Happy 25th Anniversary, Diet Coke!

By
Twenty-five years ago today a revolutionary soft drink was introduced to the market. Today, Diet Coke turns 25 and counts many prominent Americans among its loyal consumers. It allowed for a semi-Coke taste without the calories. Today it is the most popular diet soft drink in the world.
But many Americans are now Diet Coke addicts. Many continue to debate whether it’s safe to drink so much artifical sweetener–Diet Coke uses aspartame. Yet, when it was introduced, Nutrasweet (the commercial name for the particular aspartame in Diet Coke) was the most tested substance. And it’s not like anyone forces you to drink. Diet Coke comes in many varieties, from caffiene-free to cherry to cherry vanilla and several other flavors. In March, Coca-Cola introduced Diet Coke Plus with vitamins. And now experts debate whether you can really absorb or be helped by vitamins contained in a diet soda drink.

Still, I’m one of the many Diet Coke consumers who like the product and ingest from time to time (I’m no addict). And I’m happy it was introduced. Happy 25th, Diet Coke.
I note that, while there are many famous Diet Coke addicts (Newsweek recently did an article on them), the most clever is Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Chieftess Not that she’s generally very clever (she’s not), but she manages to force ICE agents to , at ever city in America she visits. While The ICE Princess and her well-connected husband make a combined income plus benefits package of over $500,000 per year, paid for by taxpayers, agents have been required to buy her the trove of Diet Coke. (Since she thinks she’s a rock star, she apparently believes she should get all the trappings contained in a rock star rider.)
I’m reminded of the anti-Semitic phrases signifying cheapness: “She Jewed me down,” or “You’re such a Jew.” Both of them should certainly be changed to “She Julie’d me down,” or “Don’t be such a Julie.”

Debbie,
Might want to check your facts on this one (if you care about being accurate that is).
Assistant Secretary Meyers has visited my city on two occasions now, and we never provided her with the first free Diet Coke.
Maybe she visited us after Detroit, and perhaps she changed her routine after you reported on the Detroit incident, but it’s never happened here.

ICE LAPDOG:
I HAVE, INDEED, CHECKED MY FACTS, AND I AM 100% CORRECT. ONE FACT INCLUDES THAT I’VE TRACED YOUR COMMENTS TO YOUR HOME DOWN SOUTH NEAR AN ICE RESIDENT AGENT IN CHARGE (RAIC) OFFICE AND TO YOUR OFFICE, MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THE DAY. ANOTHER FACT, THOUGH, THAT I’D LOVE TO LOOK INTO MORE IS HOW YOU HAVE SO MUCH TIME TO COMMENT ON MY SITE DURING THE WORK DAY FROM YOUR ICE RAIC OFFICE DOWN SOUTH. THE ONLY REASON THAT COULD BE, IS THAT YOU’RE NOT DOING YOUR JOB AS AN ICE AGENT AND THAT ICE OFFICIALS LIKE THE ICE PRINCESS AND PEPPERMINT PATTY HAVE GIVEN YOU AS YOUR FULL-TIME DUTY THE MONITORING OF THIS SITE AND POSTING LIE-FILLED, KOOL-AID INGESTED COMMENTS ON IT. OR IT COULD BE THAT YOU’VE ALREADY COMPLETED YOUR JOB AND THAT 20 MILLION ILLEGAL ALIENS HAVE BEEN TRACKED DOWN AND DEPORTED, AND WE HAVE NO FURTHER USE FOR YOU. EITHER WAY, YOU ARE CLEARLY AN INCREDIBLE WASTE OF TAX DOLLARS. NO ICE AGENT SPENDS AS MUCH TIME DURING THE WORKDAY ON THIS SITE AS YOU DO. NOT ONLY HAVE I DONE MY HOMEWORK, BUT I WILL BE DOING MORE ON THIS. COUNT ON IT. FOR NOW, I KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND WHERE YOU LIVE AND WORK.

