Immigration “Enforcement”?: ICE Creates Anti-Schlussel “Rumor Patrol”

By
How do you solve the problem of 20 million illegal aliens, including criminals and Islamic terrorists, currently residing in the great American abyss? If you’re Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), you spend significant resources responding to my website.
You know your billions of Homeland Security tax dollars, many of which are supposed to go to enforcing immigration and customs laws?
If you thought that’s where the money goes, think again. It seems ICE “leadership” is upset that this site continues to expose waste, malfeasance, and lack of immigration enforcement per policy at the highest levels of ICE. And they’re upset I’ve disclosed how the agency is now about to lose its Customs functions. So what do they do?

ICE Princess “Fights Illegal Aliens” w/ Anti-Schlussel Rumor Patrol

(Julie Myers Diet Coke by David Lunde/Lundesigns)

They start an anti-Schlussel “rumor patrol” and dedicate resources to it–your tax-paid law enforcement employees. Yesterday, ICE “leadership” sent out a memo to all ICE Deputy Special Agents in Charge nationwide, announcing a “new assignment” for all Special Agents in Charge offices: to “gather and debunk . . . rumors” that are “floating around” and, which ICE claims are “destructive . . . and counterproductive” to the agency.
It’s pretty clear that this time- and resource-wasting “new assignment” is directed at me and the hundreds and hundreds of concerned, patriotic ICE agents who let me know what is happening at their sinking agency. ICE knows that virtually all the agents in that agency read this site and find out more about what’s going on from it than they do from their lazy, do-nothing, incompetent, destructive and counterproductive leadership.
In addition, the memo asks ICE Deputy SAICs to dispel rumors to their workforce–ie., write memos and hold meetings with their agents about what I’ve written . . . instead of spending that time on actual law enforcement and immigration problems. They’re asked to enlist all agents in this “new assignment” which has no end date and is ongoing.
If ICE powers-that-be were truly interested in stopping the destruction and counterproductiveness, they’d not just read my site, but address the problems, which should include resignations from most of them.
But, instead, this agency–which should be focusing on stemming the tide of the illegal alien invasion (and enforcing customs laws)–is, instead, on a witch hunt to stop America from being informed of their incompetence. You should be angry that this ICE New McCarthyism (with all due apologies to the late Senator, who–unlike ICE “leadership”–actually cared about America and its national security) is where your tax dollars are going, instead of those law enforcement missions.
And if ICE were so convinced that the information I have posted is wrong–and it isn’t, and they know it–they’d respond to a single prss inquiry from me. They haven’t, and they won’t. They’re not interested in stemming “rumors” “destructive” to the agency. They’re interested in stemming truth about their destruction of “their” agency.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement? Nope. Instead, the most bloated, misdirected agency at DHS (and the competition is stiff) is now SSE–Stop Schlussel Enforcement.
Your tax dollars at work.

This sounds like Nixon and the Plumbers. They’re getting paranoid Debbie so you must be getting to them.

Like every other good socialist, marxist, communist politician the only thing that they truely excel at is C.Y.A.!! The leadership of organizations like ICE must crush all voices of truth and exposure of incompetence in order to justify their existence. There are so many people on this earth that have an insatiable thirst for power and money. They gravitate to these types of jobs to fill this void within themselves. Thanks Debbie for standing up for truth and against phonies!!

newinnewark on May 16, 2007 at 11:50 am

Thank God for the internet and bloggers like Debbie Schlussel using this wonderful tool to expose them.
ICE can fool some of the people some of the time and all of the people some of the time, but they can’t fool all of the people all of the time – not now, with the blogosphere.
Good luck with the um, “rumor patrol” (snigger)

justamomof4 on May 16, 2007 at 12:20 pm

Debbie, I have a theory about ICE. Maybe immigration rules are so impolitic and unenforceable that it makes sense to appoint a cute, incompetent hack who knows to keep things quiet. No use finding a real leader who would make waves enforcing policies that are going to change anyway. Also I saw “Rocky Balboa” and it was good like you said. I think his yuppie whiny son was miscast, though.

