While you are distracted about Rush Limbaugh, here is a story the NFL does NOT want you to know about: there’s a players’ strike looming for 2011.

The owners and commissioners are probabably petrified of anything that could cause divisiveness between the players and owners. Professional sports revenues are DOWN due to the recession and a strike in 2011 would be economically devestating to the NFL.

I wonder if this fact plays into any of the antics we’re observing.

Have you ever read “The League” by David Harris? There were scoundrels among NFL owners in teh 1960’s and 1970’s and there’s no reason to think things have changed that much. … regardless of what one things of Rush Limbaugh.

Well I can say I’m quite shocked. While I can think of all kinds of four letter words for the son of Bob Ersay (who was responsible for the Colts leaving Baltimore), I’m kinda giving the Commish the benifit of the doubt….for now.

I don’t really care for the boot-licking republican Rush Limbaugh (who’s show bores the hell out of me), but I don’t think this is right to attack him like this.

I also hate it when politics are thrown into things they aren’t suppose to be in. Sports in this case. As a Ravens fan, I don’t want to know the political views of my team or the owner. I wanna cheer for the team!

The NFL keeps talking about reaching out to have more black QBs, coaches, executives and owners. The NFL wants to be “progressive” in minority hiring. I mean when will the NFL reach out and demand to have more white running backs, Asian linebackers, or Latino wider receivers? I mean they see blacks are supposedly underrepresented at those said positions or positions and made efforts to “rectify” a supposed wrong. Can we have camps funded by the NFL to reach out to suburban white kids to make them be running backs? Shouldn’t their logic follow we must have more diversity than just black athletes? Come on the league is 85% black. There was a time in California before the ban on affirmative action (put in only by public vote of the people) that their was talk that would put a cap on Asians admitted on their prestigious UC colleges. For “diversity sake”, Asians had outperformed their allotment. Their is no meritocracy in America. If you point out the statistics liberals and race baiters cry foul. If the statistics favor the liberal victimized “choice minority” then they will say the statistics speak for themselves. Because if any profession has 85% black composition then it is what is and is right. Reverse that to any occupation being 85% white then it must inherently be racist.

Roger Goodell is a twit. So is Irsay. Since when is the sale of a team contingent upon Irsay’s papal blessing? Regardless of all the banter (personally I’m tired of the racially insensitive BS) Rush has just as much right to own a team as anyone else. The players who bitch about it should shut the hell up and be happy about being paid multi-million dollar salaries while most of the country can’t afford to pay attention.

Venus and Serena Williams? They don’t impress me at all…never did, never will. They just happen to show their true colors like the rest.

One doesn’t get to be the commissioner of the NFL without being a smooth-talking, pc, say-nothing, do-nothing, empty suit, Barack Obama wannabe, brown nosing twit. So these comments come as no surprise.

As Ayn Rand said of Wesley Mouch, Goodell is the zero at the meeting point of forces unleashed in opposition to one another.

The NFL now survives on government subsidies, as governments pay for stadiums, welfare pays the viewers to buy the beer that the advertisers sell on the Sunday TV commercials, state schools and government-backed student loans pay for ringers to pretend to be students so that Universities can field a team of ringers every Saturday., etc. Goodell is just the pretty boy face in front of the whole scandalous, expensive bread-and-circuses mess.

Rush’s comments about McNabb were right on target. In 2003 when Rush made his remarks, McNabb was the poster child for the NFL on their tv promotions to the point of being silly. But it gets better, McNabb was named all-pro in 2003 and he was the 16th rated quarterback in the league with a 79.6 rating.
Name me a 16th ranked quarterback that was named all-pro with 16 td’s and 11 int’s.
Rush is not always right, but he nailed this one.

According to ESPN, Rush has been blacklisted from being involved in the St. Louis Rams purchase. Just like liberals to stick up for their own! He never really had a chance. There some things in life even money can’t buy.

Californiascreaming, the percentage of Black players in the NFL is somewhere around 70% and not 85%. And you’re exactly right regarding meritocracy. America is not now nor has it EVER been a meritocracy. Certain people have always been given certain advantages by circumstance of birth long before “affirmative action” came along…

As far as Rush Limbaugh, this is the same Rush Limbaugh who engaged in his own irresponsible bit of “race-baiting” when he said that Serena William’s meltdown, Kanye West’ drunken and boorish ehavior at the MTV Awards, and the video of a White kid getting beat up by a Black kid on a school bus were all somehow connnected and were all examples of what happens in “Obama’s America”. I can’t seem to remember the last time the misbehavior of a White athlete, a White celebrity, and a White school kid were somehow linked to the “White” President in office at that particular time. Rush definitely pulled an “Al Sharpton” with that one….

And isn’t this the same Rush Limbaugh that also said that “the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons.” So now this man wants part ownership of, in his view, a league of gangsters?

The bottom line is this. Most business owners don’t have syndicated radio shows where we get to hear their political views every day. And most of us really don’t know the political and racial views of the owners of our companies and some of us would be shocked if we did. Yet we go to work every day and collect a paycheck from them. Given that, Mr. Limbaugh has every right to try to own an NFL team. However, no one should be surprised at the uproar over this. Mr. Limbaugh is free to say what he wants on his show. No one is going to arrest him for it. But “freedom of speech” does not free you from the consequences of what you say, so NFL players, sports columnists and others have every right to oppose his ownership bid. And in the end, Mr. Limbaugh wins whether he gets part ownership of a team or not…the ratings on his show will only increase as a result of all this hooplah.

The NFL is 50% black. Rush is guilty of a lot of race-baiting and his ESPN comments about Donovan McNabb were not only stupid, but injected a racial element into the Eagles’ success that was odious. If 50% of a professional sports league were Jewish (handball, maybe) would the league likely put barriers up to prevent say Pat Buchanan from becoming an owner? You bet they would. Just because Rush has the shekels – that doesn’t mean he has the right to buy a sports team. He no more belongs in the NFL than Dennis Miller belonged as a Monday Night Football commentator.

Why lie? Venus Williams just received an award from the Jewish Defense League for supporting Miss Peer’s right to play in that tournament in Dubai. After winning, she even went so far as to say if she was not allowed to play the following year she would not return to the tournament. Venus also criticised their top dignitaries at the trophy ceremonies after winning!
