This is History?!: Billuh’s Gas Station

By Debbie Schlussel

It just goes to show how far America has declined when our idea of what constitutes “history” and what should be designated a “national historic landmark” is this oafish lowlife’s gas station.  Remember, this is the anti-Semitic Presidential bro who took $220,000 in not-to-be-repaid “loans” from Libya’s Muammar Khaddafi while his brother was Prez, using the excuse: “The only thing I can say is there is a hell of a lot more Arabians than there is Jews.”

Looks like Billy Carter’s gas station in Plains, Ga., is about to be recognized as a national historic landmark.

If the U.S. House gives its OK this afternoon to HR 1471, the  National Park Service site honoring President Jimmy Carter will be doubled to include the Billy Carter Service Station museum. . . .

CQPolitics.com reports that the Congressional Budget Office expects that adding 30 more acres to the current Carter presidential site would cost about $17 million over five years.

The site already include Carter’s current home and his childhood home.

The bill says the extra land is needed to enhance visitor experience at the Site.

The gas station served as an informal headquarters for the national press during the 1976 and 1980 campaigns, CQ notes.

Hmmm . . . Billy Carter’s gas station will “enhance visitor experience”? If that’s the case, perhaps the place where Roger Clinton mixed drugs and bought cocaine should be acquired for the Clinton Presidential site, not to mention host an on-site Gap store that sells stained blue dresses and cigars.

The end of the Civil War is history.  Soldiers storming Omaha Beach at Normandy is history.  Discovering the vaccine for polio is history.  A stupid hick’s gas station–no matter who hung out there or to whom the owner was related–is NOT history.  Sadly, in this dumbed down pop culture worshipping world, this kind of stuff is now unfortunately designated as “history.”

Billy Carter is laughing at us from hell.

By the way, don’t forget these precious gems from Billuh, Bro of Jimmuh:

He also argued that the “Jewish media [tore] up the Arab countries full-time,” and defended Libya against charges of state-sponsored terrorism by saying that a “heap of governments support terrorists and [Libya] at least admitted it.”

Presidential brothers . . . they don’t make ’em like they used to.

For the record, I am, indeed, the owner of an unopened six-pack of Billy Beer.  I’m told it’s as crappy as he was.  I have nothing against “rednecks” (yes, I know the word is bigoted, thus the quotation marks) and Bubbas.  I like them.  They’re the heart and soul of this country.  I just don’t like the pan-Arabist, anti-Semitic ones.

No reason to. Most Southerners are hardworking, decent and patriotic people. They’re not at all the twin Bills whose waywardness have made a laughingstock out of the country.

Yep, Norm, The “Good ol’ boys an’ girls” are the last hope for decency. Love them especially the ones from East TN. Something really special about those folks and we loved Mobilians when we lived there.

I used to build models and remember that one.
Redneck Power indeed. **heh heh**

It’s only fitting the gas station is declared a monument as Obama is now helping us relive the Carter years.

Yup….Obama’s taking us back.

Can’t say I feel very nostalgic.

Has the gas station been checked out by the EPA for leaks?
