, and Germany.

On the other hand, two Palestinians were already arrested in connection with the assassination, so it could be a Fatah/Mahmoud Abbas operation (when he’s not busy trying to put out fires of sex tape scandals) or even an inside job within HAMAS.  And Dubai’s Keystone Kop police chief, Lt. Gen Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, backed off on claiming Israel’s involvement, though he said the tactics resembled Israeli intelligence at work.

The Britons were identified as James Leonard Clarke, Stephen Daniel Hodes, Paul John Keeley, Michael Lawrence Barney, Jonathan Lewis Graham, Melvyn Adam Milliner.

The woman had Irish papers and was named as Gail Folliard. The other Irish were named as Kevin Daveron and Evan Dennings.

As a dear friend of mine, who used to work with Israeli intelligence says:

Good luck in catching them. In your dreams.

I love it!  Now, that’s a movie I’d love to see, except that we’ve seen what happens when Hollywood gets ahold of these stories.  When Abu Spielberg, er . . . Steven Spielberg “told” the Munich story, he portrayed brave Mossad agents, who snuffed out the Islamic terrorists who planned and perpetrated the massacre of the Israeli athletes, as softy crybabies who regretted that they killed these cold-blooded murderers.  In a Spielberg or Hollywood vehicle, “Kevin,” “James,” and “Gail,” would be crying to Dr. Phil and Oprah over assassinating this top HAMAS terrorist figure.  We’d probably see Gail wearing her black wig forever as self-flagellating punishment for her horrible deed of eliminating this terrorist cretin and telling us that he goes #1 and #2 to the bathroom just like all of “allah’s” creatures.  Yup, that’s how they’d portray this in Lalaland.

And, actually, we already have the movie.  Surveillance cameras captured on closed circuit TV the movements of “Kevin,” “James,” “Gail” (the chick in the operation–black wig) and eight others, who skillfully carried out the assassination and escaped the joke known as “Dubai police.” The video shows them arriving in Dubai and checking into their various hotels and room, including a room across from Mabhouh’s room, where they carried out their  hit.  Notice that for most of this, they’re wearing hats, so their faces aren’t very visible, except at the hotel check-in.  It was a clean operation–in and out in 24 hours and their target on sent well on his way to the 72 revirginized.

More about Mabhouh:

Some of the suspects donned wigs and posed as tennis-racket-toting tourists and hotel staff. The suspects checked into different hotels, paying cash. Several suspects eventually checked into a room across the hall from their victim at a hotel near the airport, according to the police.

Gen. Tamim said Dubai police had arrested two Palestinians in the city-state in connection with the murder. He said the two may have provided logistical assistance to the suspects.

The suspects haven’t made any public statements. . . .

Forensic tests indicate Mr. Mabhouh died of suffocation, but that lab analysis was continuing.

Mr. Mabhouh, 50 years old, was found dead in his Dubai hotel room on Jan. 20. He was a top Hamas operative. Current and former Israeli security officials called him a key link in smuggling operations ferrying Iranian weapons to the group in the Gaza Strip.

And, by the way, the Israelis ID’s Mabhouh after he did an Al-Jazeera interview:

Top Hamas operative Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was identified and killed following an interview he gave to Al-Jazeera on instructions from the movement’s leadership in Syria, according to a Fatah-affiliated news agency.

The interview with Mabhouh was conducted against his will and against the advice of his colleagues in the armed wing of Hamas, Izzadin Kassam, the agency said.

The Palpress news agency said it did not rule out the possibility that the killing was an “inside job.”

“Did he know too many secrets and that’s why they decided to get rid of him?” the agency asked. “Perhaps he knew about the weapons convoy [to Hamas] that was destroyed by Israel about a year ago?”

Although the Hamas operative appeared masked in the interview and was only identified by his nom de guerre, Abu Abed, Israeli security authorities were able to identify him and later track him down, according to the report.

Carl in Jerusalem has further coverage of the story. Check it out.

