Absurd: Israel Grants Terrorist Training Camp Faction Welcome Entry?

By
This tiny blurb from the front page of today’s Wall Street Journal certainly raised my eyebrows and should raise yours:

Abbas sought Israeli permission to bring a Palestinian unit in from Jordan to prepare for an expected West Bank showdown with HAMAS.

Uh, there is a “Palestinian unit” training in Jordan? The only Palestinian “units” training in Jordan are terrorists in terrorist training camps.
And, FYI, there’s no doubt Israel will let them in. How dumb is this? VERY dumb. Off the deep end.

Bruchim Haba’im [Welcome] to Israel, Fatah Terrorist

They’re letting in terrorist units from terrorist training camps (a/k/a refugee camps) into Israel, willingly? What is this–“Escape from New York“?
With all due apologies to Snake Plissken for the insulting comparison.

There is some obscure American General that has been sent to Jordan to train a security force for the PA. I forget his name. Neither the media or the White House speaks much of him because, as is rather obvious, his mission has been a total flop.
I’m very sketchy on the details here. Maybe you can help elaborate on what the U.S. was SUPPOSED to do.

Sounds like some good advice is finally being accepted and put into action.
Let them kill each other and allow Allah to sort them out.
If I had my way, I’d air drop AK-47s and ammo into Gaza. Once there is a winning side, either Hamas or Fatah, then they would get spanked. And, hopefully we will live up to Pres Bush’s promise to deal with the terrorists and help Israel dispatch and spank whoever is left.
The West Bank might be a bit more tricky because of the proximity and mixture of the non-Hamas and non-Fatah populations. But, yeah let ’em in and arm each and every one of those knuckleheads. After Allah has sorted them out, then the good guys come in and do a little spanking.
(Note: This theory is applicable for Iraq, as well.)

Debbie, I don’t know what’s going on over here. It is hard to believe our politicians can be both moronic and suicidal, and yet, at the end of the day, there is no other conclusion to be drawn. When Sharon decided to expel Jews from the land of Israel, I thought maybe he had a trick up his sleeve — maybe it was so that he could wage war on the Arabs of Gaza, and accomplish more that way. Maybe, in time, we would all see the bigger picture. If he did have such a trick up his sleeve, he either didn’t share it with Olmert, or Olmert refused to follow through on it. All I know is that I’m much wiser and more cynical now, and I no longer placate myself with delusions of “bigger pictures.” No, what you see is what you get, and it’s all pretty stupid and senseless and bad for the Jews.
The situation here is deplorable. Sometimes people are too dumb for democracy to be a good idea. In order to unseat Olmert, many MKs would have to give up their jobs in the process of dissolving party alliances, and they don’t want to do that. So they will keep up the old alliances in order to maintain the status quo in the government so that they can keep drawing a paycheck. The people have very little say in the matter. American olim are trying hard to push election reform, but the Israelis don’t get it, and we Americans are a minority over here so election reform will not happen unless and until we can convince Israelis that they desperately need it.
