Ultimate Fighting Islamists & Israel-Haters?: Abu Dhabi Buys 10% of UFC

By Debbie Schlussel

Longtime readers know that I like boxing, fights, and that one of my guilty pleasures is watching a good martial arts movie.  Sometimes, since I can’t do that stuff to get out my own stress, I like watching those who do.  It’s a vicarious thing for the non-violent and physically tiny and powerless (i.e., me).

ufc

Look For a Burqa to Veil Islamic Gulf-State Owned UFC

So, it really bugs me that even something as viscerally American as UFC–the Ultimate Fighting Championship–is now 10% owned by an anti-Semitic Gulf state, which has a policy of travel apartheid and won’t let Jewish Israelis into its borders.  Yup, the UFC is now 10% owned by the sons of the late Sheikh Zayed Al-Nahyan, whose Zayed Center funded anti-Semitic, Holocaust-denying, anti-Israel, and 9/11 Truther speakers, authors, and books.

These Islamofascists are buying EVERYTHING.  Like I always say, remember the good old days . . . when the Japanese owned everything in America?

Flash Entertainment, an event management company owned by the Abu Dhabi government, bought a 10 percent stake in Zuffa LLC, owners of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and World Extreme Cagefighting as the sport grows in popularity.

Flash shares “our vision, passion, and enthusiasm for the UFC,” said Lorenzo J. Fertitta, UFC Chairman, in the PRNewswire statement today. “We are confident that this partnership will accelerate the worldwide growth of the UFC.”

Hmm . . . does UFC have a “vision, passion, and enthusiasm” for Judenrein like Abu Dhabi does?

Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates which is home to about 8 percent of the world’s oil supply, has embarked on an expansion and modernization plan as it looks to diversify away from its crude-driven economy. The government’s 2030 plan, devised in 2007, foresees the population growing to as much as 5 million from an estimated 1.6 million in 2008. The emirate hosted its first Formula One race in November. It is also building a branch of Paris’ Sorbonne University and Louvre and Guggenheim museums.

Uh, you can’t “modernize” if you are obsessed with ancient, backwoods Middle Eastern anti-Semitism, as UAE and Abu Dhabi are.  You can have all the fancy museums in the world, but if you don’t get rid of rabid anti-Semitism, you’re nothing more than savages with money and nice cars, which is essentially what the Gulf states are.

Wrestling is not new to the emirate. The Abu Dhabi Combat Club was created in 1998 by Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the son of the U.A.E.’s founder. The club spawned the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship, an international martial arts event.

More:

Ossama Khoreibi, Chairman of Flash Entertainment, commented, “Since our very first meeting, we were impressed by Lorenzo, Frank and Dana’s commitment to growing UFC as a global sport.” He continued, “Flash is equally committed to building Abu Dhabi’s profile as an international entertainment destination, and this partnership provides further proof of our company’s bold ambitions. We look forward to an exciting future ahead, working closely with our UFC partners to activate this sport in the UAE, the region and across the world.”

The Raine Group acted as financial advisor to Flash Entertainment. Goldman Sachs served as UFC’s financial advisor.

Um, FYI, Mr. Khoreibi, “global” means every country in the world, including Israel. There are many top Israeli martial arts champs. What happens when one of them earns the right to compete in the UAE, and Abu Dhabi won’t grant him a visa? Will UFC say nothing the way the entire international tennis community (except Andy Roddick) says nothing when Israeli tennis players are excluded?

It’s gonna happen. Bet on it.

I could see early on in the growth of the UFC/WCF that these guys were sellouts. They are predators who frankly are unaware of these kinds of issues. Even if they were they would likely table any principles when the money is waved in their faces. Not really surprising.

The act of grabbing and gobbling up investment opportunities is not the exclusive forte of Gulf States. In fact, I believe the great teachers of the world, Western Nations, are suffering backlash from their own creation; greed.

According to Israeli law, certain countries deemed enemy territory are banned to travel and citizens may even be prosecuted for defying the order. In addition, Israel imposes her own restrictions where visas are concerned.

You cannot support your position by adopting a specific argument against your opponents and removing it for your friends.