Since you’re now on a Government Watch List you should ask for a Rolex.
As you’re dealing with simpletons, why not start typing about “great results from ICE” and let ICE hold meetings to dispel the “great results from ICE” rumor and thereby actually tell the truth? Think of it as an “ICE Fool’s Day” gag. Unfortunately for us, “ICE Fool’s Day” is a daily event.

WOW!! Congratulations! Think they’ll hire me? I love reading your site!! This could be fun!

Debbie,
How fitting that, once again, I hear of another dog-and-pony witch hunt brought to you by the political fellatio paparazzi. Here I am, at the office, trying to get caught up on reports and I haven’t heard any rumblings about this latest debacle come down the pike. Of course, that’s nothing new around here.
I agree with Rich B’s comments…they’re getting nervous as a nun in church because they’re being seen for who they are. Reason why nothing gets done by them is because they spend the majority of their time buttsnorkling or creating more lies to cover the past ones.
One wonders how these dweebs get these positions…we have an old saying in this outfit:
F**k up, move up!

1shot1kill on May 16, 2007 at 3:00 pm

Should be “…nervous as a whore in church.”
(I had to clarify that for D(as in Dumbshit)*Rek so he can follow the conversation…poor misguided mope that he is!)

1shot1kill on May 16, 2007 at 3:04 pm

That explains why all the news paper clippings concerning the ICE debacle disappear daily from our bulletin board.
How about this new vacancy annoucement for other agency 1811’s to lateral over to ICE as 12’s? Sounds like the Mariel Boat Lift Exodus for law enforcement. How many air thiefs do you think we’re going to get stuck with as the other agencies dump their slugs?

CustomsKoolAid on May 16, 2007 at 3:27 pm

Keep up the pressure, Debbie. As the nonsense continues, your exposure of it is more and more wondrous!!
We’re lovin’ it on the line!!!

Just imagine the possibilities when the new recruits (as posted on their DHS employee recruitment “Expo” ad – “Sawsan.” ) ‘move up’ the department ladder.

We’ve recently been told that the critism posted on this website is a big part of the morale problem. We should refrain and everything will be ok. It’s nice to finally know what is really causing the morale problem.
BELIEVE ME, IF MY SITE WERE THE REASON FOR THE MORALE PROB AT ICE, THEY’D HAVE NO MORALE PROB. IT’S THE “LEADERSHIP” THAT IS THE PROBLEM. I’M JUST THE MESSENGER. NO ONE WEBSITE OR PERSON CAN TAKE DOWN THE MORALE OF AN ENTIRE GOVERNMENT AGENCY, UNLESS THAT PERSON IS AT THE TOP OF THAT AGENCY (OR PRETTY CLOSE TO IT). IF I TRULY BELIEVED MY SITE WAS THE PROBLEM, I’D STOP WRITING ABOUT ICE, PRONTO. BUT THAT’S SIMPLY NOT THE CASE.