Every time one of these scumbags gets taken out, the Pavlovian response in the region is to blame Israel’s Mossad. Mind you, I expect Israeli intelligence enjoys watching their enemy constantly looking over their shoulder, fearing Israel’s long reach, even where they don’t merit credit. But I think this one was a Palestinian operation.

As I’ve argued elsewhere, Mabhouh was in a dangerous business where the line between ally and blood enemy can be quite fluid. Over the years he’s made a lot of enemies, and no doubt carries many secrets. Lots of folks wanted him dead.

The Mossad also tends to rely on small teams (cf. Ross’ “The Volunteer” and Raviv’s “Every Spy a Prince”); and the notion of including Palestinian operatives (one of the suspects works for PA Intelligence) is ludicrous.

R: You may be right. I also can’t see the Israelis involving Palestinians, but stranger things have happened. Israel has a patchwork of allies in the spy biz whom you’d never suspect. Also, I can’t imagine Palestinians carrying this out so beautifully and flawlessly. They’re just not that competent. DS

“Michael Lawrence Barney, Paul John Keeley, Jonathan Lewis Graham”. Oh man. those names crack me up. But how did the Dubai authorities get photos of the guys they are supposedly looking for?

I would make a terrible spy.

Looking for a name for this movie?
How about:-
” The magnificent 11 #2″ ???…

Alexander Münch on February 16, 2010 at 3:32 pm

Barney, Clarke, Hodes, Keeley, Graham, Mildiner???

Excuse me, but are those real names? And, if so, why don’t any of them appear to be Jews? Would the Mossad use a non-Jewish hit squad? It makes no sense to me.

yonason on February 16, 2010 at 4:33 pm

They would be fake names with matching fake passports. Jews with fake non-Jewish identities, perhaps.

FYI. 7 of the so called “abu abed” hit squad, are certain Israelis.. trust me, living in Israel for almost 20 years gives me a nudge knowing, and I always tell who’s Israeli even when traveling abroad. and secondly, why would you care ? this man is responsible for over 24 deaths of innocent people, and that’s just the deaths that the Israeli government knows about, including the abduction and torture of two Israeli soldiers at the first intifada. I can however say for sure that the rest of the hit squad is most certainly not israeli, which makes it obvious that that Mossad has operatives outside of Israel with HQ and safe havens across the globe.. way to go..

“Several suspects eventually checked into a room across the hall from their victim at a hotel near the airport, according to the police”

Inside help at the Hotel, you don’t just happen to get a room on the same floor as your target in a large luxury hotel, 640 suites at the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel in Dubai.

Intel was spot on from date, time and arrival in Dubai.

WAY TO GO MOSSAD !

It was an awsome job. After the failing of killing Khaled Mashaal in Jordan and other things, inprovising is a good thing. You did not figure it out for I already did. VIVA ISRAEL AND THE U.S.A.

MAY be not the latest when it comes to eleminate terror and the extreme Islam, but I hope it will be start of their end.

I saw a story on the news about this–what a great day!

There is something that you might want to factor in….maybe Dubai was involved in the hit. They facilitated that the hit squad could get in and out of the country with no issues; were able to get a room across from the target; and they knew who this man was and did not protect him because no country was a high profile murder. So it is quite likely that Dubai gave passive cooperation and let someone else get on with it…and then a month later they can get on the TV and tell all of their brother Arabs that they are looking for the killers when in fact they couldn’t care less but have to keep up appearances.

Remember, when the IDF bomber the Iraqi nuclear facility back in the early 1980s they overflew several Arab nations and it is likely that they gave tacit approval (perhaps goaded by the U.S.) to allow it because no one truly trusted the idea of a nuclear Iraq under Saddam. Again, loyalty and betrayal in the Middle East is just “a kiss away.”

Who ever did it (and I believe it was Israel), God Bless them.
Remember that Israel used an American Jew living in Israel named “Cindy” to lure traitor Mordecai Vanunu to his capture.

Gail Folliard is really good looking, wonder if she is single?