Debbie, I realize I will date myself severely by this comment as a “charter baby boomer”…but here goes: I grew up on Coca Cola. Back in the 50s when I could get a bottle at the local driving range after hitting several buckets of balls. The old red round-top Coke machine. Put in your DIME…!, push the handle down, open the little door and pull out a condensation-coated GLASS bottle of ice cold Coke. Stick the top in the bottle opener on the front of the machine and enjoy! Yes, those were the days. Gone forever. Have consumed lots of Cokes over the years. Decided a couple of years ago to severely limit my soft drink intake. Mainly, don’t like all that sugar. Secondly, after all, for years, we’ve known Coke (and most soft drinks, probably) will dissolve a nail placed in it over a few days. Probably not the best thing for my body, all those chemicals. From where I work, I have a good vantage point to see the occasional Carbonic Acid tanker arrive at the local Pepsi bottling plant. Um…don’t really want to ingest that stuff any more. Diet Coke indeed has Aspartame. Too many things have surfaced to cast serious doubt about it’s safety. No, I don’t fully trust the FDA when it says Nutrasweet is safe. They’ve screwed up before. My personal preference is to not drink Coke or other soft drinks, especially those (or anything) with NutraSweet. Just my personal opinion/belief/decision. FWIW. Appreciate you and your integrity.

EVS would not know about the Diet Coke extortion clause because he was too busy kissing the ICE Princess’s ass mining another promotion after he finishes his current assignment as Internet Propaganda minister for nepotist appointees.

Debbie,
The name is EverVigilantSheepdog. Get it right.
Your site promises anonynimity to those that choose to use an alias. Are you saying this promise is only for those that agree with you?
You say “ICE OFFICIALS LIKE THE ICE PRINCESS AND PEPPERMINT PATTY HAVE GIVEN YOU AS YOUR FULL-TIME DUTY THE MONITORING OF THIS SITE AND POSTING LIE-FILLED, KOOL-AID INGESTED COMMENTS ON IT.”
I’d ask you to point out one, just one “lie-filled kool-aid ingested comment”. All I’ve done is offer another perspective, and ask you to stop calling people names. Nobody, including the A/S or Director of Investigations asked me to do this, or for my knowledge, even know that I am. I don’t take direction from anyone in these posts.
I have spent quite a bit of time on your site once I started back in early June. You see, evereyone that agrees with you has a lot of company to throw rocks and bottles at me, but I’m almost a singular voice on here. So I check in quite frequently in order to keep up.
So if you name me, it won’t stop me. It will give you a moment of pleasure, and the character assasination game can begin in earnest. Do you really think that will elevate the dialog? I don’t.
EVS
YOU CAN REST EASY THAT I WON’T BE NAMING OR OUTING YOU. I WANT PEOPLE TO FEEL COMFORTABLE TO POST HERE UNDER ANONYMOUS NAMES IF THEY WISH, EVEN YOU. THAT’S VERY IMPORTANT TO ME (UNLESS THEY SEND DEATH THREATS OR OTHER THREATS TO MY LIFE AND LIMB).

I quietly slipped an article under my roommates door about how diet sodas can make you impotent, he had gone to one of those doctors for shots that make your thing hard (before Viagra). He married shortly thereafter and has a family. I remember my other roommate when I called and asked about our former roommate, he said, “Oh yeah, he found some gal to get his thing working and blah, blah,….”
So there you are, drink diet soda all day long and see what that does to your love life.

Thank you DS! EVS has misrepresented his position and “inside” knowledge from his very first post. I agree with your decision not to further identify EVS. I’m sure his family greatly appreciates you having mercy on his sorry ass. EVS has every right to post his opinion but his lies and willful misrepresentation of facts concerning ICE have been disgusting and inexcusable. Only a moron would post on this blog from a government computer! So why does it not surprise me that EVS repeatedly posted on here from his ICE IP address? LOL
The sad part is that EVS is doing what most ICE agents are ordered to do; WASTE TAXPAYER MONEY
Instead of investigating terrorists and serious criminal violators, ICE agents are spending millions of dollars and thousands of man hours arresting meat packers. Most of those illegal aliens from Mexico & Central America were not criminally charged. The few that were subjects of federal criminal prosecution are looking at about 8 months confinement under the sentencing guidelines. How long has ICE been working Operation Wagon Train I-XXX ? ICE& EVS are jokes but radical Islam is no laughing matter. Thank you for your tireless efforts, DS.

