Bozo the Clown Drafted by NBA

By
In the most bizarre photo from yesterday’s NBA draft, Joakim Noah–dressed and looking like Bozo the Clown–was chosen by the Chicago Bills as the Number 9 pick overall.
Noah is the son of former tennis great Yannick Noah, a Frenchman from the Cameroon, of whom I was a fan (though when my Dad took me to see him play Jimmy Connors in an exhibition match in the ’80s, I rooted for both, as Connors is one of my favorite athletes of all time).

Debbie, how tall was his Dad? This kid is like 7 feet tall. How does that happen? Seriously. I’ve got an athlete struggling to make the NCAA Div I height requirement (it doesn’t matter how good you are, if you’re not X feet X inched tall you can kiss that school goodbye).
I WONDERED THE SAME THING. I DON’T REMEMBER YANNICK NOAH BEING THAT TALL. AND YOU’RE VERY CLOSE ON THE HEIGHT. JOAKIM NOAH IS 6’11”. YOU WONDER HOW THE EXCEPTIONS–LIKE THE RELATIVELY SHORT EARL BOYKINS–MADE IT.

Debbie-
I am shocked to hear you are a fan of Jimmy Connors. His tennis speaks for itself (brilliant until the end, even when he was ancient in relative terms). I lost all interest in being a fan of his when during a match with John Newcomb (the Aussie gentleman), “Jimbo” (I hated that stupid nickname) beated his mother (all caught on camera) during a break in the match, because she was unable to pull out a stick of gum on demand. The poor woman was feverishly digging in her purse while the tirade continued until Jimbo yelled out, “Oh, forget it Mom” in the tone that suggested she was worthless. The TV announcers were embarrassed (I certainly was) by the awful childish behavior. Connors is who he is; an upper middle class BRAT who was evidently abandoned by his father which equates to being a total jack ace. As I recall, ?Jimbo? would not sign tennis balls for his fans because ?I hate them?. The only guy I hated more for his on-court antics was McEnroe.
WOW, I HAD NO IDEA ABOUT THESE THINGS. I STAND CORRECTED. THANKS FOR ENLIGHTENING ME.

ESPN 404’d your page with his pic.
As for Jimmy, I too rooted for him. I even had a Wilson T2000. My Tennis coach hated it. She kept wanting me to play my composite (AMF Head), hated that racquet.

There’s something you don’t see everyday. A black guy who needs attention like an 8-year old.

Debbie, you should see his jump shot. It’s a real eye sore. I think playing with the other NBA caliber guys at Florida may have provided cover for some big deficiencies. The best you can hope for here is a Ben Wallace type guy, but he’s not that dominant.

At 6′ 11″ his sneakers probably look like clown shoes, too. As for his hair… I direct your attention to Anderson Verajao of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Not as long but just as goofy.
