And Now, Trains: Passenger Threatens Train, Mentions Al-Qaeda, Uses Blanket to Hide

By Debbie Schlussel

Well, now that we’ve had three months of Muslim passengers behaving suspiciously and threatening safety on planes, it’s suddenly the same on trains.  Not 100% sure if this guy is Muslim for certain and whether or not he converted to Islam in prison, but it’s definitely a likelihood on both counts.  And what the heck was he doing under the blanket?  Are we going to have to outlaw everyone from bringing a blanket on trains?  If we don’t want to profile and instead let these people win by the constant, escalating inconvenience that they cause to every innocent, law-abiding American.

Ojore Nuru Lutalo: Threatened Train, Mentioned Al-Qaeda

An Amtrak passenger who alarmed fellow passengers in Colorado by talking about terrorist threats on a cell phone was pulled from the train and faces a felony charge of endangering public transportation.

Ojore Nuru Lutalo, 64, who was recently released from prison, was arrested Tuesday on an Amtrak passage from Los Angeles to Chicago. Passengers on the train alerted authorities after hearing the man from Elizabeth, N.J., mention al-Qaida and make threats in a cell phone conversation.

Police said in an affidavit that passengers overheard Lutalo saying he hadn’t killed anyone yet, and that he talked about going to jail.

Passengers say the man said, “We have to work in small groups. They can hold you for 18 months. Do they have security on these trains? Are you with me or not?”

One passenger said he heard Lutalo mention al-Qaida, saying, “17th century tactics won’t work, we have 21st century tactics.”

The conductor said Lutalo had a tan blanket over his entire body so the conductor could not see what he was doing.

Lutalo was taken into custody at the La Junta train station in southeastern Colorado. Police said he was not armed or carrying explosives. He was carrying propaganda for an anarchist group called Afrikan Liberation Army.

Lutalo was released Thursday night after posting $30,000 bond, said Otero Country sheriff Chris Johnson. Lutalo’s next court date in Otero County District Court is Feb. 5.

They released this guy on bond?! HUH?!

Lutalo was released in August from a New Jersey prison after a 27-year term for aggravated assault, robbery and two counts of weapons possession. New Jersey authorities said Lutalo has also used the name Leroy Bunting.

And the name Mohammed Baba Ganouche. Okay, I made that one up. But might as well be. How intolerant of me to object to a guy talking about train security, Al-Qaeda, and then trying to obscure his actions from view.

It’s not right to judge. Diversity and tolerance trump all.

After having served 27 years in prison, this person was allowed to walk away after posting bond for a new offense? Do people understand what a flight risk is? Also, did anyone think that having the FBI look at the matter might be appropriate, especially since his cell phone still contained the numbers of the people he shared his violent thoughts with?

Al Qaeda learns fast, I’ll give them that. They don’t have to blow up a thing. Just play mind games like this and the federal government will do the rest.

These incidents are a horrible distraction and increase the costs of travel. In terms of the long term damage done, a large body count is simply icing on the cake for Islamists.

Terrorists (Muslims?) blew up a train in Russia recently. They did not even need to buy a ticket but placed a bomb on the tracks. About 20 years ago a man sabotaged track in Arizona and there was an accident. You can’t fence in and guard thousands of miles of track. Amtrak goes by my house twice a day and we once had someone commit suicide by lying on the track. The rail system is very vulnerable and passengers are only half of it. Screening them and restricting their passage is pointless without securing the rails. It would be like putting a security checkpoint next to a wide open door that nobody watches. I do ride Amtrak frequently and it has crossed my mind a few times. Still, we experience far less stress riding the train than flying nowadays.

I fear that such a sense of security will be a thing of the past. Also, it seems that the defenders of Zinn and Salinger are more concerned with the reputations of their dead idols, rather than with the violent deaths of people due to terrorism. Their passions are otherwise engaged.