Dear Debbie,
Oh, where to start. A good doctor will examine a patients symptons in order to determine what the cause or disease is. A good doctor will make all attempts to identify and TREAT the disease, not the symptons. It appears that ICE HQ does not want to know what the disease is.
Your website is not the problem. It is an open discussion by motivated and dedicated people about their fustrations with ICE. If ICE HQ wants to understand whats going on, then they have to be ready for a little history lesson.
Several years ago, the first ICE Chief Op Officer was in our office and was answering questions posed by agents. In response to one questions, the first ICE Chief Op knucklehead proudly exclaimed that HE was in fact the person that brokered the agreement giving our money laundering authority over to the FBI. The agent asking the questions was one of the nations foremost money laundering experts (my opinion), a great agent and overall nice guy. The former Chief Op jerk finished up with a snide comment about how the questioner would like DC. Shortly thereafter, that extremely competent agent left ICE. OUR LOSS!!!!!!!
As another example, a few years ago the previous ICE Asst Secretary was attending a “glad handing” meeting with our office management as rumors were swirling about concerning the raising of the threat level. As the previous Asst Secretary was walking around our office, the threat level was in fact raised for a few days. The DHS ICE Asst Secretary made absolutely no mention of it.
From that time on, experienced and seasoned agents have been bailing out. One senior manager in our office stated quite clearly that if no one was going to listen to her, her words of insight or advice no longer mattered, then it was time to leave. Qualified agents, one after another, moved on. The exodus of qualified agents began.
The situation never got any better. Current and retired agents started writing to their elected officials. Some testified before congressional hearings. Others went to the media and press. Government and private entity reports continued to report about the declining climate within ICE. Nothing ever changed.
The ICE HQ spin machine continues to say all is well and things are getting better. From an agents perspective, they are not.
One of the latest examples is the placing of ICE under Transportation and Immigration in a DHS recruitment post (not to mention the photos that adorn the top of the same poster).
We then get the ICE Success story memo. I read it with disgust. The memo seemed contrary to reality. Here are a few examples;
1. If ICE has acting G/S money, then why did several agents in my office act from 6 to 18 months with no AGS money? Most didnt get the job or even a thank you from the office’s upper management (except for a heartfelt thank you from the ASAC). As a follow up, why did it take so long to promote someone into an empty GS spot?
2. Why has it taken so long to re-write the handbook? After four years we only have two chapters. Don’t they have ‘word’ in HQ? I dont think the Declaration of Independance took that long and they used quills and parchment.
3. Why do we think the purchase of lights, sirens and radios is a success? That is law enforcement safety equipment that we should have had from the beginning.
4. Is there a plan to cross train veteran legacy agents?
5. What is the percentage breakdown between award money being handed out to the field as opposed to HQ people?
And now, we have a “rumor debunker” memo. If that job is like Ensign Pulver’s ‘laundry and morale officer’, then tell me where to apply.
The only thing agents want is straight answers and a meaningful job. Management in our office does not communicate with the workers. They do not interact with the agents, they do not walk around to say hello or offer a “how you doing”. There is no mechanism for communication between the troops and upper management or HQ.
Debbie, your website is not the problem. It is an open forum for intelligent discussion about how loyal and dedicated agents are fustrated by the apathy exhibited by ICE management. If they want to know whats going on, the grab a cup of coffee, walk around the office and ask us. As someone once told me, “intelligent conversation between individuals should be encouraged.”

ICEDover on May 16, 2007 at 9:47 pm

First off, let me say that I do believe that a law enforcement agency should be led by experienced law enforcment personnel. I do not believe we currently have that at ICE. That being said, not all ICE offices are the bottomless pits of hell that are being described by some of the people posting on this site. I for one have not had time in the last five years to sit around and ponder how miserable the situation is. I have been busy working cases (yes, immigration cases), and doing the job the taxpayers pay me to do. So I find it hard to believe when some guys (or gals) complain they can’t do their job. I am in a large office, so maybe things are different in the smaller offices.
But it is the observation of this ICE agent that much of the problem with morale is the constant complaining of a few individuals who wish they could turn back time and save their precious US Customs Service. Give it up guys, its gone. And Debbie, I question the accuracy of some of the information you are posting. I guess time will tell how accurate it is.
For those of you looking for a “meaningful job”, there are plenty of state and local agencies needing people. Good luck finding one that doesn’t have a lot of the same problems ICE has.

lsellers on May 16, 2007 at 10:41 pm

ICEDover hits the nail right on the head. The problem is not the legacy I or C agents, the problem is MANAGEMENT! From DSACs up to HQ, managers are not making themselves known to the agents. The only time we see our SAC is when he’s being led around by his kiss ass ASAC who then proceeds to introduce him to whatever group he is talking to. LIKE WE DON’T KNOW WHO THE HELL HE IS!!
That 7 page success memo is simply the icing on the cake. Like ICEDover says, the acting GS’es are NOT getting GS pay while they are acting. They get reamed after 120 days and switched out with another acting. Then they get placed back into the acting spot for another 120 days. And the new cars with police packages?!?!?! They all went to ASACs, DSACs and the SAC!!!!! I have not seen one friggin’ agent driving one of the new cars! Why should any ASAC and above get a new car? They do not go into the field. They use these strictly for home-to-work and the occassional meeting with other agencies.
We also have agents horribly miscast with their assignments. Computer geeks that are with gangs. Door busters that are doing Port investigations cases. No one is asked where they’d like to be assigned. They are simply assigned and if you got a problem with it, oh well, that’s your tough luck.
And the most hilarious thing that has happened recently, was the new raid clothes issued. Sand colored pants for all. I realize Southern Cali is a desert, but come on! Hows about blue pants?
But the ladies had it worse – raid t-shirts that read ICE POLICE in pink lettering!
Our computer capabilities are not as good as they should be. We have one digital camera assigned to each group. JUST ONE! And if you need to upload the photos, well, you gots to find a computer that has the software already loaded into it. They trust us with guns and spray and the transport of bodies, drugs and money, but they will not allow us to download needed software on our work computers! What a crock of crap!
Training is non-existent. We get more on-line training, like computer security, EEO and the like, instead of good, job related training.
We are losing veteran agents on both sides because the SAC, DSAC and some certain ASACs are more interested in padding their pension and achieving their SES core requirements instead of accomplishing the mission, whatever the hell our mission is.
Thank god I am in the boonies and not at the SAC office. At least in the boonies I can get my job done without having to see all that crap happen from up close.

