Another Sign He Jumped the Shark: Jack Bauer Pimps Palestinian State & Iran
Sunday Night marks the debut of what is supposed to be the last season of “24.” As longtime readers know, I long ago lost interest in this show. It jumped the shark, and it’s grown tiresome to watch the stupid plot twists as writers and producers do a myriad of script contortions to avoid making Muslims the terrorists.
“PC 24” by David Lunde/Lundesigns
As I’ve noted, after the first few seasons, “24” went out of its way to make sure we knew that every Islamic terrorist is really just the puppet of the evil White man. Yup, even Jack Bauer’s father and bro were the terrorists. Because that’s more believable than a guy with a name like Mohammed Atta or Nidal Malik Hasan or Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab actually being the terrorist. That would never happen in real life, right? And I’ve noted how the “24” gang capitulated to CAIR and MPAC (Muslim Public Affairs Council), and had star Kiefer Sutherland read us some BS warning about how all American Muslims are peaceful and support our efforts in the war on terror. Uh-huh. Sure they do. He sounded like a trained monkey who didn’t really believe it, but wanted to collect his banana.
So, enter this season. The good guy in this one is an Islamic leader who is a peaceful man–a good guy, who out of the goodness of his decent heart supports a “two-state solution” a/k/a amputating Israel into a Palestinian State and out of existence. ‘Cuz ya know–at least in the minds of “24” writers and producers–that’s a “moderate,” “peaceful” thing to support. Blechhh. Didn’t we already see this plot on “24” just two seasons or so ago?
Even worse, I’m saddened to find out that the “Islamic leader” is played by one of my favorite foreign actors, Indian star Anil Kapoor, who played the host of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” in the 2008 hit movie, “Slumdog Millionaire.” (As a member of the Detroit Film Critics Society, I voted for Kapoor as Best Supporting Actor in 2008.) Say it ain’t so, Anil.
Oh, and by the way, this peaceful Mid-East Muslim leader is supposed to be a kinder, gentler Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He’s Prez of the “Islamic Republic,” usually a reference to Iran, and he’s ready to give up his nukes. Geez, Jack Bauer’s been doing too many mushrooms or crack. According to a blurb in US Magazine, there’s a plot to kill this “peace-seeking” Mid-East Muslim leader. Hmmm . . . I wonder if, for political correctness’ sake, they’ll make his would-be assassins Israeli.
More, from the Wall Street Journal’s TV critic, Dorothy Rabinowitz, who–while usually on the mark–long ago fell for the “24” propaganda show:
The crisis Jack addresses concerns the plot against a Middle Eastern head of state, in Washington to discuss his country’s nuclear capacities—and inspections thereof. Indeed, the president, Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones), identifies him as the president of the Islamic Republic. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is the figure clearly meant to pop into viewers’ minds, until it becomes obvious, quite soon, that this tall, handsome, swinging devotee of peace and humanity and even, as the president breathlessly explains, the two-state solution—is someone else. President Taylor is soon awash in devotion to this leader, Omar Hassan (played by Anil Kapoor). The writers of “24” are partial to the creation of dream-world paragons of idealism, like the noble president of the Islamic Republic ready to forget his country’s nuclear aims—ready, moreover, to give up everything in the interests of humanity and peace, his life included.
Kiefer Sutherland & Anil Kapoor on This Season’s “24”
It’s left to Jack Bauer—abetted by Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub), back in top form—whose mission it will be to thwart the assassins out to destroy this hero.
Oy. The 24 time clock can’t run out soon enough. Stick a fork in it, Jack Bauer. You and your PC show are long past done.

I knew it was just a matter of time. There was a series on Cinemax a few years ago “Sleeper Cell” which had a terrorist infiltrate the USA and pretend to a be a Sephardic Jew who even coached soccer. I heard good things about this series although, of course, the undercover cop was a Moslem. I guess the writers and producers are just too afraid and feel they have to have “balance”. Not so with a series such as “Big Love” which shows Mormons as crackpots. I don’t see too many Mormons threatening to blow up HBO as a protest. Don’t forget that after the Pope said that elements of Islam were violent, the Islamists disproved that by committing violent, heinous acts! This PC garbage is going to kill us.
