Winter Olympic Update

C’mon, is this really a sport? (Did like the old SCTV parody, “Monday Night Curling,” though.)

Yet another reason that I don’t like the Olympics — too often, they confuse SPORTS with COMPETITION with ATHLETICS. Speed-skaters are athletes; curlers are not. Curlers may be well-trained, and extremely good at what they do, but calling them “athletes” just seems like quite a stretch.

Good News! The US Armed Forces have met their recruiting goals after all! So what’s left? Curling, naturally

If winners are determined by scoring instead of judging, then yes indeed it is a sport.

No! Curling is NOT A SPORT! And neither are Ice Dancing, or Synchronized Swimming, or Rhythmic Gymnastics, or Bowling, or Archery. Just because you’re good at it doesn’t mean it’s a sport. More reasons why I don’t really care about Olympic Events.

I’m hoping The NHL goes on strike because of the extra games on its schedule, professional wrestlers are brought in as consultants before the next speed skating “feud”-and curlers are making millions;unlike NHL amateurs-they’ve earned it.