But hey, it could be worse, OPR could be in charge. Debbie, you seen this fiasco? Here’s the link: http://www.departmentofhomelandsecurityexposed.com

rivfedup on May 17, 2007 at 2:55 am

Here’s some interesting information …
I have heard from some of my colleagues in a major SAC office that senior management has warned subordinates that “rumor mongering” would no longer be tolerated, and that those even implicated in perpetrating or perpetuating information that they (senior managers) deemed false would be “put on the beach” (i.e. suspended without pay). Furthermore, in an attempt to intimidate what ICE senior managers view as “rogue” elements within the ranks, ANY perceived administrative violation (e.g. ALLEGED misuse of G-ride, ALLEGED evidence mishahdling, ALLEGED time and attendance violations, etc. (note the word ALLEGED here) are now being dealt with by having the targeted employee escorted out of the SAC office in full view and parade of his or her colleagues.
With regards to a previous poster’s doubts about the information being provided by legacy USCS agents, well, the old adage is: If it looks, waddles and quacks like a duck, it’s probably a duck. No, the information isn’t faulty – it is REALLY happening, and we are quickly becoming what legacy INS was: STYLE OVER SUBSTANCE, with NO tolerance for even managed risk, which is CRITICAL in dealing with CRIMINAL elements (I guess if you write up A-files all day, you don’t have to worry TOO much about this, since the lawyers control your every move, anyway).
If ICE REALLY wants rumor control, it might start with the following:
1. Telling agents what the REAL mission is and define it WELL; let agents make the decision if they want to stay or not.
2. Telling agents the TRUTH about what is going on with ICE and what our future REALLY is. C’mon Julie, John and Marcy – We’re big boys and girls, we can take it !!!
3. Finally, treating employees with RESPECT and as a VALUED component of the operation, instead of as EXPENDABLE trash. Seriously, what employee is going to WANT to take a chance on pushing the envelope with criminal elements if all management is going to do is hang you out to dry if it goes bad? NOT I, THAT’S FOR SURE !!! Not with a wife and children and bills to pay every month.
Well, they say one reaps what they sow, and what ICE management has done is to plant a bad seed that will yield a bitter harvest. So America, when you’re overrun with illegal drugs, money, weapons and Mohammed is your boss, just remember -ICE agents TRIED to do their jobs, and got nipped in the ‘nads for doing it.

4EVERCUSTOMS on May 17, 2007 at 9:18 am

Marcy built this stupid rumor patrol on the assumption that all of her senior managers are on board with her . . . . HHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!

AynaydaPizaqvick on May 17, 2007 at 1:34 pm

If what 4EVERCUSTOMS says is true, then the ICE Princess has got OPR and BFF Traci Lembke in bed with her (figuratively speaking of course. I don’t even want that image in my head). I see a lot of lawsuits covering the first amendment coming down the pike if that is the case.

rivfedup on May 17, 2007 at 3:10 pm

Ha…ha..ha…it blows ALL over the place. Us instructors at the Academy now need to submit to the Section Chiefs a written request to swap classes. Pretty soon we’ll need to submit an op plan just to take a dump! More concerned with petty ass shit than the damn job. This agency just sucks now…all I can say, with regards to USCS v. INS, is that one is no better than the other. We have plenty of our own shit birds in Customs and it’s no different than in any other agency. We’ve mixed the worse of Customs and INS and we now have an abomination of an agency.
