In Observance of the Jewish Holiday of Shavuot/Pentecost
By
To my friends and readers, in observance of the Jewish holiday of Shavuot (also Shavuos and in English, “Pentecost”), I will be out of blog commission, Wednesday and Thursday. But I have written several posts which my webmaster will post for me.
To my Jewish friends and readers, Happy Shavuot. To my friends and readers who are not Jewish and want to learn about the holiday, go here and here. Basically, the holiday is a celebration of G-d giving the Torah and the Ten Commandments to the Jewish people. (It is also one of the three Jewish harvest festivals, from when Jewish societies were primarily agrarian in nature, long ago.) On the holiday, men traditionally stay up all night, the first night, in Bible study, and we eat dairy foods.
Also, I will post a few more things before I leave my computer for the holiday. Stay tuned.

Pentecost is also when the Holy Spirit came upon the Church. This officially put an end to the Law that was fulfilled by Jesus, the Jewish Messiah and Savior of the world.