Duh, those banned from israel are terrorists or those who fit a profile with a likelihood of committing terrorist acts. Intelligence is the ability to make distinctions; Israeli athletes are not going to commit terrorist acts in Arab countries; the opposite is more likely true, that terrorists will try to attack them.

But you’re right that the Western nations have been responsible for the majority of the gains of civilization over the past centuries. No greed in the Muslim world though. Of course the Muslim rulers and the Russian rulers share their oil wealth with the less fortunate residents of their countries.

Duh, I did speak of foreigners entering Israel, I said within Israeli law, ISRAELI CITIZEN’s are banned from travelling to certain countries if they should want to, and it is THE ISRAEL GOVERNMENT that forbids them.
    See the difference?

With Muslims representing about 1/5 of the world, it’s interesting to note that no UFC contender exists from the Islamic world.

At least with Jews, they make up in intellect (Nobel Prizes) for lack of brawn.

It appears that Muslims are underrepresented in both of the above categories.

Israel – What the Left and Muslims Don’t Want Others to Know

JL: Actually, it’s a myth that Jews are all brain and no brawn. We are brain AND brain, from ancient times (such as the Maccabees) to date. I’ve written about many Jewish boxers and martial arts champs on this site, including undefeated boxer and krav maga champ, Ran Nakash.

Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent may be Super Welterweight Champ, rabbinical student, and Orthodox Jew Yuri Foreman.

I’m guessing you’ve never heard of the I.D.F. Israeli Defense Forces. I’ve been into martial arts most of my life and when I took some Commando Krav Maga, I realized I found a very difficult hybrid. The cardio alone was murder. Then there is the weapon disarms that leave you hurt and exhausted.
How about the Mossad? A country that size, surrounded by as many lunatics as it is, has to be tough.

Dancing with the devil never ends well.

First football gets taken over by the criminals.
Baseball gets the drugs.
Movies get uberliberal.
Just pisses me off.

What’s next? Videogames? Anime? Wrestling? I hope not.

I think the writer needs to do their homework before shooting from the lip. The “viscerally American” UFC would not exist for her pleasure if not for a couple of Brazilians/”furriners” (to put it in a context that will be understood).

Add to that the fact that out of four weight divisions, only one champion is American, one is a Hawaiian nationalist, two are Brazilian and one is French Canadian.

Nice “journalism”…

Peter on January 13, 2010 at 2:18 am

Just haven’t bought into MMA. It doesn’t seem like a sport like boxing. Muslims can own it.

CaliforniaScreaming on January 13, 2010 at 8:24 am

So, as the muslims take over this business, will they have large sharp knives and decapitate the losers? Why on earth would these people want to own any of this except to make sure that contestans are not permitted to make fun of the “religion of peace?”

Tpical jewish bullshit. I hope Iran and Israel nuke each other already.

Irony: you sound just as if not more racist than the people you’re calling racist (oops, i meant ***anti-semite***).

As much as I agree with your sentiments, I also believe that the best way to spread enlightenment is to engage with and do business with those who are in need of it. Perhaps when they begin to realize that they do not live in a financial bubble, and that their financial futures rely on not pissing off the rest of the world, they will take a path of enlightenment by way of self-interest.

Debbie, I wouldn’t worry about this buying up of American assets as much as all that. I remember when the Japanese bought up golf courses and other properties – it turned out that they had paid inflated prices, so, when there was a real estate adjustment, the Japanese took a financial bath. I suspect the Mideast investors will find they they have also bought less-than profitable assets.

Linda F on January 17, 2010 at 7:56 pm

Is it a problem of American assets being bought to foreign investors, or is it about ugly arabs envading us.
In both cases, it s totally racist.
And by the way I m jewish and i ve been to Abu Dhabi many times. which is not the case for many muslims who r denied entry to the US.

Jimmy on June 10, 2010 at 6:07 am

-I think that Israelis own and control the American policy by owning the biggest financial organizations and corporations.

-Arabs and muslims are semitic so how cam they be anti-semitic.

-Arabs and muslims do not deny Holocaust. But they think that it is much proper to focus on what war crimes Israelis do in the accupied Palestine