I’m sorry to see that this guy had no injuries, judging from the picture. I would think that an individual like this would have to be subdued by somebody so they wouldn’t leave the area as someone must affect a citizens arrest for a felony!
I am glad that he was inconvenienced for a bit and had to bail himself out. But big damn deal. He can still act on his terror plot. Thank goodness we’re all safe with B.0. at the wheel.
The mid terms can’t come soon enough.

Never forget that your blanket can protect you from all harm. Ask any toddler about that. 😉

Mr. Lutalo was subjected to 10 minutes of intense interrogation by the train’s conductor and a clerk from Homeland Security who was on the train at the time. Lutalo was issued food stamps and a ticket for public skulking and released on his own recognizance.

The Justice Department announced today that he will be tried in Traffic Court on September 12.

Sorry folks, but

AL-QAEDA IS THE CIA WORKING FOR GLOBAL BANKS TO IMPOSE THE NEW WORLD ORDER!

Porozo the bozo writes another gem. You must be another Ron Paul nut. I only hope that you actually aren’t a U.S. citizen.

I don’t know why any African American would be Muslim? Muslims (Saudis) have taken over 50,000 Africans as slaves in the last ten years. Muslims are the biggest slave runners in history.

Truth on January 30, 2010 at 9:49 am

Ah, but Truth, I expect that few blacks know anything about the history of slavery in Islam and particularly that Muslims were the chief source of black slaves to the world since Mo made up Islam.

Islam really is a racist cult. After all, Mo says that black Muslims will turn white before they enter Paradise.

they become muslims because -like them islam is anti american, anti white/euro and is full of violence which they identify with !!! they don’t believe in turn the other cheek

Nuke Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Israel, Libya, Palestine, Turkey, and get the hell out of the Middle East. It’s always been a problem area with problem children, so why should OUR best and brightest lay down their lives in that hell hole? Yep, nuke even the Israelis, too. Sorry, but they’re just as caught up in the whole Arab versus Jew thing, too. Each side wants us to believe that there’s a God in the first place, whether he is descended from one brother or the other. Puh-leeze! A guy walked on water? He rose from the dead? Mohammad conquered his enemeies because God was on his side? It’s illegal to draw a picture of Mohamad? Stoopid people tricks that what all that is.

koolkatkalifornia on January 30, 2010 at 11:10 pm

Do you act this way in real life, or do you just spout off insanely on websites? We are having a serious discussion about a troubling incident. Keep the genocidal idiocy to yourself. It is unwelcome.

    Worry01 on February 1, 2010 at 6:41 am

As the number of these “isolated” events mount up the citizens are going to start acting on their own. Where is the video of this guy? We all need to carry. At least video. There hasn’t been any report of Homeland Security succeeding at anything in a while but the prisoners released from muslim indoctrination continue to plague our lives. It is only going to get worse. And worse. Mockery of some guy wearing a blanket, on video, works as good as anything if you don’t want to take physical action.

SenatorMark4 on January 31, 2010 at 11:35 am

What on earth were the authorities thinking letting a guy who was just released from prison after 27 YEARS on a violent felony conviction (who must either be on parole or else served his entire sentence – which means he must REALLY be a violent guy) out on bond, and who on earth posted $30K for his bond??? Where would a guy just released from prison get his hands on $30K? There are a LOT of details here that need to be examined, but the biggest one is WHAT were the authorities thinking??? And where did the guy go when he was released? Do you really think he’ll show up for his court dates in Colorado?

I know of this group the Afrikan Liberation Army. They’re Marxist and supposedly the Military arm of The Republic of New Africa, here is the Wikipedia page, http://is.gd/7quPK. Most members are Muslims and or have criminal records, This clown’s name is also made up, as his English sounding name would be his ‘slave’ name to be cast off. If they had a search warrant for his dwelling, they would likely find illegal arms and explosives.

I am so afraid for these wannabee terrorists. I am afraid passengers on planes, trains and boats are just going to begin beating them to death on the spot if they feel threatened. Wouldn’t that be just terrible?