J Leyn,
“EVS has misrepresented his position and “inside” knowledge from his very first post”
This is a bald faced lie, and unless you can back it up, you probably shouldn’t make statements like this, even under an alias.
I have NOT misrepresented my position or “inside knowledge” a single time on this blog. You may not agree with me, but to say I’ve misrepresented anything is factually incorrect.
“EVS has every right to post his opinion but his lies and willful misrepresentation of facts concerning ICE have been disgusting and inexcusable”
Lies and willful misrepresentation of facts? Again, be specific, because you sir are the liar for spewing such nonsense.
You just don’t like the fact that someone challenges the “vocal minority” on this website, that the sky is falling, and everything is terrible at ICE. Tough. Get over it, because I’m going to challenge you at every turn, to put up or shut up.
“Only a moron would post on this blog from a government computer”
I’m sure if Debbie wanted to inquire, she would find that a number of posts on her blog come from government computers.
Unlike you, I’m not afraid of the government or what they would/could do to me for using the internet at work, to respond to the “vocal minority” who would like nothing better than for ICE to disolve as an agency.
You see I still think ICE can become the strong/proud agency that U.S. Customs, Office of Investigations once was, and I’ll continue to believe that until and unless someone proves me wrong.
“The sad part is that EVS is doing what most ICE agents are ordered to do; WASTE TAXPAYER MONEY”.
I don’t think what I’m doing is wasting taxpayer money, as I can perform my duties, and spend a few minutes on here, “taking out the trash”, without missing a beat.
I like to think that ICE Special Agents that follow this site, and there are many, who aren’t disgruntled or retired on duty, appreciate someone fighting for them, and for the truth. In fact, I know this is the case, because a number of my close friends have correctly guessed that I am EVS, and have been very supportive of my quest to shed some light here.
In your last paragraph you referred to the Swift case. I wonder if you noted the arrests that occured yesterday at Swift locations? Federal criminal violations.
Worksite Enforcement is important if we are ever going to hold employers accountable for knowingly violating the law by hiring people illegaly present in our country. It’s not fighting terrorism I grant you, but Immigration is the first name of ICE, and if you don’t like it, you might want to seek employment elsewhere.
Thanks for giving me an opportunity to speak out, in support of the fine men and women that make up ICE.

EverVigilantSheepdog on July 12, 2007 at 6:11 am

EVS you are not only a delusion wannabe and resident moron, you are also an embarrassment to ICE/OI.
You have absolutely no idea what happened in Cactus, TX since your sorry ass was sitting in Biloxi jerking off as usual. ICE Worksite enforcement is a joke. SWIFT management has not and will not be charged. SWIFT followed the law. 30 agents were sent TDY to Amarillo and ended up arresting 7 illegals for minor social security violations. Those small fish will receive less than 12 months in prison. The operation was a total waste of taxpayer money and ICE resources.
BTW, EVS, this is the last time I want to hear you tell me or anyone else to find another job. Who the F*** do you think you are? You are a former Customs Patrol Officer who got a welfare promotion to Special Agent. You pretend to be somebody you ain’t while you jerk off on the internet all day. The group I am assigned to has more ICE agents than the entire state of Mississippi! And there are ten other groups in the office! EVS, you are a pitiful fool with absolutely no redeeming qualities. Have you no shame?
DS might not “out” you but there are many agents capable of pulling the trigger and putting your name in an email to marcy.forman@dhs.gov If you are so proud of mucking off on the internet all day, then perhaps Marcy needs to know who you are so she can put you in charge of an office that has more than a dozen agents in the entire state!
Time for EVS to STFU so the RAC/Biloxi doesn’t have to waste time finding another village idiot to wipe Marcy’s ass when she goes Casino hopping on the Mississippi gulf shore.

J Leyn on July 12, 2007 at 8:22 pm

J Leyn,
You don’t know who I am, you think I’m someone assigned to the RAC/Biloxi which doesn’t exist by the way smart guy (RAC/Jackson and RAC/Gulfport are the only two offices in Mississippi), and you think I’m afraid that you’ll tell Marcy Forman who you think I am?
You, my friend are delusional. I’ll say it again, and I’ll write real slow so maybe you can follow me: I don’t work in a RAC office in Mississippi. I have never been a Patrol Officer.
My contributions to the U.S. Customs Service, Office of Investigations and now ICE are many, but of course I won’t spell them out for you, for the obvious reasons. The people that know who I am, know this to be a fact. I really don’t care what you think.
So tell me, what would your eleven group office do about Illegal immigration? You don’t think taking the employers out of the equation is a worthwhile goal?
You think all these illegal aliens are flooding into our country to shop at Walmart, or go to the movies?
They are coming here for jobs, and the employers that knowingly hire illegals are the lure. Take away that incentive, and maybe we stop the flow. You got any better ideas, I’m sure everyone would like to here them.
But no, you’d rather insult me and our leadership, because it’s a lot easier, right?
I’ll not stoop to your level J. If you know who I am, get that email off to Marcy right away, OK?
